Bafta Awards 2025: From mermaidcore to gothic glamour, these are the most daring looks on the red carpet
Hollywood's brightest stars arrived in London for the 2025 Baftas – and showed off a whole load of eye-catching red carpet looks in the process.
The biggest names in the film industry opted for high sartorial drama when they descended upon the Royal Festival Hall on Sunday afternoon (16 February) ahead of the ceremony.
The event, which recognises the year's best films and TV shows,is always a highlight of awards season, and guests pulled out all the stops in sequinned gowns, fashion-forward tailoring and monochromatic outfits.
Here are some of the most striking looks straight from the red carpet…
Ariana Grande
The first time Bafta nominee has been method dressing (aka, choosing outfits subtly inspired by her character) during the Wicked press tour, so it was perhaps inevitable that Ariana Grande would go for a Glinda-approved shade of pale pink. Her custom Louis Vuitton dress cleverly played with proportion, offsetting the voluminous skirt with a plunging velvet bodice.
Demi Moore
Was this halter neck sequinned McQueen gown Demi Moore's best outfit from her 2025 awards campaign to date? Quite possibly, yes. The star of The Substance looked both regal and fashion-forward, balancing out the bold pattern and embellishment with simple hair and make-up.
Colman Domingo
You can always rely on Colman Domingo to blow away the competition on the red carpet. The star of Sing Sing has carved out a reputation as one of the most stylish men in Hollywood, and his cheerily OTT Versace ensemble was a beacon of fashion fun in a sea of boring suits. We can't wait to see what he wears at the Academy Awards and at the Met Gala later this year.
Camila Cabello
Singer Camila Cabello resurrected the naked dress trend for 2025, wearing a blush pink corset overlaid with a gorgeously intricate diamante skirt. We can only imagine just how freezing she must have been while posing outside in the British chill.
Zoe Saldaña
The Emilia Perez star's Saint Laurent gown, with its feathered neckline, looked like something that a very glamorous Disney villain might pull out of their wardrobe before causing havoc (in the most complimentary sense possible).
Gwendoline Christie
The Game of Thrones and Star Wars actor can always be relied on to make a statement on the red carpet with a bold look, and her Bafta ensemble was no exception. Gwendoline Christie opted for gothic glamour in a high-necked black gown with lace detailing at the shoulders and witchy deconstructed sleeves. Her icy blonde, waist-length hair deserves a moment of appreciation, too.
Molly-Mae Hague
The UK's premier influencing powerhouse made her Bafta red carpet debut wearing a sculptural all-black gown featuring her trademark oversized sleeves. It is more of an avant-garde look than we've come to expect from the former Love Island star.
Monica Barbaro
It may be her first time on the awards season circuit, but A Complete Unknown star Monica Barbaro, who plays Joan Baez opposite Timothée Chalamet in the Bob Dylan biopic, has already carved out a reputation as one to watch on the red carpet. This barely-there sequinned number, with its slightly scalloped hem and wavy embellishments, makes her look like a high-fashion mermaid in the best possible way.
David Tennant
The former Doctor Who star is never one to shy away from bold sartorial choices. As he returned to Bafta hosting duties for the second year in a row, David Tennant opted for a long-line jacket with embellished lapels and edges, complete with a bedazzled shirt and tie. Well, it's certainly more interesting than a tuxedo...
Hannah Dodd
Bridgerton star Hannah Dodd added some intrigue to a classic black dress with an eye-catching bejewelled over skirt. It's a stellar look well worthy of the diamond of the season.
Kelly Rutherford
Gossip Girl 's Kelly Rutherford channelled her inner Lily van der Woodsen in a dramatic, sculptural black gown complete with a high-low hem and an unexpected cut-out at the waist. Somehow, the actor even managed to make black opaque tights look red carpet-worthy.
Jeff Goldblum
The Wicked star looked dapper in a tailcoat paired with a feather-embellished waistcoat and his signature shades.
