Dave Challinor wants Stockport to be rewarded in Carabao Cup draw
Challinor will have a keen eye on Wednesday's draw, which includes Manchester United among the 11 Premier League clubs entering the competition.
He said: 'The second-half performance was much better and had much more intent about us. I was disappointed with our first half because of what we wanted the players to do and they didn't do that.
'It was too placid in the first half that we played. I'm delighted to win, that's the aim and hence why we picked the team that we did. Tonight was about progressing and we've done that and hopefully we get rewarded for that with a nice draw.'
Lee Bell felt his Crewe side were undone by poor defending for Stockport's first two goals.
He said: 'We're obviously disappointed to be knocked out of a competition. We knew we were going to be understrength and then you get here and see the players they had on the team sheet.
'But I think shape-wise and the way we tried to play was good. I've just said to the players if we want to achieve anything, you've got to stop crosses coming into your box and you've got to mark inside the box, because ultimately those two goals have cost us.'

Arsenal transfer news: Eberechi Eze saga takes fresh twist as Gunners agree deal
Arsenal have been heavily linked with Eberechi Eze throughout the summer transfer window but it's Tottenham who are the favourites for his signature, while Oleksandr Zincheko could be on his way out It all starts here. Arsenal will kick off their 2025-26 Premier League campaign on Sunday, travelling to face Manchester United at Old Trafford. But the start of the new season doesn't mean the end of the Gunners' transfer business. In fact, things are set to get much busier after a relatively quiet few weeks after the signing of Viktor Gyokeres. The Swedish striker's arrival took Arsenal's summer spending to £195million, as Mikel Arteta bids to build a squad capable of finally winning the Premier League title. It's not all about incomings, though. Sales will be needed to offset the Gunners' spending, with a number of exits are in the pipeline. Here's a round-up of the latest transfer news from the Emirates. Eze to miss Crystal Palace opener Eberechi Eze is expected to be left out of Crystal Palace's opening game of the season as he edges closer to a move to north London - but not with Arsenal. Tottenham have been installed as the favourites to sign the England international after Spurs star James Maddison suffered a serious knee injury in pre-season. Eze, 27, is open to joining Tottenham as he wants to play Champions League football, according to the Sun. Sources add that the Palace midfielder is unlikely to face Chelsea on Sunday at Stamford Bridge. Should Arsenal hijack Tottenham's move for Eberechi Eze? Have your say in the comments section. Fenerbahce agree deal for Zinchenko Oleksandr Zinchenko reportedly has the chance to sign for Fenerbahce after Arsenal agreed a deal for his departure. Zinchenko, 28, is open to leaving Arsenal after entering the final year of his contract. Turkish outlet Sporx claim that Fenerbahce have been in talks with the Gunners for a week, adding that their sporting director, Devin Ozek, has met with Arsenal's Andrea Berta to discuss the Ukrainian defender. The two clubs are said to have agreed a €3m (£2.6m) loan fee with a €10m (£8.6m) option to buy at the end of the season, with all eyes now on Zinchenko's decision. De Jong plan drawn up Arsenal are planning to sign Frenkie de Jong as a free agent next summer, it's claimed. De Jong's current terms with Barcelona expire in June 2026 and despite indicating that he wants to stay, the 28-year-old midfielder is yet to sign a new contract amid their well-documented financial woes. Fichajes report that Barca need to beware, as Arsenal are plotting a move. Arteta sees De Jong as the perfect man to compliment his current midfield options and believes that his experience would be greatly beneficial.

