CCTV at Mahathir's granddaughter's home records only 24 hours, say police
Acting Kuala Lumpur police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad said the break-in and theft of RM1.8mil worth of belongings might have occurred days before it was discovered.
"There was no credible footage discovered as the CCTV system at the house was only able to record for 24 hours, and the theft was discovered after more than 24 hours. However, we are still investigating the matter thoroughly," he said when contacted.
DCP Mohamed Usuf said the police have recorded statements from three individuals in connection with the case.
"We have recorded the statements of three individuals—a domestic helper and security guards—but no arrests have been made. We are still pooling our resources to identify and track those responsible for the crime," he added.
DCP Mohamed Usuf previously stated that the losses involved the victim's jewellery and personal belongings.
"The house is owned by Mirzan Mahathir, but his daughter lives there. When the incident occurred, there was no one at home except for a domestic helper and other staff. There were signs that the back gate of the house was cut," he said.
It was reported that the home belonging to Dr Mahathir's granddaughter in Bukit Ledang was broken into. The victim's domestic helper contacted her after noticing on Wednesday (July 23) that the rear gate had been cut open and her bedroom ransacked.

He was quoted as saying by local news outlet New Straits Times that the identity of the social media account owner is currently unknown. 'I have instructed our investigating officers to contact Meta Platforms Inc in Singapore to help trace the individual behind the Threads account,' Datuk Mohamed Usuf said. The Cyber Division of Malaysia's Commercial Crime Investigation Department will also be asked to help identify the IP address of the account owner, he added. Malaysian media outlet Harian Metro earlier reported that a police report had been lodged by the singer-actor on July 18. Man who stabbed cop in KL tests positive for dugs
KUALA LUMPUR: The male suspect who stabbed a policeman in Pudu Market, Jalan Yew here was under the influence of drugs at the time of the attack. Kuala Lumpur acting police chief Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad said the man tested positive for heroin, with the substance also found on him when he was arrested. "Checks found that the individual has a record of 14 previous crimes, including for drugs," he said on Friday (Aug 1). Mohamed Usuf said the suspect, who was arrested shortly after the incident, has been remanded for seven days until next Thursday (Aug 7). On Thursday (July 31), a policeman was stabbed with a knife in the stomach while conducting a crime prevention patrol with four other policemen. Mohamed Usuf said the policeman is in stable condition but remains under close observation. He added that the case is being investigated under Sections 307 and 186 of the Penal Code for attempted murder using a weapon and and obstructing a public servant in the discharge of their duties as well as Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. – Bernama

Three nabbed, RM4.7mil of syabu seized in raids

The arrests were made last Thursday after two raids were conducted in the Klang Valley. The first raid saw the arrest of a syndicate member at a shopping mall car park, said acting Kuala Lumpur police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad. 'Inspections of his vehicle led to the discovery of a bag containing around 10.34kg of suspected syabu. 'At the same time, a second raid at the same area led to the arrest of two other suspects, including an Indonesian,' he said. In total, three men aged between 32 and 61 were nabbed. The arrests were made while the suspects were moving the drugs around. Follow-up investigations led to another raid at a terrace house within a gated community in Seri Kembangan, where 122 packages of suspected syabu weighing 135.34kg were seized. The total seized drugs were estimated to be worth around RM4.66mil. 'It is believed that this syndicate has been active since May. 'The two Malaysian men arrested were believed to be the main leader and transporter,' DCP Mohamed Usuf said. He added that the house owner would be called in to record his statement. For now, investigations are ongoing to determine the role of the Indonesian member of the syndicate and to trace more members of the syndicate. It is believed that the group was distributing the drugs in and around the Klang Valley, as well as to Indonesia. All the suspects have been remanded for six to seven days from last Friday.
