Downtown Detroit buzzes with celebration and energy for Motor City Pride

CBS News5 hours ago

June is Pride Month, a time to show support for the LGBTQ+ community.
Michigan's largest Pride celebration took over the streets of downtown Detroit on Sunday afternoon.
Tens of thousands of people lined up along Griswold Street for the Motor City Pride Parade.
"This is my first one in probably a few years. But I used to come all the time," Erika Cruz, a Detroit native, said. "It's way bigger, way more inclusive. It seems like there's a lot more big companies that are, you know, helping and donating and everything. So that's really cool."
Dozens of local companies, community organizations and marching bands made the walk from Campus Martius to Hart Plaza, throwing souvenirs and candy from vibrant, colorful vehicles and floats.
Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer surprised spectators by making a beeline for the crowd.
"Everybody's so happy. Everybody's always so nice anyway, so I'm glad everybody turned out and [is] actually having a good time," Tiffani Taylor, visiting from Savannah, Georgia, said.
The vibe and atmosphere at Motor City Pride are what make this event one of the most attended celebrations of the summer.
"It's just the love that you feel. You know, it's a nice environment, Sheresse Jackson, a Detroit resident, said. "Everybody loves everybody, you know. You leave with a smile, feeling better about yourself."
This is more than just a parade. It's a show of harmony.
"I've been crying half of the time through the parade, so I looked at my wife and I was like, I keep getting super emotional just seeing everybody super hyped up and all the love flowing," Cruz said.
And of course, unwavering pride.

Originally appeared on E! Online What George Clooney's kids are interested in isn't so up in the air. Indeed, as the Ocean's Eleven alum navigates fatherhood with his and wife Amal Clooney's 8-year-old twins Ella and Alexander, he shared insight into their pop culture diet. 'They want to see ,' George told E! News' Keltie Knight during an exclusive interview at the 2025 Tonys red carpet. 'The funniest part is that they have no idea of references. Robert DeNiro will be at the house and they're like 'Who's that?' They don't care.' His little ones, however, do know the cast of Wicked and can't wait to see Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande dazzle in Wicked: For Good. As he put it, 'They're looking forward to the second part.' (See every star here.) And for George—who is nominated in the Best Actor in a Play for Good Night, and Good Luck—it helps having Amal by his side at home and in his career. More from E! 'She's the bravest human being I've ever met in my life. I am deeply proud of her and the fact that she's in any way proud of me, if just, I can't believe how lucky I am.' Something that Amal—who accompanied her husband in a stunning white gown adorned with pearl—is grateful for? George finally returned to his famed salt-and-pepper locks after going dark for his onstage role as Edward R. Murrow. "I had to cut it all out with a weed whacker to get it all," George teased at Radio City Music Hall. "That black hair dye, I had to cut it out. You can't color that." Although the E.R. alum kept the eyebrow-raising hair color for his latest project, he was ready to rid himself of the look as soon as he and the cast took their final bows. 'We do a matinee, and then by the time we go to the Tonys that night, it'll be gone,' he explained on Late Night with Seth Meyers June 3. 'I may have a shaved head.' Meanwhile, Amal has made it clear that she isn't a fan of the look either. "It's not my favorite look, and my wife, she thinks it's funny," George quipped on CBS Mornings in April. 'Honestly, nothing makes you look older than being 63 and dyeing your hair." For more stars at the 2025 Tony Awards, keep reading. ‘Call Her Daddy' Host Alex Cooper Accuses College Soccer Coach of Sexual Harassment

