Ireland reduced Zimbabwe to 38-3 at the end of day three with the hosts chasing a target of 292 to win the one-off Test match in Bulawayo.
The Irish started the day on 83-1 with captain Andrew Balbirnie hitting 66 and Curtis Campher making 39 as the tourists continued building their lead.
A valuable 58 from Lorcan Tucker helped Ireland to a total of 298 with Richard Ngarava taking 4-55.
Barry McCarthy, Mark Adair and Matthew Humphreys each picked up a wicket as Zimbabwe struggled in their second innings.

Notre Dame makes offer to wide receiver/cornerback Duvay Williams
The Fighting Irish could use Williams' ability to play more than one position Duvay Williams has received an offer from Notre Dame. The cornerback/wide receiver is class of 2027 out of Junipero Sierra in Gardena, Ca. and he stands six-foot-two and weighs 170 pounds. He's been a Polynesian Bowl All-American. He's also a five-star recruit. Notre Dame has been recruiting hard this offseason, with some exciting commitments. A run to the national championship game will do that. And while this is just an offer, not a commitment, the Irish could probably use a player with two-way skills like Williams. He could either bolster the passing game -- which probably does need bolstering -- or be a part of a defense that has been lockdown of late. We'll see what he chooses. Notre Dame projected to return to the College Football Playoff by Athlon Sports
It's easy to be bullish on Notre Dame as the 2025 college football season approaches, and one national publication projects the Fighting Irish to return to the College Football Playoff. Athlon Sports released its bowl game predictions for every postseason tilt, including the 12-team Playoff, which could be the final time we see the field with this iteration if expansion goes through as expected. This is how the publication has the first round of the CFP stacking up: No. 5 Ohio State vs. No. 12 Boise StateNo. 6 Georgia vs. No. 11 MiamiNo. 7 Notre Dame vs. No. 10 OregonNo. 8 LSU vs. No. 9 Alabama The first-round features several of last year's teams, with LSU, Miami and Alabama entering the field this year. Athlon Sports has Notre Dame beating the Ducks and advancing to the quarterfinals to play Penn State. If the ND-Oregon matchup does take place, it would be just the third meeting on the gridiron ever and first since 1982. The Ducks have never defeated ND. Ronaldo to extend Al-Nassr stay, Saudi sources say
Cristiano Ronaldo is close to agreeing a new contract with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, Saudi sources have told BBC Sport. The 40-year-old Portugal captain's deal was due to expire at the end of June, but sources indicate a two-year extension is close to being finalised. Advertisement Ronaldo posted on social media "the chapter is over" following the Riyadh club's final Saudi Pro League game of the season last month, leading to speculation he was set to leave. Fifa president Gianni Infantino then raised the prospect of him joining a team involved at the Club World Cup after Al-Nassr's failure to qualify for the extended tournament which is being held in the United States. Ronaldo said he had received offers from participating teams but had turned them down. Having helped Portugal win the Uefa Nations League two weeks ago, the former Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus forward appears to have decided to stay in Saudi Arabia, and is said to be considering making his own sports investments in the Gulf nation. Advertisement Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr in 2023 after the termination of his deal with Manchester United. He has scored 99 goals in 111 appearances for the Saudi club, including 35 in 41 matches last term, claiming the league's Golden Boot award for top scorer. Earlier on Wednesday, Al-Nassr parted company with Italian manager Stefano Pioli after less than a year in charge. The ex-AC Milan boss led them to a third-placed finish last season in the Saudi top flight, where they finished 13 points behind champions Al-Ittihad. "Thanks for everything," Ronaldo wrote in a message on social media following news of Pioli's exit, with the 59-year-old set to take charge of former club Fiorentina.
