Lil Durk Announces ‘Deep Thoughts' Album Release Date From Behind Bars: Watch the Trailer
Durk released a trailer on Monday (March 17), announcing that his Deep Thoughts LP will arrive on March 28 as he remains behind bars without bond. The clip gives fans a look into his creative process as members of the OTF crew communicate with him on calls and run through songs making the tracklist's cut.

'I like the energy [of] what y'all are putting together,' Durk said. 'Even the list of songs you sent me is good so I know y'all putting better changes on that s–t. I know it gon' be bigger and better.'
Prior to being arrested, Durk heated up in the second half of 2024 with singles such as 'Monitoring Me' and 'Turn Up a Notch,' as well as 'Opportunist' and 'Late Checkout' with Hunxho. He even appeared on Central Cee's Can't Rush Greatness standout 'Truth in the Lies' to kick off 2025.
Durk — born Durk Banks — was booked into Broward County jail following his arrest on Oct. 26. Los Angeles federal prosecutors unsealed an indictment accusing OTF crew members — allegedly at Durk's discretion — of a 2022 shooting in Los Angeles targeting Quando Rondo, which led to Rondo's distant cousin Lul Pab (Saviay'a Robinson) being killed.
Police believe targeting Quando Rondo came in retaliation to Durk's childhood friend King Von's murder in 2020 following an altercation between Von (Dayvon Bennett) and Rondo's crews outside an Atlanta hookah lounge.
'After the [2020] murder, Co-Conspirator 1 made clear, in coded language, that Co-Conspirator 1 would pay a bounty or monetary reward, and/or make payment to anyone who took part in killing T.B. for his role in D.B.'s murder,' prosecutors wrote while using Rondo and Von's initials.
Prosecutors continued: 'Banks put a monetary bounty out for an individual with whom Banks was feuding named T.B. Banks ordered T.B.'s murder and the hitmen used Banks and OTF-related finances to carry out the murder.'
Durk has denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty to all of the charges. He's remained behind bars without bond and will head to trial on Oct. 14.
The Chicago native's last studio album, Almost Healed, arrived in 2023. The project debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and included hits such as the multiplatinum 'All My Life' featuring J. Cole, which reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Ciara reinforces her passion for music with 'CiCi.' The album is her first since 2019
NEW YORK (AP) — Ciara will deliver a new bundle of joy on Friday, but it's not the fifth child her husband publicly flirts with her about. 'It's time. Honestly, I've been working on this album for almost five years,' said the R&B-pop superstar. 'I put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears, as they would say, into this project … I literally gave birth to two babies while I was making this project, too. So, a lot has happened.' Expanding her 2023 seven-track EP 'CiCi,' it's the Grammy winner's first album since 2019's 'Beauty Marks,' her first as an independent artist. 'I was still actively putting out music on the project. So, it's not like I was five years chillin',' said the 'Level Up' artist. 'If I ever stop loving the process and experience, then I'll stop. But I have so much passion for it and I just feel so fortunate that 21 years later, from my first album 'Goodies' to now, that I still have the same excitement I had as a little girl.' Her eighth studio album, 'CiCi' includes songs from the EP such as 'How We Roll,' her 2023 Chris Brown collaboration which reached No. 1 on Billboard's R&B digital song sales charts, 'Forever' with Lil Baby and the sensual bop, 'Low Key.' But the 14-track full-length record, with writing and production from Theron Thomas and J.R. Rotem, separates itself with appearances from Tyga, BossMan DLow and Busta Rhymes. Latto also joins her on 'This Right Here,' an anticipated reunion with Jazze Pha who executive produced her 2004 debut, hitting No. 3 on the Billboard 200. One of the preeminent stage performers in her class and lauded for her dancing, Ciara owns smashes like 'Goodies' which topped the Billboard 100, 'Oh' featuring Ludacris, 'Body Party,' and 'Promise.' Four albums reached the Billboard 200 top 10, including 2006's 'Ciara: The Evolution' which hit No. 1. Family first, but still in love with music In an era where music is often released rapidly, Ciara's leisurely pace has been questioned by fans and critics, wondering if she's traded her love for music for a perceived socialite lifestyle with her Super Bowl-winning husband, Russell Wilson. 'I feel like I don't have to explain anything to anybody,' said the 'Ride' singer, who's recently released collaborations with several Asian artists. 'Not every year has been about music. And sometimes, it's been about me just growing as a human. Sometimes, it's been about me finding my way obviously as a mom, and then I have family now and my husband, being there for him. These are all real things.' It's a perception she aims at on 'Run It Up' with BossMan Dlow, singing, 'No matter how many points I put up on the board, you know they gon' hate / I'm in a league of my own, I'm a wife and a mom / … You ain't gotta worry, you know that we straight.' 'I go from the stage to the classroom. I go from the classroom to the football field to support my husband. Then, I got on my schedule we're gonna go school shopping tomorrow,' said the 39-year-old who wrote on every song. 'That's how my life is, but I would not have it any other way.' 'CiCi' reunites with Jazze Pha Other standout tracks include the previously released slow jam 'Ecstasy' which she later remixed with Normani and Teyana Taylor, and the feel good 'Drop Your Love,' sampling 'Love Come Down' from Evelyn 'Champagne' King. She continued her two-step groove on 'This Right Here,' recreating the nostalgic magic with Pha and resurfacing his memorable 'Ci-araaa!' ad-lib. 