Dr M celebrated at Palace of the Golden Horses
SERI KEMBANGAN: Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was today celebrated at a special event hosted by Palace of the Golden Horses founder, Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew. Dr Mahathir arrived at the hotel around 1pm with his wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, and was greeted by Lee, Tan Sri Mokhzani, Datuk Seri Mukhriz, and other guests. The event, themed "100 to 100: From Century to Century", also saw the launch of the Malaysia National Vision 2057 project. In his speech, Kim Yew said the philosophy behind the number 100 was not merely a slogan, but a truth he lives by. He said that the number 1 represents health, confidence, integrity and direction, while the zeroes symbolise power, wealth, fame and position. "If the number 1 is lost, all the zeroes mean nothing. But if the 1 is maintained, each zero gains its value. "Mahathir has preserved that '1' his whole life. I hope this struggle will inspire the younger generation," he said. Dr Mahathir holds the distinction of being the longest-serving prime minister in Malaysia's history, having led the country for 22 years from July 1981 to October 2003. He returned to the premiership in 2018 as the seventh prime minister at the age of 93, becoming the oldest person to lead the nation.

Residence Of Tun Dr Mahathir's Grandson Broken Into: Police To Review CCTV Footage From Surrounding Areas
KUALA LUMPUR, July 28 (Bernama) -- The police will examine the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from surrounding areas near the residence of former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's grandson in Bukit Ledang, here, which was reportedly broken into last Wednesday. Acting Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad said the CCTV system at the residence itself was of limited use as it only retains footage for 24 hours, making it difficult to aid in the ongoing investigation. 'The CCTV system at the house was installed in the 1990s and has limited storage capacity,' he told a press conference today. "The incident is believed to have occurred more than 24 hours after the police report was made by the owner of the house, which meant the footage had already been overwritten,' he told a press conference here today. According to Mohamed Usuf, the house is an old house that is rarely visited by Dr Mahathir's grandchildren. "So far, the police have recorded statements from three individuals, namely Dr Mahathir's grandson, a security guard and a maid. The police are also analysing the evidence received, including fingerprints, and this may take some time," he said. According to reports, the residence belonging to the former Prime Minister's grandson was broken into, resulting in the victim losing RM1.8 million worth of jewellery. It is understood that the incident was discovered by the maid at 3 pm last Wednesday after she found the gate at the back of the house had been cut and her employer's room was ransacked. When asked about the case involving singer Shila Amzah, who claimed to have been verbally attacked by another singer, he said the police would record statements from two more witnesses to complete the investigation paper.

CCTV at Mahathir's granddaughter's home records only 24 hours, say police
KUALA LUMPUR: The CCTV system at former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's granddaughter's home in Bukit Ledang records footage for only 24 hours, which might have allowed thieves to evade capture. Acting Kuala Lumpur police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad said the break-in and theft of RM1.8mil worth of belongings might have occurred days before it was discovered. "There was no credible footage discovered as the CCTV system at the house was only able to record for 24 hours, and the theft was discovered after more than 24 hours. However, we are still investigating the matter thoroughly," he said when contacted. DCP Mohamed Usuf said the police have recorded statements from three individuals in connection with the case. "We have recorded the statements of three individuals—a domestic helper and security guards—but no arrests have been made. We are still pooling our resources to identify and track those responsible for the crime," he added. DCP Mohamed Usuf previously stated that the losses involved the victim's jewellery and personal belongings. "The house is owned by Mirzan Mahathir, but his daughter lives there. When the incident occurred, there was no one at home except for a domestic helper and other staff. There were signs that the back gate of the house was cut," he said. It was reported that the home belonging to Dr Mahathir's granddaughter in Bukit Ledang was broken into. The victim's domestic helper contacted her after noticing on Wednesday (July 23) that the rear gate had been cut open and her bedroom ransacked.
