Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson's Relationship Explained

Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson's Relationship Explained

Cosmopolitan5 hours ago
If you self identify as someone who's been (maybe delusionally) obsessed with Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson since Dawson's Creek, it's happening. And by "it" I mean Katie and Joshua have reunited for another project—and considering they're both currently single, the internet is doing its thing. But for those of you who are brand new here, we've laid out a timeline so you can catch up to our level of unwell.
Production begins on Dawson's Creek, which is when Katie and Joshua meet for the first time. Their chemistry is absolutely off-the-charts on screen, which makes sense: turns out they were dating in real life. More than that, Joshua was Katie's first love.
Katie confirms their relationship to Rolling Stone (via the Daily Mail), saying "I'm just going to say that I met somebody last year, I fell in love, I had my first love, and it was something so incredible and indescribable. I feel so fortunate because he's now one of my best friends. It's weird, it's almost like a Dawson-and-Joey type thing now."
She adds, "He's been in the business so long, and he's really helped me. I respect him as a friend and as a professional."
QUICK BREAK FOR THIS:
Joshua and Katie call it quits after season one of Dawson's Creek, but they stay super close friends throughout the show's entire run.
We're blessed with this photoshoot. And they're "just friends" at this point, mind you!
Dawson's Creek ends, the world never fully recovers, etc.
On that note, making everyone watch this real fast:
Joshua reveals that Katie got in touch with him after her divorce from Tom Cruise, saying of their convo, "Like any old friend, it was like, 'Oh, hi how are ya? What's going on?' 'I had a kid' 'Yeah, that's crazy, I heard!' It was nice, it was very nice, actually."
Joshua tells Conan O'Brien about how awkward it was to film Joey + Pacey romance scenes after he and Katie broke up:
The Dawson's Creek cast reunite in Entertainment Weekly and fans immediately read into things.
Katie tells The Sunday Times that she's in touch with the cast "every now and then" and that "everyone's grown up and is busy, but the bond will for ever be there."
Joshua says "Katie and I are very close" during a podcast. Hmmm!
Amid news breaking that she and Joshua are reuniting for the film Happy Hours, Katie says the project is a "testament to friendship."
Filming begins on Happy Hours and I think the vibes speak for themselves....
That brings us up-to-date, but we'll keep this updated!

Tom Cruise Rocks Out at Oasis Reunion Even Though the Gallaghers Don't Like His Movies

Tom Cruise popped up at one of Oasis' reunion gigs in London over the weekend, officially putting to rest any lingering rumors surrounding the incredibly low stakes and deep cut (certainly by Oasis' standards) beef between the actor and band. Cruise kept a relatively low profile at Oasis' July 25 gig at Wembley Stadium, but he was spotted by the DJ/producer Goldie, who happened to be sitting a few rows ahead of him. Cruise can be seen in the background of one video Goldie posted on social media, while the DJ also snapped a selfie with the movie star. More from Rolling Stone Noel and Liam Gallagher's Brother Charged With Rape Liam Gallagher Declares Oasis Concerts Safe for Cheaters: 'We Don't Have That Coldplay Camera' That Spicy Oasis Doc You Heard About? No Such Thing While it would obviously make sense for a gigantic movie star who largely resides in London to attend one of the biggest concert events of the year, Cruise and Oasis do have a prickly history, as NME notes. Back in Oasis' 2007 tour doc, Lord Don't Slow Me Down, there's a scene in which brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher find some rare common ground, which just so happens to be roasting Cruise. 'He's a little fucker, and he's not been in one good film in his entire career,' Noel declared. Liam then proclaimed that Cocktail was 'great,' then seemingly dismissed the (actually correct) opinions of others in the room who said Eyes Wide Shut was good, too. Liam then added, 'I hate Tom Cruise. Bastard. Him and [footballer] Michael Owen.' If these comments ever rankled Cruise, it seems like he's gotten past them, certainly for the good of Rock & Roll. Also, for what it's worth, there was a very classically vague tabloid report in 2009 suggesting that, a couple of years after Lord Don't Slow Me Down, Cruise and Liam 'made polite conversation' after running into each other at a Berlin hotel. Oasis have a few more shows left in London before continuing the U.K. and Ireland leg of their reunion tour. The run will touch down in North America later next month, with additional shows scheduled in Mexico, South Korea, Japan, Australia, and South America through November. Watch Gracie Abrams Cover Taylor Swift's ‘All Too Well' During L.A. Concert

