Katherine Ryan pregnant with fourth child as she proudly showcases bump
Comedian Katherine Ryan is expecting her fourth child. The TV star, 41, is already a proud mum to teenage daughter Violet, 15, as well as son Fred, three and daughter Fenna, two, with husband Bobby Kootstra.
Katherine first gave a hint that she was pregnant while making an appearance on her daughter Violet's TikTok page last week, while the teen was sharing her reviews on UK Crumbl. On Monday, the star stepped out at the Ageing and Biohacking: The Science of Immortality at SXSW in London, showcasing her blossoming baby bump.
The star was glowing as she wore a figure-hugging dress, which highlighted her bump while posing on the red carpet. Katherine proudly posed for pictures before appearing on the stage as part of the talk.
A spokesperson for Katherine confirmed the news when approached by the Mirror. The news comes just months after Katherine underwent surgery after being diagnosed with skin cancer. She first spotted the signs after noticing a mole was changing. Prior to this, she had previously been diagnosed with stage two melanoma at the age of 21. Despite doctors insisting that her mole wasn't cancerous, she demanded testing on it.
She said on her podcast: "The mole kept changing, I know a lot about melanoma, I had stage two melanoma as a very young woman - aged 21 - on my leg, I've spoken about that before. But even when he looked at it, he was like, 'it's not melanoma, it's totally fine, I will do a shave and send it away for testing'." The comic went on to add that although her doctor assured her it was nothing to worry about, she felt differently. After the mole was removed, she asked them to take out a larger portion and close it up with a straight stitch. But even when he looked at it, he was like, 'it's not melanoma, it's totally fine, I will do a shave and send it away for testing.'" Soon after the doctor reassured Katherine once more that it was likely not melanoma, she was called back with the confirmation that it was cancerous.
Earlier this year, Katherine opened up on her wishes for a fourth child as she admitted she didn't think time was on her side. The former Celebrity Gogglebox star visited a fertility clinic with husband Bobby and discussed the chances of them being able to conceive.
In the second season of her hit U&W show, At Home With Katherine Ryan, she said: 'It's not that surprising that over-40 women have fewer follicles than we once did.
"But we talk a lot about male fertility as well, which is on a steep decline. But I would still like a fourth baby. We are so blessed to have the kids that we do have. Having children is not for everyone, but I personally really like making people. I think it's a superpower, if you can do it.'
Things haven't always been easy for the couple as they have welcomed two babies, had three miscarriages and juggled Bobby's move to the UK from Canada.
Katherine and Bobby first dated when she was 15, before rekindling their romance in 2018 when she returned to Canada to film a BBC show.
Adjusting to co-parenting with Bobby has taken some time for Katherine, who had previously raised her daughter Violet alone after becoming a single mother at 25.
However, she has been keen to add to their growing brood. Opening up on her concerns, she told OK! Magazine last year: "I'm old. I used to think I was going to be the babies' dad because I'm working but actually I'm like their grandmother.
"My back hurts, sometimes I give them treats. I'm like a fun grandma."
Speaking about their fertility, Katherine added: "We've always gotten pregnant with the babies quite quickly. I've been pregnant five times in five years, but that also means I've had three miscarriages in five years and the likelihood of that increases as you get older.
"You have to find a balance between what you can personally stand and risks you're willing to take." Katherine has made it clear that surrogacy isn't for her.
"It's controversial to say but I wouldn't want that labour – both literal and also the workload – to fall on another woman," she said. "I think surrogacy is wonderful. It's beautiful for people who are really eager to offer it and for couples who need it but for me, I think it would be exploitative.'
Katherine also spoke about how having children with Bobby has been different to when she was a single parent. "Now Bobby has come into the picture, the babies are here and everyone is well supported because we're a family unit," she explained.
'I think arguably it's better for the children to have siblings and a dad at home, but Violet and I were really happy and I like to intensely love one thing or one person."

