AEW Trios Champion Samoa Joe has revealed that he is dealing with another legitimate injury. While promoting the new season of his Peacock series, Twisted Metal, Joe disclosed that he suffered a fractured ankle during filming.
This revelation adds another layer to his current absence from AEW television. It was recently revealed that he is also in the company's concussion protocols following a post-match attack at the All In: Texas pay-per-view.
Samoa Joe: "Limping Through It"
In a new interview with Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Samoa Joe explained the ironic circumstances of his ankle injury. After a day of performing "crazy driving stunts," he suffered the fracture while doing a simple hop out of a car.
"It was just parking, and I had to hop out the back on some really rocky, busted-up asphalt. I turned my ankle and spent the rest of the season taping it up and limping through it," Joe said.
His decision to work through the pain is a testament to the toughness that has defined his legendary career. "Spending enough time in the ring as I have, it's no new territory," he added.

Samoa Joe's Compounded Problem
This fractured ankle is now compounded by the concussion he reportedly suffered at the All In pay-per-view on July 12th. After his team, The Opps, successfully defended their Trios Titles, they were ambushed by the Death Riders faction. The angle ended with Joe being stretchered out of the arena.
It now appears that the storyline attack also resulted in a legitimate concussion. Joe is currently recovering from both injuries simultaneously.
More news: WWE Superstar Announces Retirement Match
Samoa Joe has built a multi-decade career on a reputation as one of the most legitimately tough and physical performers in the business. From his iconic, dominant reigns as ROH World Champion and TNA World Champion to his runs as NXT and AEW World Champion, the "Samoan Submission Machine" has always been known for his hard-hitting, realistic style.
His willingness to continue filming a physically demanding role like Sweet Tooth while dealing with a fractured ankle is just the latest chapter in his legendary story of grit and determination.
Revenge On The Horizon
Despite the dual injuries, Joe has made it clear that he will be back in an AEW ring "sooner than later." In the interview, he stated that once he has cleared all "various medical protocols," he will be "back to business." That business is likely revenge on the Death Riders for the attack that put him on the shelf.

Vince McMahon defends bringing Hulk Hogan back to WWE after ‘unforgivable' comments

Vince McMahon defended his decision to bring Hulk Hogan back to WWE in 2018, three years after the company severed ties with him once it was revealed that the pro wrestling icon had used a racial slur. McMahon, who resigned from WWE and parent company TKO in January 2024 after a sexual misconduct lawsuit was filed against him by a former company employee, addressed his reaction to comments Hogan made during a sex tape and what happened in the aftermath during an interview for TMZ's special on the Hulkster that aired Tuesday night on Fox. McMahon had no issues bringing Hogan, who died at 71 in July, back to the WWE Hall of Fame and the company's programming in 2018 after the multi-time world champion had paid a price in his eyes. Advertisement 'I knew he wasn't racist. I've been with him for so many years. He wasn't a racist. He said some racist things. He should pay for that, and he did,' McMahon said on 'TMZ Presents: The Real Hulk Hogan.' 'In the end, I think everyone saw the real Hulk Hogan, Terry Bollea, and they felt, 'Wait a minute, this guy doesn't act like a racist. He's not a racist.' We all make mistakes. That was a big one, but he wasn't a racist.' 3 Vince McMahon defended bringing Hulk Hogan back to WWE. Zuffa LLC Advertisement In the 2007 sex tape that leaked in 2015, Hogan can be heard using the N-word multiple times and saying: 'I guess we're all a little racist.' There is also audio of a 2008 conversation with his son Nick in prison, during which Hogan used racist language. 3 Vince McMahon and Hulk Hogan Starworld Fotos 2003 Hogan's good friend Jimmy Hart also stated to TMZ that he did not believe Hogan was a racist. McMahon, who, along with Hogan, built WWE into a global wrestling power in the 1980s, could not believe the comments he heard from Hogan on the sex tape. Advertisement 'It was unforgivable and I was aghast, 'What happened?'' McMahon said. 'When those things occurred, that's not like him. 'What in God's name is going on?'' It left WWE no choice but to shun Hogan. 'As soon as it happened, obviously, the company didn't have anything to do with him anymore,' McMahon said. 'We took him out of the Hall of Fame. You just don't do those things.' Advertisement Hogan had called it a 'glitch' and made attempts to apologize for his comments, but some, like former WWE star Mark Henry, have felt the legend did not go far enough to make things right. Henry refused to defend what Hogan said, but added that he offered Hogan and McMahon the idea of the Hulkster appearing at black colleges to help fix the situation at the time. 3 Hulk Hogan appears at WrestleMania 30 at the Superdome on April 6, 2014 in New Orleans. MediaPunch/Shutterstock 'Go and talk to them and be honest with your apology. He [Hogan] was like, 'I've been advised not to talk about it no more.' I said, 'I think that's bad advice,' Henry told TMZ. McMahon, who has been persona non grata around WWE and its new parent company TKO after the lawsuit against him, was also asked if he had mixed emotions about not being invited to take part in any of the tributes WWE had for Hogan after his passing. 'It struck me that way as well,' McMahon said. He called Hogan's death a blow to my heart and was angry that his friend was booed during his last WWE appearance.

