MP govt develops spiritual trails to attract Ayodhya-Kashi devotees
'Lord Ram was born in Ayodhya and later crowned king, but during his 14-year exile, he is believed to have spent nearly 11 years in Chitrakoot before travelling to the south via Madhya Pradesh,' an official said. 'To attract spiritual travellers, the MP Tourism Board has launched a new initiative titled 'Shri Krishna Patheya'.'
The spiritual circuit maps the journey of Lord Krishna from his birthplace in Mathura to Ujjain, where he is said to have pursued his education, he added.
MP Tourism Board's principal secretary, Sheo Shekhar Shukla, said both states share deep cultural ties, with temples like Kashi Vishwanath and Mahakaleshwar drawing global devotees. The existing Kashi-Mahakal Express already connects the two Jyotirlingas.
The proposed Ganga-Narmada Tourism Corridor aims to link religious centres across the two states, Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Varanasi, Omkareshwar, and Mahakaleshwar, promoting spiritual, wellness, cultural, and heritage tourism.

Indian Railways on Sunday introduced the Jabalpur–Raipur Express, a new train scheduled to operate daily between the two cities. The CM thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for running this express train from Raipur to Jabalpur.(HT File photo for representation) Numbered 11701/11702, the Jabalpur–Raipur Express will depart Jabalpur at 6 am and arrive in Raipur at 1.50 pm. On the return journey, it will leave Raipur at 2.45 pm and reach Jabalpur at 10.45 pm, running all seven days of the week. The nearly eight-hour-long journey will include around eight halts. The express train will stop at Madan Mahal, Nainpur, Balaghat, Gondia, Dongargarh, Rajnandgaon, and Durg, providing improved travel access for commuters. The train comprises a total of fifteen coaches and is expected to offer a convenient, safe, and comfortable travel experience for passengers, according to a post by South Western Railway on its X handle. Trains such as the Amarkantak Express (12853), Durg–Jabalpur Special (01702), and Durg–Bhopal Special (02853), which currently operate between Jabalpur and Raipur, may see reduced passenger loads following the launch of this new service. By travelling on the new Jabalpur–Raipur Express, passengers will be able to cover a distance of approximately 341 kilometres in about eight hours. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai flagged off the Raipur–Jabalpur Express from platform number 7 (Durg end) of Raipur station at 9:30 am on Sunday, as reported by Dainik Jagran. The Chief Minister thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for launching the new train service and said the people of Chhattisgarh would benefit from the improved connectivity, according to PTI. Union Minister for Railways, Information and Broadcasting, and Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw (via video conferencing), Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr Raman Singh, MP Brijmohan Agarwal, South East Central Railway General Manager Tarun Prakash, RPF Inspector General Munnawar Khurshid, and Divisional Railway Manager Dayanand were also reportedly present at the inauguration. This new rail service is expected to make it easier for passengers to access popular tourist destinations such as Nandanvan Zoological Park, Maa Bamleshwari Temple, Kanha National Park, Bhedaghat, and Dhuandhar Waterfall, the report added.