Beyonce suffers wardrobe malfunction as trousers drop mid-performance in London
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Beyoncé's performances at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium kicked off tonight, as the star smoothly handled a rather embarrassing wardrobe malfunction. The Grammy Award-winning musician kicked off the first of her six shows at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on June 5. The dates are her first UK shows since her Renaissance World Tour in 2023 so have been hotly anticipated by fans – but things took a slight turn during one performance. The icon was performing on stage in a gold jumpsuit, flanked on either side by backup dancers. A kick and hand dance movement caused a little bit of a problem as the singer's trousers suddenly fell to the floor. Ever the professional, Bey was unfazed as she continued to perform with her trousers around her ankles, and a dancer quickly ran over to rectify the situation. After tonight, Beyoncé will go on to perform on June 7, 10, 12, 14, and 16, following a string of dates across America, where she will perform tracks from her eighth studio album. While the stadium opened its doors to 62,000 fans, some are worried about the rainy conditions ahead of the gig. In the lead-up fans were metaphorically and literally preparing to dance in the rain, with many camping out in preparation. A TikTok posted by user Paolatravell shows countless fans in tents around the venue as early as 4am this morning. The show is set to go ahead regardless of the weather, something one American fan claimed is actually lucky. Fan Madeline DeFreece, who managed to not only survive the rain, but claimed it added to the show, told Metro: 'This show was meant to be performed in the rain. The way the fabric moved on the contemporary dancers — I could not imagine it any differently.' She continued: 'At one point the cowboys had a Magic Mike moment, thrusting the floor of the stage and immediately I turned to my friend and said, 'We are so privileged to be in such a time and place.' I mean it was hot and provocative in a way that I don't think Beyoncé nor her team planned for.' More Trending Madeline also added: 'I'd pay to see it again, I'd pay even more to see it again in the rain.' During her first appearance on opening night at the Los Angeles SoFi Stadium, the tot walked on in a gold dress with Beyoncé, who wore glittering gold and green plaid chaps and bodysuit, and her sister during the song, Protector. It's unclear if Rumi will be taking to the stage tonight, but rest assured the event will still be a family affair with Blue Ivy putting in a shift as a dancer. Got a story? Widow's tribute to ‘talented and kind' Dundee architect husband Bobby Black MBE
A Dundee widow has paid tribute to her 'talented and happy' architect husband Bobby Black MBE following his death. Robert (Bobby) Black passed away peacefully at home in the care of his wife Moyra and close family on May 21, aged 89. Bobby, who was a senior partner with Baxter Clark and Paul, originally hailed from Arbroath before moving to Broughty Ferry in the early 1960s. Throughout his career, he worked on numerous prestigious projects, both locally and across Scotland. Also, in 1977, he was awarded the honour of MBE in recognition of his outstanding contributions and dedication to architecture. Moyra, who was married to Bobby for 65 years, has shared memories of her late husband. She said: 'Bobby was a quiet man. A kind man. A talented and happy man. Not one to brag. 'Just a good soul who was deeply loved and will be terribly missed.' Bobby was born in Arbroath on November 1 1935. He went to school there, and it was as a pupil at senior school that he met and got to know Moyra. Their relationship later developed through dancing. Moyra's father's band used to play at the Marine Ballroom in Arbroath where they had some 'wonderful times'. After school, Bobby went into architecture. He started working at the council architects' office in Arbroath and trained part-time while working as an apprentice. Indeed, architecture was always his path. He had a very creative and artistic mind. He also loved to paint – mostly landscapes and seascapes. Eventually, he became a senior partner at Baxter Clark and Paul. Before that, he spent some time in Belfast, working for a housing trust. 'We were courting by then,' recalled Moyra. 'A few of the lads from college went to Belfast together to work for the town's architects' department.' Moyra and Bobby married in 1959 at Knox's Church in Arbroath. The first of their four children followed. Then they moved to Broughty Ferry in 1962. 'Bobby was always known as a quiet, gentle man,' said Moyra. 'He was very artistic and had a good sense of humour. He even had a few party pieces, and a nice singing voice. 'Bobby wasn't a show-off, quite the opposite. Just a very kind, easy man to live with.' Moyra recalled that Bobby was very proud of the MBE he received in 1977 for services to architecture. 'We went to Buckingham Palace – quite an occasion in those days – and the Queen presented it,' said Moyra. 