"Cried After Giving Birth": UK Woman Slammed For Calling Her Newborn Son 'Ugly'

NDTV24-04-2025

A British woman recently faced intense online backlash after describing her newborn son as "ugly" moments after birth. According to the New York Post, Jess, a 20-year-old UK mother, sparked controversy after posting a video where she candidly described her newborn son as "ugly" while holding him, sparking widespread criticism online.
"He's got the f- -king ugliest nose. He's so ugly,' she said in a video after giving birth. "I literally stared at him and cried [because] I thought he was so ugly while I was in shock after labour,' she wrote in the caption of the TikTok video that has garnered more than 1.2 million views.
However, she later shared that her feelings changed after a few hours, and she started to find her baby cute. She attributed her initial reaction to postpartum hormones and asked the internet for understanding.
The internet reacted strongly, with many criticising her harsh comments, saying how such negative remarks can impact the boy's confidence and self-esteem.
One TikToker called her as the "baby's first bully", while another called her remarks "horrible" and "cruel." "Imagine knowing your mom posted this for everyone to see and laugh at you? Poor little boy," a third said.
"Delete this now and never mention it again. You will crush [his] self-esteem forever," a fourth urged.
"It's one thing to think/say it whilst just given birth. But to post it on a public platform for all to see and laugh at is completely disgusting to be honest," a fifth added.
Not just Jess, other mothers, like Emily Crossan from England, have also shared similar honest reactions about their newborns' appearances. Ms Crossan jokingly described her baby as "funny looking" and compared him to a "garden gnome."
Notably, this controversial trend has been seen on social media, particularly on TikTok, where parents participate in the "Ugly Baby Challenge," sharing less-than-flattering photos of their children.
Miki Rai, a healthcare worker from Seattle, shared the unspoken rule among hospital staff when commenting on a newborn's appearance. "If the baby is cute, you can just tell them the baby's cute. But if the baby is ugly, you just tell [the parent] they look just like them."

Dua Lipa says she would love to raise children in the future, but "as for the wedding, no plans yet..."

Dua Lipa dropped the 'E' bomb along with Callum Turner , and dropped jaws of her fans. While the eagle-eyed fans knew about her engagement with the sparkly ring on he finger, Dua confirmed her being happily betrothed to the British actor. However, the wedding plans aren't taking up the centre stage of the singer, but she's equally excited to think about the white wedding dress she will eventually wear for the day. In an interview with British Vogue, the 29-year-old said, 'Yeah, we're engaged. It's very exciting. This decision to grow old together, to see a life and just, I don't know, be best friends forever – it's a really special feeling.' What about Dua Lipa's wedding? The one rule the internet's royal couple follows is that they wouldn't be apart for more than two and a half weeks, despite the pop star and the actor having their schedules packed. When asked about the marriage plans, the 'Levitating' singer said, ' I want to finish my tour, Callum's shooting, so we're just enjoying this period. I've never been someone who's really thought about a wedding, or dreamt about what kind of bride I would be. All of a sudden, I'm like: 'Oh, what would I wear?' Dua Lipa wants to have kids... When asked about the possible plans involving children, Dua said that she would like to raise the children, but she first has to figure out being a sensational singer and a mother at the same time. 'I would love to have kids one day. But it's like the constant question of when would there ever be a good time, how it would fit in with my job, and how it would work if I went on tour, and how much time out I'd have to take. I think it's just one of those things that's going to happen when it happens. I love kids, but I think there's so much more to raising a child than just loving children,' she said.

Goodbye! British singer Jessie J takes a hiatus to treat her cancer: "Today, this show is my last show..."

Jessie J , the British singer-songwriter, takes a final bow before she goes and beats her breast cancer. Earlier this month, the 37-year-old singer revealed that she has been diagnosed and will be undergoing a double mastectomy this year. Jessie J takes a hiatus... As Jessie addressed the audience at the Capital Summertime Ball 2025 at Wembley Stadium on June 15, in London, England, she stated that it was her last performance for a while as she battles a life-threatening disease. She voiced out the memorable moments, and a list of why she so wants to continue living her life, according to The Independent. 'Today, this show is my last show before I go and beat breast cancer. So it's (the performance) so special to me, you have no idea. That this is my last show before I go and have my surgery and all those things,' she bid adieu for a moment. 'It's the most special thing, and I'm so grateful for this life, for you guys, for my career, for my son, my partner, my parents, my family, my band, my crew, my people. We are so lucky we have so much to live for, so much joy, so many things to do,' Jessie expressed her gratitude. Jessie J announced her cancer... On June 3, Jessie revealed in a heartwrenching Instagram video about the diagnosis, and found a way to make the announcement lighthearted, addressing her situation and what she has been going through. 'I was diagnosed with early breast cancer. I'm highlighting the word early. Cancer sucks in any form, but I'm holding on to the word 'early.' I have been in and out of tests throughout this whole period,' she said in the clip. 'I just wanted to be open and share it, 1) because selfishly, I do not talk about it enough. I'm not processing it because I'm working so hard. I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support, and also their own stories. I'm an open book. It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much, similar and worse. Um, that's the bit that kills me,' Jessie added, before concluding with the announcement of performing for the last time at the Capital Summertime Ball 2025.
