Bengaluru all set to celebrate Independence Day
Addressing a joint press conference in Bengaluru on Wednesday, BBMP Chief Commissioner Maheswar Rao M, Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh, Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner Jagadeesha G shared the details of the arrangements made. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will hoist the national flag at 9 am before reviewing the parade and the receiving guard of honour. After that, he will deliver the Independence Day speech.
This year, 650 students from BBMP Composite PU College, Herohalli, will present a cultural programme 'Swatantra Sangramada Veera Kannadathiyaru', which is themed around the gallant role played by women from Karnataka in the freedom struggle. Besides, 500 students of PU College in Sheshadripuram will showcase an act on 'Five guarantees of the Karnataka Government'. Also, 253 staff and officers of the Karnataka Police Band will perform. As many as 35 platoons (1,150 people) of various armed forces such as KSRP, CRPF, BSF, CAR, Goa Police, dog squad among others will be taking part in the parade. Around 8,000 passes have been issued and elaborate security arrangements are in place for the celebrations.
Police personnel have been deployed at the venue for the past 15 days, with increased checks at hotels and lodges. In case of assistance, the public can contact the Bengaluru City Police by dialling 112.
Due to Security reasons, all invitees are requested to be seated before 8.30am.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched the PM Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana, which is expected to generate 3.5 crore jobs in the next two years. In July, the Union Cabinet had approved the scheme aimed at incentivising job creation in the country. "Today is August 15 and we are launching a ₹ 1 lakh crore scheme for the youth of this country. It is good news for you that PM Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana is being rolled out from today," Modi said in his Independence Day speech. He said that under this scheme, the youth getting their first job in the private sector will get ₹ 15,000 and the companies employing them will get incentives. * With an outlay of ₹ 99,446 crore, the PM Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY) aims to incentivise the creation of more than 3.5 crore jobs over two years. Of these, 1.92 crore beneficiaries will be first timers, entering the workforce. * The benefits of the scheme would be applicable to jobs created between August 1, 2025, and July 31, 2027. * The scheme consists of two parts: Part A is focused on first-timers, and Part B is focused on employers. * Jobs created between August 1, 2025 and July 31, 2027 are eligible * Must be first-time private sector employees * Must be registered with the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) * Monthly earnings should be up to ₹ 1 lakh * Employees will receive one month's EPF wages up to ₹ 15,000 in two instalments. First instalment after 6 months of service and second instalment after 12 months and completion of a financial literacy programme. * Employees will get direct benefit transfer (DBT) via Aadhaar Bridge Payment System (ABPS) * Incentives for hiring employees earning up to ₹ 1 lakh * Up to ₹ 3,000 per month will be given for each new employee for two years * For manufacturing employers, incentives are extended to the third and fourth years * Employers must maintain new hires for at least six months * Employers must hire two extra staff if they have fewer than 50 employees, or five extra if they have more than or equal to 50 * Employers will get funds directly into PAN-linked bank accounts

Patriotic fervour marks ID celebrations
Impressive march pasts and cultural programmes marked Independence Day celebrations in Kurnool, Anantapur and Nandyal district. Participating in the event at the Police Parade Grounds in Anantapur, Minister for Finance Payyavula Keshav said the government was working hard to fulfil the aspirations of the people by giving equal importance to development and welfare. On the occasion, he recalled the contribution of many leaders for the country's Independence. He also listed the various government programmes. Anantapur and Hindupur MPs Ambica Lakshminarayana and B.K. Pardhasaradhi respectively and in-charge District Collector Shiv Narayan Sharma also participated. In Nandyal, Minister for Roads and Buildings B.C. Janardhan Reddy hoisted the National Flag at an event organised at the PSC&KVSC Government Degree College Grounds in the town in the presence of District Collector Rajakumari Gania and Superintendent of Police Adhiraj Singh Rana. Addressing a gathering of students and people, Mr. Janardhan Reddy hailed leaders like Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, 'Andhra Tilak' Gadicherla Hari Sarvottama Rao and others who have contributed for freedom fight. Cultural programmes by children of various government schools enthralled the audience during the celebrations. The National Flag was hoisted at all the government offices, district police unit offices and government institutions and universities on the occasion.
