Mel C breaks her silence on the Spice Girls reunion tour as she reveals one member 'needs more convincing' to take part

Daily Mail03-05-2025

Mel C has broken her silence on the upcoming Spice Girls reunion tour, revealing that one member still 'needs more convincing' to take to the stage.
It was revealed earlier this week that the iconic girl group would be reuniting for a possible world tour to celebrate 30 years since the release of the debut single Wannabe.
It has already been said that Posh Spice, aka Victoria Beckham, is '90 per cent out of the running', with the fashion designer, 51, having not joined the girls on stage since the London 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony.
But in a new interview, Mel C, 51, shared her excitement about the tour and let slip that one other member seemingly wasn't as enthusiastic about picking up the mic again and needed further persuasion.
Speaking on the No Filter with Kate Langbroek podcast, Sporty Spice shared: 'Next year is a big year for us and we have to acknowledge it in some way.
'So we are talking about what that's going to look like and for me, Melanie, I know for sure, and Emma [Bunton], we'd be back on stage. But sometimes other people need a little bit more convincing.'
Amid her revelation that it was Geri Halliwell-Horner that needed convincing, this further adds to recent reports that Ginger Spice is set to meet with Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller in Miami this weekend to discuss the plans.
The singer, 52, recently remained coy about a possible reunion, saying in an interview last month: 'I love the Spice Girls as a whole movement, the tribe of us, and the individual members.'
It was thought that the scandal scandal engulfing her husband Christian Horner, who accused of misconduct by a team employee, put Geri off taking part.
But with Geri's Red Bull F1 boss Christian gearing up for the latest race in the calendar and with Simon reportedly a racing fan with an invite from Red Bull to attend, it would be the perfect opportunity for the two to chat.
Meanwhile, discussing the prospect of all five girls being on stage together for the first time since 2012, Mel added: 'It would be the best thing ever, ever, ever. And sometimes it feels like a duty to the world.
'When we did the shows in 2019, it brought so much joy to so many people. Not everybody likes the Spice Girls but loads of people do.
'We're living in this weird world right now. There's so much negativity and mad s**t going on. Let's all spice up our lives.'
Meanwhile, Mel B joked that any important details regarding the tour won't be shared with Mel B as 'she can't keep her mouth shut.'

She quipped: 'We've decided now we're not going to tell Mel anything because she can't keep her mouth shut.
'So don't listen to Mel B because she doesn't know, because we're not telling her.'
Since they officially broke up they there have been various rumours that they would reunite - with Mel B recently sharing her enthusiasm again for another tour.
Mel C previously hinted that the band could do something special next year to mark the 30-year anniversary of their debut album, Spice.
The girl group last toured together in 2020 as a foursome, with only Victoria missing out.
While the last time Emma, Mel B, Mel C, Victoria and Geri all performed as a five was during the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics.
Speaking to Rebecca Judd On Apple Music 1 in March, Mel C teased: 'There has to be something befitting of 30 years since Wannabe.
'Once a Spice Girl, always a Spice Girl.
'We all feel like that, but we now are getting together because we know if we're going to do anything, we have to start planning things to get things right.
'We have to start making the plans right now and putting them into action. So fingers crossed.'
However, she admitted it might be up to her and Mel B to get things moving, saying: 'I think me and Mel B are probably going to be going in there all guns blazing, 'Come on! It's time!''

Inside Schumacher's inner circle as F1 boss reveals who ‘regularly' sees tragic star… & his shock at pal who WON'T visit

