Disney Announces New Theme Park Location in the Middle East
Having received worldwide recognition for its unparalleled contribution to the animation industry, continues to expand its influence over the globe by announcing a new Disneyland theme park and resort in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.. This would mark the seventh time that the entertainment giants have opened such an establishment in the world.
The mass media conglomerate confirmed plans for a new Disneyland theme park resort in the Yas Island region of the United Arab Emirates' Abu Dhabi. However, Disney has yet to unveil an official date for the park's launch.
Shedding more light on their vision for the recently announced theme park resort, the House of Mouse noted in an official statement, 'This seventh Disney theme park resort will combine Disney's iconic stories, characters, and attractions with Abu Dhabi's vibrant culture, stunning shorelines, and breathtaking architecture.'
Here's the announcement video shared by Disney:
Meanwhile, Bob Iger, who serves as the CEO of the Walt Disney Company, has stated in a financial results conference call, 'We did study the region very carefully, and we know we had many opportunities. Obviously, building a theme park in a location is a huge endorsement of the location.'
Disney also shared concept art for their latest park and resort, showcasing a spiraling castle, seemingly made of crystal, at the center of Yas Island. In addition, the graphic reimagining of the facility also features a plethora of waterfall joints.
Yas Island already boasts a horde of other commercial theme parks similar to Disneyland, including Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, a 3D movie theater, the roller coaster with the highest non-inverted loop, the fastest coaster built yet, as well as the renowned SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, which currently holds the Guinness World Record for hosting the world's largest indoor marine theme park.
The media company is set to join hands with a United Arab Emirates-based organization, Miral, to make the proposed Disneyland theme park and resort a reality. Notably, Miral is also responsible for developing all the other themed attractions on Yas Island.

Disney+ viewers in UK risk £1k TV Licence fine if caught tuning into new content
Millions of Disney+ viewers are being warned they risk fines of up to £1,000 if they watch new content being added later this year. Usually, if you are watching streaming services like Netflix, Disney+ or Amazon Prime you do not require a TV licence. However, household in the UK is legally required to have a TV licence if they watch or record live TV, regardless of what channel it is on. Disney+ announced last month it had won the broadcasting rights to the UEFA Women's Champions League until 2030. This new deal will allow fans to watch every match live "at no extra cost". The BBC confirmed to Cord Busters last year that viewers will need to purchase a TV Licence if they are to watch live events on streaming platforms. If viewers are caught watching live content without a TV licence, they could be fined up to £1,000. The majority of Disney+ content remains exempt from the TV Licence fee, as long as it is not being broadcast live. These are the occasions when you do not need a TV Licence. 'If you think you're eligible for a free licence but can't apply online, please call 0300 790 6117* and speak to one of our advisors to request an application form (our lines are open between 8.30am and 6.30pm, from Monday to Friday). 'Once we've received your application it may take a few weeks to process. If there are any problems we'll write to let you know. We may also call you if you have given us your phone number. 'There are separate arrangements in place for over 75s on the Isle of Man, the Bailiwick of Jersey and the Bailiwick of Guernsey.' Even if you do not meet the eligibility criteria for a free TV Licence you may be able to get some money back on yours, so long as it is no longer needed. Xabi Alonso makes first major call on Real Madrid tenure
Real Madrid presented new manager Xabi Alonso to the media last week to plenty of fanfare, with the Basque manager's much-awaited arrival met positively by the fanbase. During his opening statements, he give little away about how his team would be setting up. Alonso stayed clear of defintitive statements on how his side would play, or what players would be there to play it, with the future of Rodrygo Goes thought to be up in the air – the Brazilian has since informed Los Blancos that he is keen to stay. The ex-Bayer Leverkusen man did note that he would be moving Jude Bellingham further back in midfield though, and that he wanted his side to be protagonists. Xabi Alonso makes Real Madrid formation decision According to Marca, Alonso has decided to park his preferred 3-5-2 formation at Leverkusen for the time being, and will work towards a 4-3-3 system for the time being. Previous reports had noted that Alonso was not thinking about making a radical change before the Club World Cup, and would reassess afterwards, and the Madrid-based daily explain that the coaching staff feel the current squad his not set up to play three at the back, although the 4-3-3 will not be the only system in mind. Image via Marca Vinicius Junior conversation incoming One of the things that has worried Alonso most after a detailed analysis of Los Blancos' recent games is the defensive attitude of some of his players, and Alonso is keen to emphasize that defending is required from the whole team. If that 4-3-3 does come into place, Vinicius Junior will likely be on the left wing, and he will hold a conversation with the Brazilian to make that clear to him. A system that benefits…? In theory, this system would benefit Rodrygo Goes more than anyone, who together with Brahim Diaz has a more natural position in a 4-3-3 than a 3-5-2. At the very least, they would have a clearer path to a starting spot. It is news that may be less encouraging for the likes of Dai Carvajal, Antonio Rudiger, Eder Militao and Raul Asencio, who with new signings arriving in their positions, face increased competition without increased spaces in the starting XI.
