Halakatti played big role in conserving Vachana literature: MLC

Mysuru: JD(S) MLC CN Manjegowda on Wednesday praised the contributions of FG Halakatti for the conservation, preservation, and promotion of Vachana literature, which has transformed the lives of millions of people across the country.
He spoke after inaugurating Vachana Literature Conservation Day, organised in memory of Halakatti at a function jointly organised by the district administration and the department of Kannada and culture, held at Kirurangamandir here.
He also highlighted the contributions of Halakatti, who was an advocate by profession in the North Karnataka region. Halakatti not only collected the Vachanas but also printed and published them, providing wide publicity to spread Vachanas among the masses.
People knew only about 50 vachanakaras, but Halakatti, through sheer hard work, determination, and dedication, collected the vachanas written by more than 250 vachanakaras, Sharanas of the 12th century. He also helped in their (vachana) conservation and preservation. Halakatti played a key role in translating various Vachanas into English language. He advised students to imbibe the qualities of Halakatti and strive for the promotion of Vachana literature.
Additional deputy commissioner P Shivaraju also remembered the contributions of Halakatti for the promotion of Vachana literature outside the state and his sacrifice for its promotion.
JSS Mahavidyapeetha Publications wing director Morabada Mallikarjuna also recalled Halakatti's contributions in organising Vachana recitals in public music events and translating Vachanas into English. He was also instrumental in translating them into several other Indian languages.
Joint director of Kannada and culture VM Mallikarjunaswamy and assistant director MD Sudarshan were present.

CUET Results 2025: The National Testing Agency (NTA) on July 4 declared the results of the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2025 for admissions to undergraduate programmes in Central Universities and other participating institutions across the country. Alongside the results, the agency has also released the list of candidates who secured the highest NTA scores across five subjects. This year, a total of 13,54,699 candidates registered for the examination, with 10,71,735 candidates appearing in the test conducted between May 13 and June 4 in computer-based mode. The exam was held in 300 cities, including 15 international locations such as Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Munich, Kathmandu, and Washington. The examination was offered in 13 languages including English, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, and others. A total of 322 unique question papers and 1,059 total question papers, including 13 languages (total 57,940 questions), were administered over a period of 19 days in 35 shifts. Top Performers According to NTA, only one candidate managed to score 100 percentile in four out of five opted subjects. Additionally, 17 candidates scored 100 percentile in three subjects, 150 candidates in two subjects, and 2,679 candidates achieved 100 percentile in one subject. List of Candidates Securing Highest NTA Score In Five Subjects: Category-Wise Participation Among the total registered candidates, 6,08,705 belonged to the General category, 4,44,227 to OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), 1,44,289 to SC, 84,461 to ST, and 73,017 to EWS. The total number of universities participating in CUET UG 2025 stood at 239. The Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) has started evaluating answer sheets of the Class 10 and 12 second (supplementary) examinations. The evaluation is being conducted in two phases and involves checking nearly 9 lakh answer sheets submitted by more than 3.5 lakh students. Two-phase evaluation process underway According to the MPBSE schedule, the first phase of evaluation is in progress and will continue until July 11, 2025. The second phase is planned from July 12 to July 20, 2025. The evaluation covers answer scripts of students who appeared for the supplementary exams after not clearing one or more subjects in the main board exams. MP Board Supplementary Result 2025: Once the second phase of the evaluation concludes on July 20, the MP Board supplementary results for both Class 10 and 12 are expected to be released by the end of July 2025. MPBSE officials clarified, 'These affected candidates do not have to appear for the MPBSE compartment exam 2025 again.' Visakhapatnam: Education minister Nara Lokesh said that DSC 2025 (teacher recruitment test) was conducted smoothly over a period of 23 days to recruit 16,347 teachers. "The DSC was conducted after a gap of seven years. About 3.36 lakh candidates submitted 5.77 lakh applications, with the exam attendance rate of 92.9%. Despite 31 court cases filed at the behest of the YSRCP, the examinations were conducted with fairness and transparency," the minister added in a social media post on Friday. "Provisions such as SC sub-categorisation and a 3% sports quota were implemented to ensure equity and inclusion in the recruitment process. The initial answer keys have been released, and candidates are encouraged to raise any objections or request corrections within the notified timeline," said Lokesh. He extended a note of appreciation to every district and state official involved in making the examinations a "success.