AJ Odudu
You only have to look at the array of incredible outfits AJ Odudu wears to host the Big Brother live shows to know she has superb taste. For this year's Baftas, she pulled off one of her most sensational looks yet. The presenter looked like a high fashion Princess Leia in this draped, hooded white dress complete with a thigh-high split.
Stacy Martin
Another star bringing a touch of mermaidcore to the Royal Festival Hall was actor Stacy Martin, who looked seriously ethereal in a pale green gown dripping with sequins and embellishment.
Vera Wang
An upside-down bralet. Square sunglasses that could be straight out of a sci-fi film. Bared midriff. A peplum skirt. Safe to say, there was a lot going on when it came to Vera Wang's Bafta look, but the designer (who, if you needed a reminder, is 75 years old) pulled it off with her usual aplomb.
Nabhaan Rizwan
Kudos to Rising Star nominee Nabhaan Rizwan for going all out with this floral ensemble, which cleverly played with print. Much like Colman Domingo, he proved that formal dressing doesn't have to mean sticking to a boring formula.
Coralie Fargeat
The Substance director Coralie Fargeat won the award for most relatable Bafta outfit, layering a long puffa coat over her sparkling gown. Think football manager chic meets red carpet glam.

Shameless star made OBE says Prince of Wales joked about her playing Elizabeth I
Shameless star made OBE says Prince of Wales joked about her playing Elizabeth I Anne-Marie Duff said she and the Prince of Wales laughed about her previous role Anne-Marie Duff Shameless star Anne-Marie Duff said she and the Prince of Wales laughed about her previous role playing Elizabeth I as she was formally made an OBE. Ms Duff, 54, played Fiona Gallagher in Channel 4's Shameless TV show and won a best supporting actress Bafta for her role as Grace Williams in Apple TV's series Bad Sisters. The actor also performed as Elizabeth I in the 2005 to 2006 BBC dramatisation of the monarch's life, titled The Virgin Queen. Discussing that role led William to joke "this should all be old hat for you, or something" during Wednesday's ceremony at Windsor Castle, Ms Duff said. The actor spoke to the PA news agency inside the Berkshire royal residence after being formally made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to drama. Asked if the event had been as expected having played Elizabeth I, she said: "(Windsor Castle) is like a treasure chest, isn't it? Because every piece of every room is swollen with history and art and value, so it's very specific. Article continues below "To be in this environment where people do live and do sit down and have their dinner and all of those things – you know, when you're on location, you don't really have that feeling of something like that, but this is someone's home, which is just extraordinary to me." The Virgin Queen was not filmed at royal residences for security reasons, she said. Ms Duff lives in north London and has a son with her former husband and Shameless co-star James McAvoy. She said she and the Prince of Wales discussed balancing work and parenting and "how we're all kind of the same". Her next guaranteed job is not until 2026 and she said she cannot talk about other projects that may pop up before then. "There's so much nonsense now, you can't even read scripts now without NDAs (non-disclosure agreements)", she said. "The streamers are like old Hollywood studios, it's like that, it's so bonkers, so you don't get to sort of enjoy the prelude to things with people – you can't say, oh my god, yeah, I'm going to be doing (this). You have to keep everything on the down-low." She laughed as she said: "I would love to tell you, Your Royal Highness, but ... " "There are snipers everywhere, that's what it feels like, seriously, the walls have ears", she added. Ms Duff said a play would be the "juiciest" next project for her because she prefers the "communion with people" in theatre, as well as the immediacy and "being in charge of the chronology". She said she discussed her preference for the stage with William. She told PA: "If a light bulb blows, we still go on. It's all of that and the jeopardy of it – when things go wrong, you become so resourceful and having each other's back as a company." Article continues below Asked how she felt after being formally made an OBE, Ms Duff said: "Fabulous, really lucky. You never imagine that – I think especially for people who work in the arts – you never really have a sense of what you do as having a great deal of importance or being a contribution to anything. "You're just so busy working away. It feels extraordinary to be recognised."

