Pahang to reclaim encroached land using full extent of law, says MB
KUANTAN, April 24 — The Pahang government will fully enforce existing legal provisions to reclaim every inch of state land that has been illegally encroached, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail.
He stressed that land encroachment is a criminal offence and the state will not compromise with any party attempting to illegally occupy government land.
'Such actions not only violate the law but also undermine the sovereignty and dignity of the state administration. We will not yield to any pressure, threats, or tactics from irresponsible individuals or groups.
'I issue a stern warning — do not challenge the resolve of the state government. Together with enforcement agencies, we will intensify monitoring operations, law enforcement, and legal actions.
He said this when winding up debate on the motion of thanks for the royal address during the State Legislative Assembly sitting at Wisma Sri Pahang here today.
Earlier, the Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah had called for an end to illegal land encroachments in the state, revealing that 14,494.9 hectares of government land had been unlawfully occupied and cultivated with oil palm, rubber, durian, and other produce.
Wan Rosdy said since the establishment of the Pahang State Enforcement Unit (UPNP) in 2019, a total of 23 anti-land encroachment operations had been carried out over 1,362 hectares, with five more planned for this year.
He also revealed that the state had submitted 11 high-impact project proposals for consideration under the First Rolling Plan of the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK-13) in 2026.
These included the construction of the Lingkaran Tengah Utara linking Raub to Slim River in Perak (RM3.936 billion), upgrading of Jalan Kuantan–Segamat, Rompin Phase 2 (RM1.331 billion), and construction of the Central Spine Road (CSR) Package 6 from Karak to Simpang Pelangai, Bentong (RM750 million).
To date, 114 of the 217 water supply development projects in Pahang have been completed, 32 are under construction, and 71 are in the pre-construction phase, he said.
Starting this year, Pengurusan Air Pahang Berhad (PAIP) will undertake pipe replacement works totalling 713.2 kilometres, funded with RM205 million from the Federal Government and RM134.6 million via a loan from Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB). — Bernama

U.S. District Judge James Boasberg gave the Trump administration one week to detail how it would facilitate the deportees' filing of legal challenges. His ruling stopped short of expressly ordering the Trump administration to bring the hundreds of Venezuelan migrants currently being held in a mega-prison in El Salvador back to the United States. In his ruling, Boasberg wrote that the individuals were deported without adequate notice or the right to contest their removals. 'That process - which was improperly withheld - must now be afforded to them,' Boasberg wrote. The Venezuelans were deported in March after President Donald Trump, a Republican, invoked the 1798 Alien Enemies Act to swiftly deport alleged members of the Tren de Aragua gang without going through normal immigration procedures. Boasberg's Wednesday ruling is the first to address the fate of these detainees. Neither the White House nor the Justice Department immediately responded to requests for comment. Family members of many of the Venezuelans deported on March 15 and their lawyers deny any gang ties, and say they were not given a chance to contest the Trump administration's allegations in court. The U.S. Supreme Court in April held that migrants must be allowed to challenge their removals under the Alien Enemies Act. Courts around the country have since barred the Trump administration from further deportations of alleged Tren de Aragua members under the law. Cabinet appointments: PM decides, parties popose
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has the right to choose who is in the Cabinet, but it is "not wrong" for any group, including political organisations, to put forward suggestions on the matter. Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said it was up to Anwar to make any decision regarding the current vacancies of two ministers, including for the positions to be filled temporarily by other ministers. "It is up to the Prime Minister, as Cabinet matters fall under his prerogative and political authority. "However, it is not wrong to ask or propose, like Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who asked for a ministerial seat for Umno if Tengku Zafrul (Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz) joins PKR," he told Berita Harian, yesterday. Ahmad was asked about the prime minister's statement yesterday that there was no pressing need for a cabinet reshuffle despite the 'resignation' of two cabinet members. Anwar said that although both Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad are currently on leave, the government remains fully functional. Last Friday, Ahmad, who is also the deputy works minister, urged the economy minister post to be filled immediately given the upcoming tabling of the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), scheduled for July. PENAMPANG (June 2): The Member of Parliament here, Datuk Ewon Benedick, stressed that close cooperation between elected representatives and government leaders is vital to ensure successful development in their respective constituencies. Ewon, who is also the Federal Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives MInister, said his continued collaboration with Kapayan assemblywoman Jannie Lasimbang has allowed for smoother implementation of various programmes and development plans in Penampang, particularly in the Kapayan area. 'Whenever there is a need, an issue, or a development matter in Penampang, my office together with the Kapayan ADUN Service Centre will sit down to discuss the best way to assist our community. We do not work in silos, but as a team,' he said. He was speaking at the Kaamatan Festival celebration for the Kapayan constituency, held at Dewan Kibouvang here recently. The event was officiated by Human Resources Minister Steven Shim. He also said that under his ministry alone, several agency offices have already been established in Penampang, including the National Entrepreneurship Institute (INSKEN), TEKUN Nasional, an MSME Hub, and a Live Studio facility at the TEKUN Penampang Office. In addition, the Tamu Desa project has been implemented in Penampang to support local market traders and small entrepreneurs. On the Kaamatan celebration, Ewon said it is now celebrated by all Malaysians regardless of race, religion or culture. 'This is in line with the theme 'Kaamatan for All'. Kaamatan is not just for the Kadazandusun community in Sabah — it is also celebrated overseas by Sabahans, particularly the Kadazandusun diaspora,' he said.