'I remember standing outside. It was a day we never forgot.' In terms of his architectural work, Bobby did quite a bit in Orkney and the north of Scotland. He was always very careful that his designs were in keeping with the traditional buildings of the area. The couple spent a lot of their retirement in Lanzarote, where they have a small property. They'd go out there for six weeks at a time – later in the year and again in the spring. They made many lovely friends out there over the years. Bobby also enjoyed painting and golf, although he wasn't too serious about the latter. 'I was the one who won the competitions!' laughed Moyra. They became members at Drumoig in north Fife when it opened, and later at Kingennie. Moyra said her husband stayed relatively well until the end. He had a pacemaker fitted about 10 and a half years ago, and later a heart valve replacement. Things went downhill after that. 'He had good health for most of his life, and for that we're grateful,' she said. Moyra said the couple enjoyed celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary last December. They were together for five and a half years before that, so it really was a 'lifetime', Moyra added. The family wish to express their gratitude to district nurses and carers for their care and compassion, and to Bobby's friends for their kind thoughts and condolences. Bobby will be sorely missed as a loving husband, father, grandad, great-grandad, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. He is survived by his wife Moyra, four children Margot, Kevin, Loraine and Andrea, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Katy Perry nearly plunges headfirst into crowd in terrifying stage blunder
Things almost went very wrong for Katy Perry during the latest show of her Lifetimes World Tour. The I Kissed A Girl hitmaker is currently travelling the globe, playing to thousands of fans with her most recent album. It's safe to say the performances have caused quite a stir online, whether it be wardrobe malfunctions or the internet roasting her for 'cringey' dancing. However, when Katy performed in Sydney, Australia, this week, she suffered a whole new level of mishap. During the set, the 40-year-old US star wows the crowd with an aerial spectacle. Allowing fans to get closer to her than ever before, she soars over the pit, suspended by a crane while singing. Mid-song at Qudos Arena, though, it seems the crane tilted unexpectedly, leaving Katy upside down for a second. At risk of plunging headfirst into the sea of people, she was heard exclaiming, 'Oh dear!' during the terrifying incident. Ever the pro, Katy regained composure and soldiered on with the song. She flashed a wave to the arena, reassuring everyone that no harm had been done. But as Katy knows all too well, social media is a beast, meaning it didn't take long for footage to circulate. Shared on TikTok, one clip captured the heart-stopping moment and can be heard gasping and laughing as the chaos unfolded. 'Oh my god!', @_lilymay1_ is heard saying in the video that has since gone viral. In the comments, fans were in stitches over the carnage of Katy's recent shows, with @zakonite writing: 'this is the funniest tour in existence 😭😭' 'Don't worry everyone she's a professional astronaut. She planned this. It's fine', joked @tiffany_l3ann3, referring to Katy's recent historic trip to space. 'honestly i love that this tour is just her having a fun time', said @ 'This is way funnier than it should be', added @ngcook15. Katy has made plenty of headlines throughout her tour already, one of the latest being when she singled out a man in the Las Vegas crowd. While introducing the song I'm His, He's Mine, she called out the fan for sending messages to her partner, Orlando Bloom, 48, to whom she's been engaged since 2019 and shares daughter Daisy Dove, four, with. 'Cute grin. I know why you're here,' she began. 'Listen, if you keep DM'ing my man… Oh, Kyle? I know, I know. You've been doing it for months, ever since the [Play] residency. 'You didn't come to see me play. 'If you keep on DMing my man, I'm going to have you removed. Seriously, get your own life.' Don't worry, it was all a joke, with the fan, Kyle, later revealing to Lad Bible that it was part of a segue for her next song. 'This all started because I asked Katy to sing my favourite deep cut and may have had to call in Orlando for some assistance,' he explained. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video 'Now I have the concert memory of a lifetime.' Amid her eventful tour, Katy recently opened up about feeling like 'the most hated person on the internet'. More Trending 'Well, I thought I was the most hated person on the internet,' she began to the crowd in Chicago. 'I think that's false,' she then exclaimed as everyone cheered loudly in the sold-out venue, proving her popularity. The Teenage Dream songstress is currently playing 15 shows Down Under in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth. She originally had just one date booked for each city, but due to epic demand, she added extra shows. Katy is set to bring her Lifetimes Tour to the UK later this year, playing concerts in Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham, and London in October. Got a story?