Gracie Abrams took a moment from her show to play a song that isn't hers, but that her fans definitely know: 'All Too Well (10 Minute Version).' During her show at the Kia Forum on Thursday, the musician played the Taylor Swift favorite. 'It just is not lost on me that the reason that a lot of us know each other is because I got to meet many of you through doing the Eras Tour with Taylor,' Abrams told the crowd. 'I just feel like I'm forever missing what that experience was. I know we all feel that way … I wanted to sing a song for you that I'll forever wish I wrote, if you've got 10 minutes.' Abrams was one of the many openers of Swift's Eras Tour in 2023 and 2024, and even joined Swift onstage during her part of the show several times. During one night in London, Swift and Abrams sang 'Us' together, in Toronto, they did a mash-up of 'Us' and 'Out of the Woods,' and during one of the final nights in Vancouver, the pair performed 'I Love You, I'm Sorry' and 'Last Kiss.' When she was nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammys last year, Abrams spoke to Rolling Stone about the most significant milestone moments of the year, and spoke of joining Swift on the road, saying she gained experience 'from watching Taylor's show as many times as I have and just kind of being in close proximity to her, learning from her as a musician and as a friend and as a business person.' Swift and Abrams dueted on 'Us' on Abrams' The Secret of Us album. 'I am currently smiling and sweating thinking about it, and I'll never get over the shock of seeing this one on the tracklist. You know how I feel,' Abrams wrote on X when she dropped the song. Abrams is nearing the end of her The Secret of Us Deluxe tour with shows at Colorado's Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Mexico City's Pepsi Center WTC still left before the end of August. Kelly Clarkson's Ex-Husband Brandon Blackstock Dead at 48

Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, died on Aug. 7 at the age of 48. The cause was melanoma, a type of skin cancer, the Silver Bow County Coroner Dan Hollis told Rolling Stone on Aug. 11. 'It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years,' Blackstock's family said in a statement shortly after his death. 'He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family.' The Blackstock family said they would not be commenting further about Blackstock's death. Coroner Hollis confirmed to Rolling Stone that Blackstock had a natural death after fighting melanoma. 'He passed away peacefully at his home in Butte, Montana, on August 7 under hospice care surrounded by his family,' he said. The news of Blackstock's death comes just a day after Clarkson postponed several of her Las Vegas residency shows to be 'fully present' with her family and kids while Blackstock dealt with his illness, which had not been made public. 'While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill and at this moment,' she wrote on Instagram Wednesday. 'I need to be fully present for them.' Blackstock and Clarkson started dating in 2012. They married in 2013 and had two children: a daughter, River, born in 2014, and a son, Remington, born in 2016. Blackstock was also the former stepson of Reba McEntire, who was married to his father Narvel Blackstock at the time. When Clarkson and Brandon wed, McEntire said: 'To have my buddy as my daughter-in-law, I mean, who could ask for more?' Clarkson penned her song 'Piece by Piece' about her relationship with Blackstock. 'But piece by piece, he collected me up / Off the ground, where you abandoned things,' she sings on the 2015 title track. 'Piece by piece, he filled the holes that you burned in me.' Clarkson eventually filed for divorce in 2020, and it was finalized in 2022, after two years of court contention. Blackstock had served as Clarkson's manager after their marriage (he had previously managed Blake Shelton), an arrangement that caused legal turmoil following the end of their romantic relationship. Blackstock also had two children, Savannah and Seth, from a previous marriage. He became a grandfather in 2022 when his eldest child, Savannah, had a son named Lake. This story was updated on Aug. 11 at 2:40 p.m. ET to include Blackstock's exact cause of death.