Amazon slashes Ariana Grande's 'divine' perfume to £42
'Had lots of compliments whilst wearing this perfume. First time buying it and it's a lovely day scent, would definitely buy again.' Amazon shoppers are flocking to buy a 'divine' celebrity perfume that brings in many compliments. Ariana Grande's Cloud would usually cost £53 for a 100ml bottle but has had 19% knocked off, bringing it down to £42.95. There are three scents in the Cloud range, the original blue scent in addition to Cloud Pink and Cloud Intense. Cloud opens up with lavender, pear and bergamot before settling into a very sweet heart of whipped cream, coconut, praline and vanilla orchid. It has a well balanced base of musk and woody notes. Cloud has been compared to Maison Francis Kurkdjian's Baccarat Rouge 540 which retails at an eye-watering £245 for a 70ml bottle, although it is overall much sweeter. Similarly comparisons have been drawn to Burberry Her which is currently reduced to £102.75 on LookFantastic. Cloud has pulled in over 16,000 five-star ratings on Amazon with shoppers loving its longevity and even comparing it to a much more expensive scent. One shopper said: "Had lots of compliments whilst wearing this perfume. First time buying it and it's a lovely day scent, would definitely buy again." Another was thrilled, writing: "This does smell very similar to MFK's Baccarat Rouge 540 with slightly less projection and similar sillage. This smells divine during the mid and drydown but the initial 5-10 minutes can seem a bit cloying. Cotton candy wrapped cloud would be a good description of this scent." The bottle design has been a little controversial with fans, one said: "This is wholeheartedly one of my favourite scents in the world. It's fruity almost with a vanilla undertone and it just absolutely jaw dropping, but it's incredibly strong, one spritz and you're done, which is good for long term but sometimes feels overwhelming. The bottle is very 'childish', a big cloud, but is removable so not to worry." Another shopper insisted that the perfume brings in a lot of compliments, penning: "This is my absolute favourite perfume ever! It smells sweet yet simplistic and lasts so long l. I get many compliments when I wear this perfume and definitely a great price for the 100ml one!"

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Daniela Nardini, who became a household name as lawyer Anna Forbes in the 1996 BBC2 hit series This Life, is now barely recognisable from her days on screen. The actress, who also graced episodes of the Scottish crime drama Taggart, was close to quitting acting before securing her role in the acclaimed sitcom. This Life, which spanned 33 episodes and 11 years, followed a group of aspiring law graduates navigating their careers at a London law firm. The show enjoyed two successful series and a sequel TV movie in 2007 titled This Life +10. Daniela's portrayal of Anna won her a BAFTA at the age of 57, but she later chose to leave the limelight and now runs her own cognitive behavioural therapy practice in Glasgow. Her second BAFTA came in 2009 for her performance in the BBC Four drama New Town. Daniela's career also included roles in Vera, Waterloo Road, and The Fades, until she stepped back from acting in 2019, reports the Express. Pursuing a new direction, Daniela trained as a mental health professional, offering support to individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, behavioural issues, and those affected by cancer and addiction. Three decades after her breakout role, Daniela has transformed remarkably, embracing a fresh chapter in her life. In a Psychology Today profile, she reflects on her extensive acting career, stating: "I have worked as an actress for over 35 years. (Image: BBC) "This has been an invaluable education for me to study what it is to be human and how we can all suffer at times and feel misunderstood and lonely. "I myself have struggled at times. My practice involves helping you gain insight, clarity and believe it or not humour at times. I don't shock easily so I won't judge." Speaking with the Daily Mail in 2020, she shared her personal tribulations saying: " went through a very dark period. Sometimes I wonder if it was all the emotional stuff I was going through that caused my cancer.'" She added: "A couple of years down the road, I now feel as if I've emerged stronger and a better person, really. Anna would be proud."
