
Bahrain International Conference on Family Medicine & Primary Healthcare Kicks Off
In the presence of His Excellency Lieutenant General Doctor Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health, and in partnership with the Ministry of Health, the Supreme Council for Women, and the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA), the Bahrain International conference on family medicine and primary healthcare officially commenced today, Thursday, at the Gulf Hotel Conference Hall. The three-day event runs from 29 to 31 May 2025 and is organized by BDA Conferences and Exhibitions, in cooperation with the Bahrain Family Physician Association and the Bahrain Medical Society. The opening day featured a series of workshops, including a session on men's and women's health, which included a short introductory film on the Supreme Council for Women, outlining its establishment and key mandates. Another workshop focused on enhancing the clinical skills of family physicians, with discussions exploring various aspects of family medicine and primary care. These sessions facilitated valuable knowledge exchange among healthcare professionals and contributed to advancing family medicine practices in Bahrain and the wider region. The scientific program began with a session titled ' Chronic Disease Management and Lifestyle Modification,' followed by a panel on 'Multidisciplinary Specialties in Primary Care'. Additional discussions included ' Telemedicine, AI, Innovation & Technology in Family Medicine,' and 'Clinical Practice in Family Medicine.' The final session of the day addressed 'Primary Health Care: Challenges and Opportunities.' Over the next two days, the conference will host a wide range of scientific sessions, panel discussions, case studies, and research presentations, all designed to enhance clinical practice and influence health policy. Day two will feature two key sessions: 'Young Family Medicine Leaders Meeting,' and 'The Six Pillars of Lifestyle Medicine' presented Al Razi YDM Group (WONCA). Several specialized seminars and research contributions led by attending experts are also scheduled. The third and final day will include nine in-depth sessions addressing topics such as: strengthening family medicine for universal health coverage, Primary Care: A Critical Force in the Fight Against Cancer, Empowering the Role of Family Physicians in the Healthcare System and Their Leadership Role in the Community. On this occasion, Professor Faisal Alnaser, Chairman of the Bahrain Family Physician Association, stated: 'We are pleased to launch this international conference from the Kingdom of Bahrain, serving as a scientific platform that brings together local and international expertise to exchange diverse knowledge and best practices in the field of primary health care and family medicine—both of which are fundamental pillars of any successful healthcare system.' Professor Alnaser added, 'Through this conference, we aim to position Bahrain as a regional and global hub for family medicine by presenting the latest medical techniques and tools that support accurate diagnosis and treatment. We also seek to strengthen collaboration with international scientific bodies to raise the standard of healthcare in Bahrain and the region in line with the highest global benchmarks.'

SCH Chairman and Health Minister Attend Bahrain Medical Lab Symposium
Manama: Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health, attended the Bahrain Medical Lab Symposium, alongside Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hasan, Minister of Health. The event was organized by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with Government Hospitals, Primary Healthcare Centres, and the Royal Medical Services, in cooperation with Education Plus. According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla highlighted the symposium's significance as a scientific platform that enhances the efficiency of healthcare services by investing in advanced laboratory technologies. He emphasized the crucial role laboratories play in ensuring accurate diagnosis and effective treatment, which underpin the quality and sustainability of healthcare in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