NJ Little Leaguer's controversial bat flip is turning into merchandise

The Little League moment that became national news will be immortalized on an exclusive piece of memorabilia — and the bat used in it is set to be auctioned off. Marco Rocco, the 12-year-old Little Leaguer from Haddonfield, New Jersey, became the focal point of a legal battle after he celebrated a home run in the state Little League tournament in July by flipping his bat into the air, which led to him being ejected and suspended. The family took Little League International to court and a New Jersey judge ruled in favor of Rocco and allowed him to play in Haddonfield's first game of the double-elimination tournament, which they ended up being eliminated from. Advertisement Marco Rocco was initially suspended for his bat flip. X / @Spicoli_____ Marco's father, Joe, received support from a number of people, including Yankees star Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Blue Jays pitcher Max Scherzer, and said that a lot of people 'were in the camp of, you know, 'let the kids play.'' All of it has led to the family creating a commemorative pin from that moment, which the idea came from family friends and former major leaguers Jeff and Todd Frazier, Joe Rocco told The Athletic. Advertisement 'They told me that this would be a very hot pin, and that people would love to have the pin if I was to create it,' he said. Trading pins is a big part of the experience for players and the fans at Williamsport for the Little League World Series. The pin that Joe came up with includes Marco wearing his No. 10 jersey with his last name on the back while flipping his bat. Aristide Economopoulos Advertisement Across the bottom, 'BATFLIP 2025 is written and along the side it reads 'HADDONFIELD.' Only 75 will be available, and they will not be for sale. 'We all agreed on the design and the number of pins that we were going to release,' Joe told the outlet. 'We wanted to keep it limited to make sure that it was a rare pin at the event, which is important, so we did it together and we'll see how popular it is.' Advertisement The bat that Marcco had is also set to be auctioned off by Ken Goldin, the founder of Goldin Auctions and star of the Netflix show 'King of Collectibles: The Goldin Touch,' according to The Athletic. The auction is planned to coincide with the end of the Little League World Series later this month.

Vince McMahon featured in trailer for Hulk Hogan TV special

Since Vince McMahon resigned from all of his roles at TKO and WWE in the wake of former girlfriend Janel Grant's alleging in an ongoing civil lawsuit that he abused and trafficked her, he's only appeared in public a handful of times. The novelty of those appearances has made them items of interest, especially for pro wrestling fans online. Which is the main reason we're sharing this trailer for the TMZ-produced special on Hulk Hogan which is airing on FOX tonight (Aug. 12) at 8 p.m. Eastern. In it, McMahon — who has denied all of Grant's allegations as he and WWE contest her suit — sits for an interview. He's apparently at the offices of his new private investment firm 14th & I. The 79-year-old appears along with Sylvester Stallone, Goldberg, Mark Henry, Charlotte Flair and TMZ's Harvey Levin. After Levin covers Hogan being booed in his final appearance on Raw back in January, the clip is edited so that we hear McMahon say, 'I was angry. He deserved much more.' Here's the trailer for TMZ Presents: The Real Hulk Hogan, shared by one of the special's producers: The last recorded interviews with Vince were done in 2021, and filmed for Netflix's Mr. McMahon docuseries. Hogan died last month at age 71. McMahon memorialized him in a social media statement shortly after the most famous pro wrestler of all-time died on July 24. Solve the daily Crossword
