Long-delayed Vikhroli ROB to open today sans fanfare

Long-delayed Vikhroli ROB to open today sans fanfare

Time of India2 days ago

Mumbai: The much-delayed Vikhroli road over-bridge (ROB), a key east-west connector over the railway tracks, will finally be opened for vehicular traffic on Saturday, following a directive from chief minister
Devendra Fadnavis
.
The Vikhroli ROB, built at an estimated cost of Rs 105 crore, will help motorists save 30 minutes of travel time, said BMC officials.
Fadanavis on Friday announced that to avoid inconvenience to Mumbaikars during monsoon, the 615m-long bridge, which connects Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg in Vikhroli West to Eastern Express Highway, will be made operational on Saturday 4pm without a formal inauguration.
The work order for the Vikhroli ROB was issued in April 2018.
BMC had drawn flak from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), which had cited improper planning, non-preparation of estimates as per site conditions, and non-removal of encroachment for the delay. BMC officials had then attributed the delay in the completion of the project to the acquisition of land, removal of structures and trees, and shifting of utilities.
Ganesh Shetty, an activist from Vikhroli who has been pursuing the bridge construction since 2002, said: "The ROB will benefit vehicle users in Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, and Hiranandani Powai, but traffic issues will persist in Vikhroli West, LBS Marg, Tagore Nagar, and Kannamwar Nagar as the internal roads have not been widened."

The approach roads on both sides of Vikhroli ROB, besides work on sound barriers, anti-crash barriers, painting, and road markings, have all been completed. BMC has also created a traffic bay on the western side.
"We have completed all works, including the load tests and issuing of stability certificates for Vikhroli bridge. Besides, signals, cat eyes, and speedbreakers have also been installed. The joint commissioner of police (traffic), who inspected the bridge on Wednesday, issued instructions for the installation of direction boards and gave the go-ahead to open the bridge for vehicles," said a BMC official.

Bareilly's digital road safety drive hits 10m engagements

Meerut: In a departure from traditional road safety initiatives that often rely on fines and enforcement drives, Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly division recently launched a digital campaign titled 'Parvaah' (care), a month-long initiative spanning from April 19 to May 19 that harnessed the power of social media to promote traffic rules and responsible driving, racking up an impressive 10 million engagements across platforms. The campaign's success is particularly significant given UP's grim road safety record. According to the UP Road Safety and Awareness Cell, the state recorded 13,000 road accidents resulting in 7,700 fatalities between Jan and May 20. "Road safety isn't about instilling fear through hefty challans, it's about care and responsibility," said Ramit Sharma, additional director general (ADG) of Police, Bareilly zone and the driving force behind Parvaah. An electrical engineer from IIT Kanpur, Sharma added, "In today's digital age, engaging commuters as active participants is essential. Awareness is key and digital is the way forward." The campaign was driven by 11 dedicated teams, comprising district and traffic police from nine districts: Bareilly, Pilibhit, Badaun, Rampur, Moradabad, Bijnor, Amroha, Sambhal and Shahjahanpur. They flooded social media with over 5,700 posts, 2,618 awareness templates, more than 1,100 videos, and 200 news clippings, each crafted to reinforce the core message: traffic rules save lives. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Buy Brass Idols - Handmade Brass Statues for Home & Gifting Luxeartisanship Buy Now Undo A felicitation ceremony held on Friday saw Rampur police recognised as the top performer for generating the highest social media traction. Bareilly police secured the second position, while the Bareilly traffic police team came in third. Sharing Rampur's strategy, SP Vidya Sagar Mishra said, "We mobilised digital volunteers, educational institutions, and the district administration to amplify the campaign's impact across social media." He added, "But we also made sure to practise what we preached, our traffic police hit the ground to create real-time awareness and uploaded live footage of their efforts." He cited one viral example: a video where a helmetless couple was intercepted, and the wife was counselled to encourage her husband to wear a helmet. The interaction drew widespread attention and positive responses online. "The campaign serves as a powerful testament to how innovative digital strategies, coupled with grassroots engagement, can significantly boost road safety awareness, even in regions battling high accident rates," said ADG Sharma. Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani's son Anant Ambani's luxurious car gets super expensive paint job, it costs Rs..., car is...

Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani's son Anant Ambani's luxurious car gets super expensive paint job, it costs Rs..., car is... It is well documented that the Ambani family has an extravagant lifestyle. The Ambani family lives in Antilia, Mumbai, which is one of the most expensive private homes in the world. Their penchant for luxury also extends well beyond their impressive property portfolio to an incredible collection of luxury cars. The Ambanis have some of the most exclusive and difficult to find supercars, anywhere in the world, including numerous Rolls-Royce Cullian's, Bentleys, Mercedes-Maybachs, and Ferraris. Each vehicle in the Ambani's fleet is personalized and truly shows their refined taste and attention to detail. You might be surprised to find out that the family is so passionate about the Rolls-Royce Cullinan that they have no less than 10 Rolls-Royce Cullinans, every one of which is customized to their unique specifications. According to the news report by Cartoq, one of the Rolls-Royce Cullinans in the Jio garage has a paint job that costs as much as Rs 1 crore. This particular vehicle belongs to Anant Ambani, son of Mukesh Ambani. A video of this Rolls-Royce Cullinan has been circulating online on social media platforms for quite some time. The car shown in the viral clip is a Series I Cullinan, captured around the time the Ambani family bought the luxury SUV. The video highlights their brand-new Cullinan driving in the midst of a convoy of security vehicles. According to PTI, the cost of the vehicle was priced at Rs 13.14 crore. This particular model is the standard version of the Cullinan, not the more exclusive Black Badge variant. When it was available in the market, the standard Cullinan had a starting ex-showroom price of Rs 6.95 crore. If you know anything about Rolls-Royce cars, then you will know that the final price of the car is largely dependent on the level of customization the owner decides on. In the case of a Rolls-Royce, customizations from Rolls-Royce will always be an add-on to the final price, never an offer for a discount. Several media reports suggest that the Ambani family spent significantly more on bespoke features and personalization than the standard base price of a regular Cullinan. One of the standout features of this particular Rolls-Royce Cullinan is its eye-catching paint job, which is reportedly priced around Rs 1 crore alone. Along with the beautiful exterior, the SUV also has a fully custom interior, pushing individuality and comfort even further. It also has 21-inch alloy wheels, with a pricing structure revealed only on request to demonstrate how exclusive they are, while indicating that no expense was spared, the customizations chosen by the Ambani family were never revealed publicly. Apart from the extravagant paint job, the Ambani family went one step further when it came to the car's registration number. The Ambani family is known for their love of premium and unique number plates and would never settle for a normal number, especially on a Rolls-Royce Cullinan. According to reports, they reportedly paid about Rs 12 lakh for the '0001' number plate. Normally, this number costs Rs 4 lakh, but it got so expensive because it had to be bought from a new series. The previously desired numbers in that series had been taken; thus, the RTO made them pay a huge premium, just for the registration.
