Teenager arrested after car theft in Co Clare that left woman (70s) hospitalised
The theft occurred at approximately 6:15pm, a garda spokesperson said. During the course of the theft, a woman in her 70s suffered 'non-life threatening injuries' and was taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment.
A number of garda units were dispatched. The vehicle was located in the Clonard area of Parteen having crashed into a ditch.

The male juvenile was arrested and taken to a garda station in Limerick. He has been referred to the Youth Diversion Programme and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions, the garda spokesperson said.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward, particularly anyone with footage of the incident.

A UKRAINIAN SUSPECT in the explosives attacks on the Nord Stream gas pipelines from Russia has been arrested in Italy, German prosecutors said Thursday. Four large gas leaks were discovered in September 2022 on Nord Stream's two pipelines off the Danish island of Bornholm, with seismic institutes recording two underwater explosions just beforehand. The pipelines run between Russia and Germany and had been at the centre of geopolitical tensions after the Kremlin cut gas supplies to Europe in apparent retaliation for Western sanctions resulting from the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Ukraine was quick to blame Russia for the sabotage, as were a number of other European officials. Russian President Vladimir Putin blamed both Ukraine and its allies in the US and UK. Gardai said they 'received a report of an incident of assault" that occurred in the Parnell Street area of Limerick city, at around 9:45pm. A spokesperson said: "A male in his 30s was conveyed to University Hospital Limerick for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.' 'The scene remains preserved for technical examination.' Advertisement Gardai said their investigations 'are ongoing'. A section of footpath outside an off licence premises and a pharmacy remained cordoned off by Gardai this morning. Separately, a man has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being attacked in Dublin city centre overnight. Heartbreak as young GAA star dies in 'tragic accident'
A young GAA star has sadly died following a car crash in Cork, leaving his family, friends and the local sports community in shock. The fatal single-vehicle collision happened on the M8 Southbound, at Upper Riverstown in Glanmire just before 7am on Wednesday. The victim has been named locally as Billy O'Grady from North Cork, who was aged in his 20s. Heartbreaking tributes are being paid by GAA clubs and the wider community, remembering him as a "true friend", a "vital part" of his club and a person of "great character". His club Shanballymore GAA has led tributes to the young hurler by sharing a collection of photos on social media. They wrote: "It is with deep sadness and sorrow that Shanballymore GAA have learnt of the untimely passing of club player and friend Billy. A young man of great character and presence who was a credit to his family and our club. "Our condolences go to his parents John and Caroline, siblings Jordon, Kelly and Ollie, girlfriend Chloe, extended family members, friends and all those in the Shanballymore community. Our focus remains on remembering Billy as a player, friend, and clubmate and supporting his family over this most difficult time in their lives. "As a mark of respect to the O Grady and Butler families, all activities in Shanballymore GAA grounds are paused and the walkway will remain closed until further notice. Ar dheis se go raibh a anam."
