She stressed, however, that ministerial positions within the Cabinet are held based on the mandate of the party represented, and not in a personal capacity.
'Although the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) chairs the Unity Government Leadership Consultative Council, every appointed minister serves as the official representative of their respective party,' she said in a statement today.
Azalina, who is also Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform), reaffirmed UMNO's commitment to continue serving the nation within the framework of the Unity Government and to uphold the trust of the people.
She also called on all party members and supporters to remain focused on national development.
'An individual's political stance may change, but the party's struggle for religion, race and country must remain steadfast,' Azalina said.
She added that UMNO's Legal Bureau has been tasked with reviewing the implications of the Anti-Party Hopping Act, including the status of a senator, to ensure that any further action complies with the legal framework.
Last Friday, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, who is also the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, announced his resignation as a member of the UMNO Supreme Council, chief of the Kota Raja Division and a party member, expressing his intention to join Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).

Unity Government council reviews mid-term progress and economic plans
KUALA LUMPUR: The Unity Government Leadership Consultative Council meeting chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today reached several key decisions including a mid-term review of the government's achievements and efforts to strengthen the economy. Its secretariat chief Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said that it has been agreed that the mid-term review being conducted at the Cabinet level be presented to the consultative council to assess matters previously decided upon and to honour the differing perspectives of the parties within the Unity Government. He said the meeting has also decided to evaluate the Unity Government's achievements and carefully consider all feedback directed at the government while focusing on efforts to boost the economy and welfare programmes for the public. 'The establishment of a Technical Committee to study aspects of cooperation among the Unity Government parties in facing the Sabah State Election was also announced,' he said in the statement. He said the meeting also congratulated the country on its achievement and Anwar for brokering a truce between Thailand and Cambodia. Several key leaders of the Unity Government were also seen attending the meeting which was held at the Seri Perdana Complex in Putrajaya namely Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi Gabungan Parti Sarawak chief whip Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof and DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook. Also present were Parti Amanah Negara president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu MIC deputy president Datuk Seri M. Saravanan and MADANI Government spokesperson Datuk Fahmi Fadzil. Akmal Salleh to be charged under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code in Penang on Friday
GEORGE TOWN: Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh has confirmed that he will face court proceedings this Friday. In a post on his Facebook page, Akmal said he had been contacted by police and informed that he would be charged under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code. "However, I am currently performing the umrah in Mecca," he added. "Therefore, I will shorten my umrah and return to face the charge this Friday at the Bukit Mertajam magistrate's court at 8am. "If this is the price I must pay to uphold the sovereignty of the nation, I will not back down even an inch," he said. Section 505(b) of the Penal Code states that anyone who makes, publishes, or circulates any statement, rumour, or report with intent to cause, or which is likely to cause fear or alarm to the public, or to any section of the public, whereby any person may be induced to commit an offence against the State or public tranquillity, shall be punished with imprisonment of up to two years, a fine, or both. Akmal ended his post by requesting prayers and stating: "See you in court this Friday." Last Thursday, Akmal led more than 300 Umno, Bersatu and Pas supporters on a 1.4km march carrying the Jalur Gemilang in a show of respect for the national flag. The gathering followed a recent controversy involving an upside-down Jalur Gemilang displayed at a hardware store in Kepala Batas. Early Saturday morning, Akmal completed giving his statement at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters over the assembly in Kepala Batas. His lawyer, Aizat Azam, said the Merlimau assemblyman had fully cooperated and answered all of the approximately 80 questions posed by the investigating officer.

Wan Fayhsal proposes renaming Malaysia's giant flower, Rafflesia
KUALA LUMPUR: An opposition lawmaker has proposed renaming Malaysia's largest flower, the Rafflesia, in conjunction with the nation's 68th National Day and to break free from the legacy of coloniser Stamford Raffles. Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad (PN-Machang) raised the proposal to Acting Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani in the Dewan Rakyat, urging him to bring the matter to the Cabinet. "In conjunction with Malaysia's 68th National Day, and in the spirit of Tambun (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) who urges us to view our history beyond the colonial framework, could the minister use his powers under NRES to rename Malaysia's largest flower, the Rafflesia? "The name was taken from Stamford Raffles, our coloniser, a man without morals or ethics. Yet, we gave such a beautiful name to our national flower. "Perhaps the minister could propose to the Cabinet to find a more suitable name. Even naming it after Anwar Ibrahim would be fine, no problem, as long as it is better," he said while interjecting Johari's winding-up speech in Parliament today. Wan Ahmad Fayhsal added that it was not right for Malaysia to remain under Raffles's shadow after 68 years of independence. Johari responded by saying he would take note of the suggestion.
