Woman's body found in trunk of kidnapping suspect's car in SoCal police pursuit
A police pursuit in El Cajon this week turned into a homicide investigation after police arrested the driver and found a woman's body in the trunk.
El Cajon Police responded to reports of a possible kidnapping shortly before 5 p.m. Monday in the San Diego County city.
The caller reported the suspected kidnapper was driving a black Hyundai Sonata, police announced in a news release. Officers found the vehicle near the intersection of Madison and Magnolia avenues.
The driver sped away when officers tried to pull him over, starting a car chase that began and ended in El Cajon after making a circle through Spring Valley. The driver hit two other vehicles during the pursuit, police said. No one was injured in the collisions, and the driver was taken into custody after officers used a stun gun.
When officers searched the vehicle, they found a woman's body in the trunk, according to the El Cajon Police Department. There was no immediate information about a cause of death. Police have not released the driver's name.
News station KNSD reports the woman was 51 years old, and witnesses said the pursuit started at a Motel 6 in El Cajon.
'I just heard yelling,' Ian Forbes, a guest at the motel, told the news station. 'I didn't know what was going on.'

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – A person is dead after a two-vehicle crash at a North Las Vegas intersection on Thursday, according to police. The crash involving a Hyundai Sonata and a Dodge Ram pickup took place shortly after 10:30 a.m. near Revere Street and Rossmoyne Avenue. Woman allegedly caught going 95 mph on I-91 with 1-year-old in car
A woman was arrested when state troopers found that she allegedly went nearly 100 mph on Interstate 91 on Monday with a 1-year-old in the car. Troopers received multiple 911 calls just after 11 p.m. reporting that a silver Hyundai Sonata was being driven erratically on I-91 South in the area of Exit 32, according to Connecticut State Police. A trooper stopped in the shoulder near Exit 27 and spotted the Hyundai shortly thereafter. The trooper followed the vehicle and allegedly clocked its speed at 95 mph in a 65 mph zone, state police said. The driver pulled over when prompted to do so near Exit 22 in Rocky Hill and was identified as 24-year-old Nahgee Baldwin of New Haven, according to state police. Troopers during the stop noticed a 1-year-old in the rear of the vehicle. State police said they also found that Baldwin did not have a valid license, and that the Hyundai was unregistered and uninsured. Baldwin was charged with reckless driving, first-degree reckless endangerment, improper use of registration plate, risk of injury to a minor, operating a motor vehicle without minimum insurance, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and operating without a license. She was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on June 24.