Call Her Daddy host Alex Cooper claims in her new Hulu documentary that she was sexually harassed by her soccer coach, Nancy Feldman, at Boston University. Call Her Alex premiered at the Tribeca Festival on Sunday, and in part one, the podcasting mogul details the harassment she suffered over three years at the school, accusing Feldman of commenting on her body and asking questions about her intimate life, among other claims. Cooper, a top soccer player in high school, went to Boston University on a full scholarship. 'I started to notice her really starting to fixate on me way more than any other teammate of mine. And it was confusing because the focus wasn't like, 'You're doing so well, let's get you on the field, you're gonna be a starter.' It was all based on her [Feldman] wanting to know who I was dating, her making comments about my body and her always wanting to be alone with me.' Cooper said she would try to avoid Feldman, but that her coach would retaliate by benching her during games. It ultimately ended with Cooper being kicked off the soccer team senior year. 'It was this psychotic game of you wanna play? Tell me about your sex life, I have to drive you to your night class, get in the car with me alone,' she recalled. 'I started trying to spend as little time as possible with her, taking different routes to practice where I knew I wouldn't run into her. During meetings, I would try to sit as far away from her as possible, literally anything to not be alone with this woman.' In Call Her Alex, Cooper claimed university officials 'dismissed' her allegations against Feldman and that there was no investigation. Cooper graduated from Boston University in 2017, and Feldman retired in 2022. The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to Boston University for comment. In a Q&A following the premiere, Cooper shared why she chose to open up about the sexual harassment allegations in the documentary. 'I think a lot of this process almost made me realize, if I have the finances to pay for a lawyer and I have the resources to do all these things, how is another woman going to feel comfortable to come forward? I'm still fucking scared up here, you know. And I was nobody when I was in college. I did come forward. I was denied, essentially. And so the story is frustrating, because I want to tell women come forward … But I did, and I wasn't believed, and then it took me a decade.' She continued, 'I actually think this is just the beginning. It's really opened my eyes to how difficult the system is, and it's so built against us as women, and we have to fight so fucking hard to have our voices heard, and we are denied, or we're questioned, or you feel shame, and that started to really get in my head of, how am I about to not put this in the documentary? … I realized, holy shit, I have so much more work to do, and I'm going to use my platform to hopefully inspire other people to come forward and tell their stories, because conversation is the only way that we're going to actually have change and we're going to make change.' After Their Friendship Was Reportedly Left "Fractured" By The Justin Baldoni Lawsuit, There's A New Update On Taylor Swift And Blake Lively

There's a new update on Taylor Swift and Blake Lively's friendship amidst Blake's ongoing legal woes with Justin Baldoni. Matt Winkelmeyer / Getty Images for The Recording Academy, Dominik Bindl / WireImage In December, Blake sued Justin, her co-star and director on It Ends with Us, claiming he sexually harassed her on set. In addition to denying the claims, Justin launched a countersuit against Blake, alleging defamation, civil extortion, and false light invasion of privacy. Taylor was roped into the drama in May when Justin's legal team subpoenaed her, arguing that Blake had used "her megacelebrity friend to pressure [Justin]" into making changes on the film. A rep for Taylor immediately denied their claims. "Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie," her spokesperson said. "She was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film, she did not even see It Ends With Us until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history." Related: Donald Trump's Apparent Baldness Is Going Viral In A New Photo According to the rep, Taylor had only agreed to license her song "My Tears Ricochet" for use in the trailer and one scene. "Given that her involvement was licensing a song for the film, which 19 other artists also did, this document subpoena is designed to use Taylor Swift's name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case." Still, the drama continued when Justin's lawyers wrote a letter to a judge claiming that Blake had allegedly asked Taylor to delete their text messages and "that if Ms. Swift refused to do so, private text messages of a personal nature in Ms. Lively's possession would be released." Related: People Are Talking About The Most Shocking Celebrity Deaths That Don't Get Enough Attention Blake's lawyer called the claims "categorically false," and the next day, a judge struck the "improper" letter from the record. However, a source claimed that Blake and Taylor's friendship was still left "fractured" in the wake of it. "Their friendship has halted," a source purportedly close to Taylor told People last month. "Taylor wants no part in this drama," the source added, before clarifying it didn't mean they were "not no longer friends" — they were just "taking some space." Neither Taylor nor Blake addressed the report at the time, but now, almost a month on, a source has offered an update, telling People their friendship still "isn't the same." "[They] aren't as close and haven't been spending as much time together as they did in the past," the source said. However, they claimed Taylor and Blake are trying to get back "on good terms." "Taylor is working to trust Blake again but it's going to take some time," the insider added. I guess we'll see what happens. In the meantime, BuzzFeed has reached out to reps for Taylor, Blake, and Justin for comment on the latest report.
