Tribal organisations organise bandh in Alluri Sitharama Raju district seeking special DSC for tribals

The Hindu02-05-2025

Following a call given by the Agency DSC Sadhana Committee demanding conduct of a special DSC for the tribals, a large number of tribal youth took part in bandh in Alluri Sitharama Raju district on Friday.
Shops, business establishments in Araku, Paderu, Chintapalli, Ananthagiri and other important areas in the district, were partially closed, while transportation also took a hit as part of bandh.
Members of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and all the tribal organisations supported the bandh. The agitators attempted to stop the buses from the depots and also placed vehicles in middle of the roads.
Member of A.P. Girijan Sangham Killo Surendra said that the Girijan Sangham members met the authorities concerned requesting them to organise special DSC for the tribals. 'However, the response was not great. So, we have decided to organise bandh,' he said, while staging a protest at Paderu along with the members. He also demanded that the teacher posts in the Agency areas be exempted from the Mega DSC notification.
Paderu MLA M. Visweswara Rao, who took part in the protest, said that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had promised to take steps to amend the G.O No. 3 that was struck down by the apex court. Mr. Naidu also assured to conduct an exclusive DSC for the benefit of the tribal youth. However, even after almost one year, the NDA government failed to take any action on this, the MLA said. Mr. Visweswara Rao demanded that an exclusive DSC be conducted for the tribals reserving 100% of the teacher posts in scheduled areas for the tribal candidates.
Araku MP Gumma Thanuja Rani has also participated in the protest.
It was learnt that the tribals have decided to continue their protest on Saturday.

'Rappa Rappa': How Allu Arjun's Pushpa dialogue has sparked fresh Chandrababu Naidu vs Jagan Reddy clash in Andhra

Tired of too many ads? Remove Ads Rappa Rappa dialogue ignites row Supporter's ritual reference sparks outrage Naidu warns against normalising movie violence Tired of too many ads? Remove Ads Nara Lokesh calls Jagan's stance 'dangerous' A fresh political clash has erupted in Andhra Pradesh between Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy , this time over a film-inspired dialogue used by a YSR Congress Party supporter at a public meeting. The supporter, a former Telugu Desam Party (TDP) member who recently joined YSRCP, compared political opponents to sacrificial animals, echoing a scene from the upcoming film Pushpa 2 and referencing the Gangamma Jatara ritual known for animal beheadings. Instead of distancing himself from the violent remark, Jagan repeated and defended it, prompting sharp criticism from Naidu and senior TDP leaders. The exchange has reignited tensions between the two rivals and raised questions about the use of violent imagery in political rhetoric.A former Telugu Desam Party (TDP) worker, now with the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), told the crowd that opponents should be treated 'like in Gangamma Jatara,' a village ritual that involves animal beheading. He used the phrase 'Rappa rappa,' a local idiom meaning 'one by one.' Jagan cited the remark on stage, saying the defector's anger showed how badly the TDP 'failed' voters and asked, 'What is wrong?''Even though he was a TDP member, he joined the YSRCP, displaying a sense of regional anger against the government for its failure on promises. He made statements like 'Rappa rappa, like Gangamma Jatara...' meaning what?' Jagan asked the crowd during an address. 'He meant to say that people are that angry with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, that he has failed them and betrayed them… 'Just like in Gangamma Jatara, where an animal is sacrificed by beheading, they will behave towards TDP — rappa rappa. Good only he said! What is wrong?'' he chief and current Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said such language crosses a line. 'If there is a dialogue in movies that is a joke, can it be put on a flex banner? Do you think that people are killed in movies and it is okay to kill them outside? Do you think that because rape is shown in films, it is acceptable outside as well?' he asked.'If a person thinks, 'I will do anything, I will kill my Babai,' who are you to say? What is the trend? What is the message you're trying to send to the public?' Naidu said. He called recent statements about 'cut off… kill… behead' proof of a 'mindset of criminals.'Andhra IT Minister Nara Lokesh challenged Jagan on social media: 'Will you slaughter them like sheep, @ysjagan? What does it mean that you are defending the language of your admirer? Your attitude is very dangerous for democracy.' He used the hashtags #BloodOnYourHandsJagan and # Minister Payyavula Keshav said, 'When you say, 'People will be killed, rappa rappa,' whom exactly are you planning to kill? If a youth repeats such a line, as a former Chief Minister, Jagan should have condemned it. Instead, he responds with amusement, thereby encouraging such behaviour — which could result in more people fighting and even killing each other.'

Placard with

Amaravathi (Andhra Pradesh) [India], June 20 (ANI): A placard bearing the provocative slogan 'Rapa Rapa Narukutham' (we'll chop heads one by one) caused a stir during YSR Congress Party President and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's tour of Palnadu on Thursday. The slogan, reportedly held by a supporter of the YSRCP, compared a possible YSRCP return to power in 2029 to a traditional ritual during the Gangamma Jatara, where symbolic beheadings take place. The incident gained traction and drew criticism, prompting the police to register a case against the individual and initiate an investigation. Responding to the issue during a press meeting on Friday, YS Jagan made a pointed remark. He questioned, 'Is it wrong to hold a placard with a dialogue from Allu Arjun's movie Pushpa?' referring to the now-infamous phrase. He further added that, upon investigation, it was revealed that the person holding the placard actually belongs to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and holds active membership in it. Taking a jab at TDP leadership, Jagan remarked, 'Maybe he couldn't tolerate the wrongdoings of his own party's leader, Chandrababu, and that's why he was talking about chopping off heads of his own people Earlier, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, YSR Congress Party President and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, accused Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of conspiring to disrupt his meeting with tobacco farmers in Prakasam district. He added that the farmers showed great restraint despite provocation and violence instigated by TDP 'goons.' 'I visited Podili in Prakasam Dist. to meet distressed Tobacco farmers and offer them support, as they have been denied fair prices. Over 40,000 farmers and locals joined me in solidarity. To divert attention from the issue at hand, Chandrababu Naidu connived to send about 40 TDP workers to disrupt the meeting and provoke violence by pelting stones along our route,' Jagan Mohan Reddy said in a post on X. 'Thankfully, the farmers and public showed great restraint and did not retaliate against the acute assaults by TDP goons,' he added. (ANI)
