Five militants arrested in violence-hit Manipur
Three active cadres of the banned Prepak were apprehended from the Keirao Khunou area on Sunday, a senior officer said.
"Two of them are juveniles and have been treated as per the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act," he said.
Two cadres the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (PWG) were arrested from the Keibi Heikak Mapan Awang Leikai area on Sunday, he said.
The two militants were involved in "extortion activities", and they were held when they had come to collect extortion money, the officer said.

1,374 children rescued in Cyberabad under Operation Muskaan-XI
A total of 1,374 children were rescued from various forms of abuse including child labour, begging, and illegal employment by the Cyberabad commissionerate between July 1 to 31. Eleven dedicated teams, each comprising one sub-inspector, three police constables and one woman constable, were deployed across divisions. These teams, supported by the Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), conducted inspections at industries, shops and commercial establishments, in addition to special drives targeting child begging. Rescued children were documented and uploaded to the Darpan App for official records. Of those rescued, 1,328 were boys and 46 were girls. Among them, 914 were identified as being from outside the State, including 888 boys and 26 girls, while 460 were local, as per the information shared during a convergence meeting held on July 2. A majority of the children, 1,367 in total, were found working in miserable conditions. Others were rescued from orphanages or were found begging. The police ensured that 1,321 children were reunited with their families, while 53 were sent to shelter homes for further care and protection. Legal action was taken with 316 cases registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, including Sections 75 and 79, Section 14 of the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Amendment Act 2016, and Sections 17 and 18 of the Bonded Labour Act. Additionally, photographs of children in 264 missing cases were uploaded to the Darpan App to aid in their identification and tracing.

3 members of banned outfits held in Manipur
Imphal: Security forces have arrested three active members of different proscribed outfits from various locations in the state for their alleged involvement in extortion and armed attacks. On Friday, a cadre of Kangleipak Communist Party (Military and Financial Liberation), identified as Yumkhaibam Ronaldo Meitei (24), was apprehended from Imphal East. Preliminary probe revealed his involvement in a firing incident at a govt official's residence in Imphal West in March this year. Manipur Police also arrested Yumnam Sushintakumar Singh (26), an active member of the People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK), from Wabagai Mairenbam Leikai in Kakching district on Friday. In yet another operation, a self-styled lieutenant of PREPAK (Red Army), Lisham Sanayamba Singh alias Thangjinganba alias Thoujal (33), was arrested from his residence in Uyumpok Maning Leikai, Imphal East. Meanwhile, two persons from Assam were arrested in Imphal West for their alleged involvement in an inter-state cybercrime racket using mule bank accounts for illegal transactions, police said. NIA arrests second key accused in 2024 kidnap, murder in Manipur's Jiribam
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested another key accused in connection with the murder of three women and three children in Manipur's Jiribam district last year, further escalating tensions in the violence-hit state, the agency said on accused, Lalrosang Hmar, was arrested from Aizawl in Mizoram on Thursday.