Manchester City squad too big and ‘not healthy', warns Pep Guardiola
Pep Guardiola said he was delighted with his new signings' immediate impact in Manchester City's 4-0 rout of Wolves but insisted his squad is too big and at risk of being unhealthy. The summer arrivals Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki both scored in the victory at Molineux, where goalkeeper Ederson and midfielder Savinho were absent amid doubts over their long-term futures. The City manager said the club's hierarchy must 'find a solution' before the transfer window closes next month. The injured City pair Rodri and Phil Foden were in the stands, while Guardiola also cited Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol, who are both nearing returns to match fitness. Ederson has been linked with a move to Galatasaray while Savinho is of interest to Tottenham. Rico Lewis, who is wanted by Nottingham Forest, started at full-back in a sign he could stay at City. Asked if he was happy with his squad after the victory at Wolves, Guardiola replied: 'Too many people. It's not about Eddy [Ederson], today [there] was [no] Rodri, Phil, Kovacic, Savinho and Josko. On the bench we had Nathan [Aké] and Gündo [Ilkay Gündogan]. I like a deep squad to compete in all competitions but I don't want to leave players at home. It's not healthy. You cannot create a good vibe or atmosphere to compete. 'The club has known [about] it since last season but the situation is what it is. In the next two weeks, people will talk with players and agents to find a solution. We have to reduce the squad because it will be difficult to sustain the vibe of the team.' Wolves paid tribute to Diogo Jota in their first competitive game since the death of their former player and his brother, André Silva. 'Jota and his brother are in our minds and were in our hearts before, during and after the game,' said the Wolves head coach, their Portuguese compatriot Vítor Pereira. 'They are still with us and we tried to do our best to honour them as players, people, because of their families. We will keep him in our hearts for the future and he will be with us for ever.' Jota's parents and his wife, Rute Cardoso, were in attendance, along with his former teammate Rúben Neves and Portugal's manager, Roberto Martinez.

Man Utd transfer news: Carlos Baleba chase takes twist as Gary Neville reveals verdict
Manchester United are in the middle of their preparations for their Premier League opener against Arsenal at Old Trafford but transfer still remain on the agenda for the Red Devils Manchester United's long wait for the new season is nearly over. There's just a few hours to go until the Red Devils take on Arsenal at Old Trafford. Ruben Amorim has been hard at work getting his squad prepared as he attempts to improve on the club's rotten form from last season. One way he has gone about that is splashing the cash in the transfer market. United have spent over £200m this summer in an effort to bolster the club's attack - Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko all having signed. And despite that outlay, Amorim's side might not be done there. They are still after a new midfielder amid links with Brighton star Carlos Baleba. There might also be exits to thrash out, with Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund all primed for the exit door. With that being said, take a look at the latest transfer news and rumours coming out of Old Trafford over the past 24 hours: Baleba stillpushing for move Carlos Baleba is reportedly still keen to secure a move to Man United despite Brighton's hard-line stance. The Seagulls have made it known over the past couple of days that they do not want to sell the midfielder under any circumstances. It is suggested that Baleba would be willing to bide his time as he is aware that he is still developing. But he is still keen to keep pushing over the next 12 months to secure a switch to Old Trafford. Speaking ahead of this weekend's Premier League opener vs Fulham, Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler said: "I didn't see any change [in Baleba]. He only changed his hair, so I think that was the only change he made the last two weeks. But overall, he seems to be in a really good place. He's enjoying it with his team-mates, he's enjoying being a Brighton player. "He's very grateful to have the process he had in the last season, so I didn't see any big change. And he's an option to start for tomorrow." Neville reveals verdict Man United icon Gary Neville has revealed his surprise at the club's huge transfer outlay this summer - but still thinks there is one glaring weakness. He said: 'Mbeumo, Cunha, Sesko – a lot of eyes on them at United I think Manchester United fans, including myself, are surprised they've gone and spent that level of money. 'We thought that obviously after the Europa League final, that the money wouldn't be there at that level. So to get those three players, who look like a really good profile – two of them have Premier League experience – we need them to do well, because the rest of the team… 'We need a goalkeeper. There are definitely issues with the defence and midfield. But if the three strikers are a real handful and are scoring goals… last season United's return in front of goal was really poor, so it's really important that Sesko, Mbeumo and Cunha get off to a really good start.' Sesko agent reveals sacrifice The agent of Benjamin Sesko has revealed that he was willing to give up his part of the fee in order to push through a move to Man United. Speaking on Slovenian outlet POP! TV's 24UR programme via GOAL Elvis Basanovic said: "At one point the clubs (United and Leipzig) were far apart on the valuation. 'United had reached the limit of their budget for the transfer. On the other side Leipzig had demands and expectations which were higher based on Benjamin's value. That created a gap that needed to be solved. "At one point I decided to give up part of my own fee, to bridge the gap, because I felt it was the right thing to do. For me, a player's wishes and dreams should always come before the agent's interests."
