How it works
The award ceremony on 17 June was opened by Professor Karam Aloui, the Associate Professor of Mathematics at the University of Tunis EI Manar and Executive Secretary of the PAMO committee.
'Our aim is to challenge creativity and rigorous reasoning in equal measure,' Prof Aloui said.
Wise words from the winning team
Three members of the South African team shared encouraging advice to students who want to take part in the Mathematics Olympiad.
Olivia Castleden: 'To people who want to participate in the maths olympiad, I suggest that they just go for it. By just writing the first round, they have already gained valuable experience, even if they don't progress to the next round.'
Erik Senekal: 'Always see an opportunity to learn – approach each problem as a chance to discover something new. Write the math olympiad not just to compete, but also to learn and grow through the process.'
Noah Greenblatt: 'Curiosity can be very powerful. I encourage young learners to explore ideas and concepts in which they show interest to the fullest extent. Enjoying this exploration is not only fulfilling but can also strengthen creativity and problem-solving ability. Additionally, there is truly no substitute for hard work when it comes to improvement.'

Springboks: Plans revealed for Libbok, Pollard and SFM
The Springbok coaches have made it clear that they will not stop their policy of rotation at flyhalf, and for this Saturday's Test against the Wallabies, Manie Libbok has been handed the No 10 jersey, while Damian Willemse will provide cover. Historically, the role of the flyhalf general has held such importance that very few coaches have rotated or experimented in this position, but Rassie Erasmus has insisted there is no first-choice flyhalf in the Springbok squad. This week Erasmus also confirmed that Handre Pollard and Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu are likely to come back into the team squad for the second Test in Cape Town. 'Sacha and Handre will probably play in Cape Town, so we are just trying to spread the load a bit there,' Erasmus said 'We know Damian can play flyhalf, so we feel we are well covered there (this weekend),' Erasmus added. 'We've found that in the past, the only time we swap a flyhalf is when he is having an off day or when he is missing goal kicks. 'Manie has been slotting them well. The new balls are making a difference; he is doing well. Earlier this year, Erasmus also explained why they felt chopping and changing at flyhalf was not an issue, but rather a positive. 'Everything depends on who our opposition is on the day and what our plan is. I like to believe it gives us options,' said Erasmus. 'By not having a first-choice flyhalf, it makes it more difficult for opposing teams to analyse us and makes us less predictable. 'Who we choose depends on who we play and whether we go with a 5-3, 6-2 or 7-1 split on the bench. With a 6-2 bench, guys like Damian Willemse or Sacha could work nicely.' REMINDER OF THE REMAINING SPRINGBOK SCHEDULE FOR 2025: 16 August: vs Australia, Ellis Park, Johannesburg. Kick off: 17:10 . . 23 August: vs Australia, DHL Stadium, Cape Town. The boy can play, says AB de Villiers after Dewald Brevis smashes new Proteas record
Dewald Brevis has broken the record for the highest score by a South African in a T20I against Australia on Tuesday. Picture: BackpagePix Proteas legend AB de Villiers has led the plaudits after Dewald Brevis blasted the highest score by a South African in T20 internationals in Darwin on Tuesday. Brevis struck an unbeaten 125 of 56 balls (12x4, 8x6) passing former Proteas' captain Faf du Plessis's 119 not out against the West Indies at the Wanderers in 2015. It was a night of records for the 22-year-old as his 41-ball century was also the second fastest by a South African - just six balls shy of David Miller's 35-ball century scored against Bangladesh in Potchefstroom back in 2017. The right-hander was in a belligerent mood at the Marrara Stadium. His first 50 came off 25 balls (2 x 4, 5 x 6) before blitzing to three figures of just a further 16 balls. De Villiers, who has Brevis' long-time mentor, was full of praise for the prodigy.

Kaizer Chiefs are still busy trimming their squad with millions worth of departures lined up. Kaizer Chiefs are not done with squad cuts just yet. These players are both heading out of Naturena. Edson Castillo and Fiacre Ntwari are both not in Nasreddine Nabi;s plans for this season. So, Amakhosi management are planning to release Castillo to free up a foreign spot. Meanwhile, Ntwari has fallen out of favour with Nabi at Chiefs. 'The next Chiefs player facing a likely exit is goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari. Therefore, both Ntwari and Castillo are expected to become Amakhosi's next respective departures. Ntwari is valued at over R7 million.
