Twin Cities bar makes series of safety changes in wake of shooting nearby

A Brooklyn Park bar has made a series of changes — including introducing a 25+ policy — after a shooting outside left two people injured earlier this month.
On March 5, Brooklyn Park police officers responded to a report of a shooting outside Plush Restaurant and Lounge, located on the 8500 block of Edinburgh Centre Drive North.
At the scene, officers found two individuals with minor gunshot wounds. The victims declined on-site medical assistance and instead drove themselves to a nearby hospital.
Witnesses told police the shooting occurred when a dispute between two groups led to a man pulling out a handgun and opening fire.
On Wednesday, the Brooklyn Park Police Department announced it had arrested a 36-year-old man in connection with the shooting. He is being held on second-degree assault charges.
Plush Restaurant and Lounge temporarily closed following the shooting. When it announced its reopening on Instagram, the bar also rolled out a new policy restricting entrance to those 25 and older starting at 8 p.m.
The change is meant to create a 'more focused and mature atmosphere,' according to the Instagram post.
Plush Restaurant and Lounge will also implement a new dress code policy as part of the changes.
"These measures are designed to ensure that Plush remains a safe, secure and welcoming environment for all our guests," the announcement reads.

Family of Bitcoin Influencers Hide Their Crypto Codes on Four Continents to Deter Kidnappers

That's certainly one way to get the crypto thieves off your back, maybe... A family who struck it big in Bitcoin investing years ago has a quite unusual strategy to deter potential kidnappers: hiding their cold storage seed phrases in hidden bunkers located all over the world. The Taihuttus claim they struck digital gold after dropping everything to invest in Bitcoin in 2016 (the asset was only about $900 then, while it is currently trading at a value of approximately $110k). As a result, they presumably have lots and lots of money and have branded themselves as the 'Bitcoin Family' on Instagram. The head of the family (and the most visible presence on social media), Didi Taihuttu, says that, in these most dangerous times, he has hidden his crypto codes at various bunkers scattered across four separate continents. 'We have changed everything,' Taihuttu recently told CNBC. 'Even if someone held me at gunpoint, I can't give them more than what's on my wallet on my phone. And that's not a lot.' Taihuttu also told the news outlet that in addition to hiding the seed code snippets at physical locations he has also squirreled them away in blockchain-based encryption services online. It's sort of the equivalent of cutting your house key into a bunch of little pieces and then throwing those pieces out the window of your car as you drive down the highway. The Taihuttus also apparently travel all the time, so they're a bit of a moving target for any would-be robbers. The reason the family is going to extreme protective measures should be obvious. Armed robberies, kidnappings, and even murder have plagued the crypto community in recent years, as organized crime has honed in on digital assets as a prize that can be pried loose from extravagantly wealthy hands. A criminal case currently unfolding in New York that involves a crypto millionaire who was allegedly kidnapped and tortured for two weeks is just the latest sign that the web3 world has a target on its back. This, to me, would seem to be the latest sign that crypto ownership is less and less worth it. When you have to travel constantly and keep your passcodes in a secret bunker in South America just to keep criminals from kidnapping your family, maybe it's a sign that the business you've chosen isn't all it's cracked up to be. Then again, the Taihuttus seem fabulously wealthy and always appear to be staying at a different luxury resort, so maybe it's all worth it. It's a prison of their own making, but it's a luxurious prison, so who's to say?

Country singer Conner Smith hits, kills woman walking dog in crosswalk, police say

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A woman was killed when she was hit by a vehicle while walking a dog in the Germantown neighborhood of Nashville Sunday night. Investigators have identified the driver as 24-year-old Conner Smith, a country singer and Nashville native. According to local police, 77-year-old Dorothy Dobbins was walking from a dog park and was in a crosswalk when she was hit by a pickup truck. Dobbins was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she died. Investigators believe Smith was driving a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck north on Third Avenue North as Dobbins was crossing when he hit her around 7:30 p.m. Police said Smith showed no signs of impairment. The preliminary cause of the crash was Smith 'failing to yield the right of way' to Dobbins, the agency said in a release. As of Monday, no charges had been filed. 'On June 8th, Mr. Smith was involved in a car accident that tragically claimed a life. His heart goes out to Ms. Dobbins' family during this incredibly difficult time. Mr. Smith continues to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation,' Smith's attorney said in a statement to Nexstar's WKRN. Photos from a performance in Nashville were posted to Smith's official Instagram page Sunday, but there was no statement on the crash. Smith appeared to be back in his hometown for CMA Fest, a country music festival that took place over the weekend. His most popular songs include 'Creek Will Rise' and 'I Hate Alabama.'