Mumbai Coastal Road promenade to partially open by August 15
Mumbai: By August 15, Mumbai is set to witness the partial opening of one of its most anticipated infrastructure developments—the 7.5-km seaside promenade of the Mumbai Coastal Road (MCR). The coastal road promenade, which stretches from Priyadarshini Park to the Worli side of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, is more than twice the length of the iconic Marine Drive promenade. (Bhushan Koyande/HT Photo) Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will reportedly officiate the inauguration, which is expected to be held on or before Independence Day. The promenade, which stretches from Priyadarshini Park to the Worli side of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, is more than twice the length of the iconic Marine Drive promenade (3.5 km). Out of the total 7.5-kilometre stretch of the promenade, around 5.25 kilometres spanning from Priyadarshini Park to Haji Ali, and from Baroda Palace to Worli, will be accessible to the public by August 15. 'The promenade is almost ready, and tests for speed cameras have also been completed,' said civic chief and administrator Bhushan Gagrani. 'Although access is currently restricted with barricades, the completed sections will be opened to the public on or before August 15.' The initial pedestrian access points will include locations such as Tata Garden, Haji Ali Juice Centre, Mahalaxmi Temple, and three entry points near Worli. These are facilitated through dedicated pedestrian underpasses to ensure smooth and safe connectivity, Gagrani said. The ₹13,984-crore Mumbai Coastal Road spans from the Princess Street Flyover at Marine Lines to the Worli end of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link. It features a 10.58-kilometre, eight-lane expressway connecting Marine Drive to Worli. The promenade, forming a significant part of this larger project, is envisioned as a new attraction for walkers, joggers, and cyclists. Designed with public use in mind, the promenade ranges from eight to 20 metres in width and includes 19 pedestrian underpasses to improve accessibility. Four of these underpasses—located at Amarsons Garden, Mahalaxmi Temple, Worli Dairy, and Bindu Madhav Thackeray Chowk—will initially be opened, each equipped with ramps for differently abled persons. A dedicated cycling track runs along the full length of the promenade, with cycle stands placed at designated points. The area has been developed with public amenities such as benches, litter bins, trees, bio-toilets, and drinking water facilities. Additional toilet blocks are also proposed near the park areas adjacent to the underpasses. BEST has been approached to introduce bus services along the coastal road to meet the expected surge in footfall once the promenade is inaugurated. To support this, four bus bays with shelters have been constructed, along with a dedicated bus terminus near Worli Dairy. For those travelling by private vehicles, two underground parking facilities along Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan Road in Worli have been completed and will be operational soon. These pay-and-park facilities will be managed by agencies under the supervision of the assistant commissioner of the G/South Ward. A comprehensive security arrangement is being implemented to prepare for large crowds and ensure public safety. Personnel from the Mumbai Police, home guards, the coastal police, the Indian Navy, and the Mumbai Maritime Board are expected to be deployed for patrol and surveillance. The BMC's disaster management department and the chief fire officer have also been put on alert to respond to any emergencies that may arise. Cleanliness and order will be maintained by placing litter bins at every underpass entry and exit. The assistant commissioners of the G/South and D wards have been instructed to deploy clean-up marshals and strictly monitor unauthorised hawking. Accessibility remains a key focus, with smooth ramps for differently abled visitors throughout the promenade. Warning signs and safety advisories have been installed to warn the public against the dangers of high tides and discourage climbing on seawalls or tetrapods. Reliance Industries Ltd, appointed as the project's volunteer agency, has been given the promenade's long-term landscaping and maintenance responsibilities. Until their operations begin, the superintendent of gardens will maintain the newly planted trees.

A thorough survey by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) confirms that no pilgrims remain stranded along the Kedarnath Yatra route up to the shrine,' sub-inspector of SDRF Ashish Dimri, who headed the rescue team, said. Heavy overnight rain had washed away a 50-metre stretch of the road, cutting off the main route for vehicles and pedestrians on Wednesday. 'Over 50% of the debris removal work on the affected stretch has been completed, and the route is likely to reopen for pilgrims by Saturday evening,' Dimri said, adding that pilgrims are being stopped at Sonprayag until the route is deemed safe for travel. A total of 84 roads remain closed across Uttarakhand. Rudraprayag and Pithoragarh are the worst-affected districts, with 20 and 17 road closures, respectively, according to official data. District disaster management officials said that the debris is being cleared from the highway with JCB machines and will soon be reopened. Parts of Uttarkashi, Dehradun, Tehri, and Pauri districts experienced light to heavy rainfall till Friday afternoon. The state recorded an average of 17 mm rainfall over the 24-hour period till Friday morning, with several districts reporting surplus rain — Pithoragarh recorded 40.4 mm (90% above normal), Udham Singh Nagar 30.6 mm (144% surplus), Bageshwar 105% above average, and Chamoli 80% above normal.