'It's always been love with Jazze and I … there was behind-the-scenes type of stuff that was beyond he and I,' referring to the producer who crafted her megahit '1,2 Step' with Missy Elliott. 'People want the classic him. They want me to be me, too, in that moment. And so, I feel like we accomplished that.' Not forgetting to live Becoming one of the first celebrities to gain Benin citizenship as part of a recent law by the small West African nation granting rights to descendants of enslaved people, Ciara hopes to shed light on the country, as well as the continent which has exploded globally in the music market thanks to Afrobeats. She's also expanding her Why Not You Foundation, the nonprofit founded with Wilson in 2014 to help disadvantaged youth with educational and personal development resources. With Why Not You centers already in Atlanta and Pittsburgh, they plan to expand in the New York-New Jersey area. Wilson signed with the New York Giants during the offseason. 'Success to me is yes, putting out music. Being the best artist I can be, hopefully being known as one of the best to ever do it … But it's not solely in that,' she said. 'People lose themselves because they didn't live. I don't want to be that girl – I'm not going to be that girl.' ___ Follow Associated Press entertainment journalist Gary Gerard Hamilton at @GaryGHamilton on all his social media platforms.

Morgan Wallen won't submit No. 1 album ‘I'm the Problem' for Grammy consideration
Next year's Grammys will be yet another ceremony where a blockbuster Morgan Wallen album will not take home any awards. The country music megastar declined to submit his bestselling 'I'm the Problem' for Grammy consideration, according to Hits Daily Double and Billboard, who first reported the news. The LP, featuring singles like 'Love Somebody' and 'What I Want,' debuted in May at No. 1 and has spent 11 weeks and counting atop the Billboard 200 album charts. Wallen did not give a reason for declining to submit the LP. Despite being the biggest contemporary star in a commercially ascendant genre, Wallen has always had a contentious relationship with Grammy voters. A month after the 2021 release of his second studio album, the massive hit 'Dangerous: The Double Album,' Wallen was filmed using a racial slur and was briefly shunned by the music industry. He later pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor in 2024 after throwing a chair off a rooftop bar in Nashville. 'I've touched base with Nashville law enforcement, my family, and the good people at Chief's. I'm not proud of my behavior, and I accept responsibility,' he wrote on social media at the time. He more recently turned heads for a testy exit from the stage at a 'Saturday Night Live' taping. While he quickly returned to selling out stadiums and dominating pop and country charts, his records never regained traction with Recording Academy voters, even as country music redoubled its critical and popular acclaim in recent years. Wallen's only previous nominations came from his duet with Post Malone, 'I Had Some Help.'

No tour, no album, no problem: How Bruno Mars quietly became 2025's most unexpected pop star
Fans wish he'd indulge them a little more, but the "Die With a Smile" singer can't stop breaking records by simply being himself. An emotional Lady Gaga clutches her Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance as she thanks her co-performer, Bruno Mars, before anyone else. With her hair dyed jet black and her eyebrows bleached, she's already abandoned the Western aesthetic stylings of their newly award-winning 'Die With a Smile' collaboration in favor of a new era — but her adoration of him remains strong. 'I don't know music without Bruno,' she says. Mars meekly looks down, obscuring a grin as his sunglasses hide his eyes. That was February 2025, and as of August, their duet has remained among the top 15 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 52 weeks in a row, standing the test of time despite surges of popularity for other genres. We might not know music without Bruno, either. According to data from Luminate, 'Die With a Smile' is the most-streamed song globally for the first half of the year. No. 2 is 'APT.,' Mars's hit with K-pop artist Rosé. For anyone who's left their Spotify on autoplay this year, that might not be surprising, but Mars isn't promoting an album or even on tour. He's one of the biggest pop stars of 2025, becoming the first artist to surpass 150 million monthly listeners on Spotify in January, but he's not acting like it. He's just quietly releasing bangers and performing sporadically at a Las Vegas casino. Nothin' on you Mars is so widely loved and listened to, he doesn't have to promote his work with the intensity of other pop stars with flashy release cycles and high-octane tour performances. That said, his fans, who are called 'Hooligans' in honor of his 2010 album Doo-Wops and Hooligans, would love it if he'd share a little bit more. Though they appreciate Mars's shout-outs, some Hooligans's patience is wearing thin. His Vegas residency tickets are extremely expensive and follow the same setlist he's been using for nearly a decade. They felt like he only engages with fans to sell them things. If that doesn't change in the new era, some fans say they may move on. His songs might be everywhere, but Hooligans are in a posting drought — especially compared to fandoms for other major artists dominating pop culture right now, like Lady Gaga and Sabrina Carpenter. Yet, for some, that's just a part of loving the '24K Magic' crooner. 