Kota: Principal, hostel warden among 4 booked for MBBS student's alleged suicide
Jaipur: The Kota police in Rajasthan on Saturday lodged a first information report (FIR) against the principal, and hostel warden along with two other students of the Kota Government Medical College in connection with the alleged death by suicide of a 28-year-old medical student on March 5, said officials.
The station house officer (SHO) of Mahaveer Nagar police station, Ramesh Kabia, said, 'The FIR was based on a direction by the SC/ST Commission last week. We have lodged the report against the principal of the college, the hostel warden, and two other students for falsely implicating the victim in a case of copying during an exam last year and then barring him from the future exams, which caused significant mental stress on him that led the student to take the extreme step. The victim's family also alleged that it is possible that their son was murdered planfully by the accused. We are probing the matter.'
According to the officials, the victim, a native of Jaipur's Bassi, was found dead at his hostel room in the college campus on March 5. 'He was a third-year student in the college at the time of death. A suicide note was also found from his belongings in which he stated that he had no reason to live as he failed to fulfil his parents' dreams.'
Kabia further added: 'Prima facie, he was found copying in an exam in 2023 after which the college administration barred him from appearing in the future exams. Despite several requests, the administration declined to withdraw the order. The victim's father, in his primary report on March 19, alleged that his son was falsely accused of copying in the exam. The administration's approach had caused severe mental stress on him but the college still refused to listen to him.'
'His father also alleged that he suspects it could be a planned murder as there were injury marks on his body. However, police have not found anything in the autopsy report so far. We are checking the CCTV footage and will also question the accused regarding the matter,' said Kabia.
The latest FIR was lodged against the college principal Sangeeta Saxena, the then-hostel warden Nilesh Jain, and two of the victim's classmates Adarsh Foujdar and Sandeep Man under section 102 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and necessary sections of SC/ST Act.
Commenting on the case, Principal Saxena said, 'I have never met the boy and his family before. I had a word with our exam supervisors and members of the academic council who informed me that he was found copying from the phone and was barred from appearing in any exam. He was at home only after that incident. He arrived in the college only four days before his death.'
She further added: 'It is surprising how my name appeared in this case. The warden Jain informed me about the suicide incident. I called the police. They recovered the body from the room. It is a suicide case only.'

Gang of eight arrested for impersonating cyber police kidnapping, robbing man of ₹30L
Navi Mumbai: The Sanpada police have arrested a gang of eight members for impersonating the Kerala cyber police, and looting ₹31.73 lakh in cash from a 25-year-old at an ATM kiosk in Juinagar on May 31. According to the police, the incident occurred at 7:45am when the victim, Mohammad Ramees Abdul Hameed Eidwalath, had gone to deposit the money at an ATM kiosk. The gang pushed Ramees into a Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and took him to Palm Beach Road where he was assaulted, threatened, robbed, and finally dumped before they fled, said the police. The police searched the abandoned Ertiga found on the Sanpada highway. They tracked down the owner of the car who told them that the gang had borrowed his vehicle, claiming to be from the Kerala cyber police. The investigation revealed that the accused had fled to Bengaluru, after which the police sent a team to check 500-600 odd lodges in the city. The accused were caught within 36 hours of the crime, in the Upparpet area, on June 2. The accused, all from Tamil Nadu and Kerala, were identified as Thansir Hamsa, 26, Nijas Moin, 27, Johnson Sunny, 45, Anwar Maheen Basha, 25, Faseel Kasim, 30, Mohammad Sabeeth Ashraf, 25, Faseel Kasim, 28, Faseel Abdul Rehman, 31. The police seized cash, mobile phones, the Maruti Ertiga, and bank account deposits worth ₹30.48 lakh, and booked the accused under sections 310 (2) (dacoity), 138 (abduction), 204 (personating a public servant) and 61 (criminal conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

2 techies die in Edulabad car crash
Hyderabad: What was meant to be a weekend getaway among colleagues turned into a devastating tragedy when two young employees of a major corporate company lost their lives in a car crash at Edulabad, near here, in the early hours of Sunday. Preliminary investigation suggests drunk and negligent driving as the cause , casting a pall of grief over what began as a night of celebration. The deceased have been identified as Bathula Bhargav Yadav, 23, a resident of Kuntloor, and Chethi Varshith, 23, from Sainikpuri. According to Ghatkesar inspector P Parashuram, the victims were among a group of seven employees who had gone to Vihari Nature's Nest farmhouse at around 2.30 pm on Friday. The group included Dinesh, Vinay, Bhavadeep, Rajesh, and Praveen, in addition to the deceased. "They reached the farmhouse in two cars—one driven by Praveen, a team lead in the software company, and another by a hired driver. The group partied until about 2.30 am on Saturday," said Ghatkesar sub-inspector A Shekhar. Around that time, the group left the farmhouse to look for food, driving around Edulabad but failing to find any open eateries. The accident occurred during their return to the farmhouse from Edulabad. "The impact was so severe that the right passenger door flung open. "Initial probe points to rash and negligent driving. We have collected Praveen's blood sample for blood alcohol content analysis. Viscera samples of the deceased will also be tested for alcohol," inspector Parashuram said. Liquor bottles were recovered from the farmhouse, and CCTV footage has been collected as part of probe. "Although airbags were deployed, the force of the collision was immense. We will also be recording statements from the other group members," the SI added.

3 killed, 5 injured after car collision on NH-19 in Faridabad
Three men were killed and five others critically injured in a high-speed collision between two cars at JCB Chowk near Faridabad Sector 55 on National Highway 19 around 2am on Saturday, police said. The crash involved a Maruti Suzuki Ertiga with five occupants and an MG Hector carrying three siblings. The deceased, all of whom were traveling in the Ertiga, have been identified as Trivender Singh, 28, of Krishna Colony; Manish Kumar, 30, of Banchari; and Deepanshu Kumar, 25, of Bhaguri— all residents of Palwal. The five injured were Satpal Singh, 28, of Bathen, Mathura; Bhupender, 27, of Narhawali, Faridabad, travelling in the Ertiga; and siblings Sahil, Somya, and Anshika—all in their mid-20s and residents of Sector 16, Faridabad, who were in the Hector. While Satpal and Bhupender were undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Faridabad, the siblings were shifted to a Delhi hospital. All five are stated to be in critical condition, police said. Inspector Vinod Kumar Yadav, station house officer of Sector 58 police station, said the five Ertiga occupants were JCB India Limited employees returning home after a shift at the company's NH-19 headquarters. 'The Ertiga had barely moved 300 metres and was negotiating a right turn onto the highway when the speeding Hector rammed it on the driver's side,' said Yadav. 'Both vehicles overturned multiple times after the collision, and the Hector caught fire,' he added. Locals and passersby alerted the police control room and helped extricate the injured from the mangled vehicles. All eight victims were rushed to Badshah Khan Civil Hospital, where three were declared dead, police said. Police said Sahil was driving the Hector and was heading home to Sector 16 from Sikri, Ballabhgarh. Satpal was behind the wheel of the Ertiga and was driving towards Palwal. 'Prima facie, it appears that Hector was speeding and failed to slow down before the intersection, resulting in the crash,' said Yadav. The bodies of the deceased were handed over to their families after post-mortem examinations at the civil hospital. An FIR under sections 106 (causing death by negligence) and 281 (rash driving) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered against Sahil at Sector 58 police station, based on Bhupender's statement, officers aware of the case said.