'As fans, we always want more frequent releases because it's so exciting to get new content from our idols, especially when so much is happening in the industry. Sometimes part of the fan base gets a little frustrated because Bruno goes quiet and we don't get any news about what he's working on, so it feels like we're in the dark,' Herick, a 27-year-old biologist from Brazil who runs an X fan account for Mars, tells Yahoo. 'But with time, you get used to it, and when something new finally comes, we'll enjoy it just as much as we did last year.' Herick has been a Super Hooligan since 2011, when he first stumbled upon 'The Lazy Song.' He says Mars is unique — while onstage, he creates a connection with fans other artists could only hope to emulate. 'You leave a Bruno show with the feeling that your presence there really mattered to him — and there's no better feeling than seeing your idol giving his all,' Herick says. 'He makes a point of learning about our cultures, our language, our traditions — and that's something very meaningful and representative.' What sets Mars apart from his fellow pop stars is his intense worldwide reach. After all, that's why he's dominating global charts over artists like Billie Eilish or Benson Boone. Júlia Christiny, also from Brazil, tells Yahoo she's been listening to Mars since 'Nothin' On You' in 2010. She met him two years into her fandom, and before she could speak English well.'All I could say was, 'I love you,' then I cried for half an hour,' Christiny, a 27-year-old software tester, tells Yahoo. 'I told myself I would learn English so one day I could really talk to him. Twelve years later, I finally met him again … and this time we had a full conversation!' She showed him her tattoo, a drawing of his nose, which she says he loved. Even if he didn't, fandom isn't just about seeking the attention of the artist that people rally around — it's about the community that forms around the singer. Christiny says she's met some of her best friends while bonding online over Mars. 'Bruno just isn't like the others,' Christiny says. 'I think he's the most handsome man alive, but it's way beyond that. His songs are pure perfection; they touch my soul in ways I can't even put into words. It feels like his voice runs through my veins.' Viviana, a 25-year-old dancer and musician from Mexico, first heard Mars's music in 2012 when her dance teacher played 'Runaway Baby.' 'It was instant love,' she tells Yahoo. 'Every time something is released and ends up blowing up, it's like the achievement is mine because I'm there supporting it from the first second …Bruno isn't afraid to take his time creating his art; he's such a perfectionist … and it shows when he releases something.' Just the way you are Mars might not command a fan army with the notoriety and fervor of Taylor Swift's Swifties or BTS's Army, but he loves his Hooligans. His greatest strength is his broad appeal, though. Breanna Walther, president of Suden PR, tells Yahoo that his dominance comes from something other artists struggle to master: 'a timeless brand in music, not just a moment.' 'He's not chasing algorithms; he doesn't need to constantly post or jump on every social media trend because his songs already live in people's lives; at weddings, on road trip playlists, in karaoke nights,' she says. 'He's mastered that sweet spot between cross-generational appeal and current relevance.' 'Uptown Funk' or 'Marry You' are mainstays on the dance floor at milestone events. They're relatively clean, instantly recognizable and bring people of all ages to their feet, Walther explains. His newer releases follow a similar model with strong hooks and a distinct sound that isn't overly reliant on passing trends. Blake Evans, who owns a wedding entertainment company in Nashville, tells Yahoo he's certainly played his fair share of Mars songs while curating the soundtrack for a couple's big day. There are two elements that make a good wedding song, and Mars has both of them down. The first is popularity. People know Mars's songs well enough to sing along with them. 'When people are celebrating, they want anthems,' Evans says. The second is 'danceability' — upbeat, energetic and funky tracks that get people on the floor. Mars doesn't just dominate weddings — even when he's lying low, it still seems like he's everywhere. Seventeen of his songs have more than one billion streams on Spotify, and even the rare few that aren't cheerful are still relentlessly catchy. You have to admire his consistency, which is key if staying power is what an artist is after. Megan Balyk, vice president of Jive PR + Digital, tells Yahoo that innovation is overrated from a publicity standpoint. When Mars did something relatively unexpected with his January 2025 collaboration with rapper Sexyy Red, the raunchy strip club anthem 'Fat Juicy & Wet,' he came as close to flopping as he ever has — the song peaked at No. 17 on the Hot 100 then fell off the chart within two months. The people know what they want from Mars, and it's more of the same. 'Fans now know what to expect from [Mars] … there's a subtle level of nostalgia tied to many of his songs — and that retro vibe balanced with a fresh and modern take makes his songs a hit that never seems to exhaust his audiences,' Balyk says. He's safe and easy to market. It helps that, despite one felony drug arrest in 2011, Mars has mostly managed to avoid controversy. He might not update his social media as much as his pop star peers, but that could be part of his strategy. It makes him seem private and under control. 'Bruno Mars is proof that trust, consistency and likability can be as powerful as reinvention,' Balyk says. His songs are always in your ears, but never in your face. We might not have a song of summer, but we've got a clear frontrunner for artist of the year — even if his hits debuted in 2024. Solve the daily Crossword