When Schumacher's head hit a boulder in the skiing accident 12 years ago, it split his helmet in two SCHUEY'S CIRCLE Inside Schumacher's inner circle as F1 boss reveals who 'regularly' sees tragic star… & his shock at pal who WON'T visit AN F1 boss has revealed insider information on Michael Schumacher's inner circle - like who "regularly" visits him and his shock at one pal who won't. Schumacher hasn't been in the public eye since a devastating skiing accident 12 years ago and is cared for by medical staff and his wife Corinna at their home in Lake Geneva. Now ex-Red Bull chief Richard Hopkins has spoken out about the star - and revealed who regularly him. He told "Jean Todt, that's well known. Jean and Michael had an extraordinarily close relationship. "I believe Luca Badoer, who is a close family friend, visits him. Advertisement "If there is a third, I don't know who that would be." But Hopkins also spoke of a pal who won't visit Schumacher - Flavio Briatore. He added: "Flavio is, as we know, a flamboyant character. I would have thought he would have probably been the first person who would have wanted to see Michael in whatever way that was. But you have to respect that decision. "That's down to the individual. Not necessarily shared by all. I know there are close friends that go and see Schumacher and that's their own choice and for their own reasons. Advertisement "But Flavio has obviously got his and it's very deep and personal how we remember people, and how we want to remember people. "I think we all have to respect that one." Michael Schumacher's Monaco Grand Prix-Winning Ferrari F2001 In 2020 Briatore's former wife Elisabetta Gregoraci claimed that: 'Michael doesn't speak, he communicates with his eyes.' Addressing this rumour, Hopkins said: "I'm not in that circle to know the absolute facts about Schumacher. Not many people are. Does he communicate through his eyes? Quite possibly. Advertisement "There is rumour he does watch Grand Prixs. But this is just speculation and perhaps unfair for anyone to make assumptions and guesses. "Any remark I make will be unqualified as well in that sense, so it's difficult to be drawn on it." In April, Schumacher signed a charity helmet belonging to fellow F1 icon Sir Jackie Stewart with help from Corinna. The helmet will be auctioned to raise money for Stewart's charity Race Against Dementia. Advertisement But Hopkins has described the signing as potentially being a "one-off". He said: "I suspect that [Jackie Stewart helmet signature] gesture was a one-off. There was a lot of media around that and maybe for the family too much media. 7 Michael Schumacher and Flavio Briatore Credit: Getty - Contributor 7 Alpine F1 Team Executive Advisor Flavio Briatore looks on in the paddock during qualifying Credit: Getty Advertisement 7 Race winner Michael Schumacher celebrates on the podium in 1994 Credit: Alamy "They try to keep everything quiet and private, so I'd hazard a guess that it was a one-off. "It was a great gesture from the family to organise that." Yilmaz Tozturkan, 53, and his son Daniel Lins, 30, had threatened to publish videos and pictures of Schumacher unless they were given £12million. Advertisement Security guard Markus Fritsche had copied the private material while working for the Schumachers and sold it to the two men. In February the trio were found guilty of their part in the blackmail plot. Fritsche was given a two-year suspended sentence, while Tozturkan was jailed for three years and Lins was given a six-month suspended prison sentence by a German court. Schumacher's wife Corinna wanted a harsher sentence for Fritsche. Advertisement She said: 'What still shocks me most is the massive breach of trust. 'He should receive a punishment for this that deters others from potentially doing the same.' When Schumacher's head hit a boulder in the skiing accident 12 years ago, it split his helmet in two. The brain injury was so serious that he spent 250 days in a coma. Advertisement The best medical treatment that money could buy brought the sporting great, who is worth £468million, back to consciousness. There had been rumours that further treatment in Paris had allowed Schumacher to take some small steps, but that was later dismissed.

Mel C flaunts her sizzling six-pack as she shares slew of snaps from recent trip Down Under - including a loved-up display with new boyfriend Chris Dingwall

Mel C flaunted her rock hard abs in a slew of snaps on Instagram on Thursday while reflecting on her recent trip Down Under. Sporty Spice, 50, jetted off to Australia in March with her boyfriend Chris Dingwall ahead of the Australian Grand Prix - where she was booked to play a DJ set. But after returning back to the UK in preparation for festival season, Mel is seemingly suffering with holiday blues as she gave fans an insight into her getaway. Captioning the post: 'Missing life down under,' the first photo shared by the pop star showed her indulging in some seaside yoga while showing off her impressive physique. Donning a pair of shorts and a dark blue sports bra, Mel flaunted her sizzling six-pack while stretching her arms towards the sky for the snap. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Her abs were again on show in an later photo, with Sporty Spice unsurprisingly enjoying a visit to the gym in a matching shorts and bra combo. It wasn't all sports and yoga for Mel Down Under however, with the slew revealing that she had taken in a Dua Lipa performance during her trip away. And the 50-year-old seemed to be having a whale of a time watching the British superstar's Radical Optimism tour, with Mel filmed dancing the night away in the crowd. In another video, Mel revealed exactly how she manages to wear stilettos for an entire day - by taping her toes together. The footage showed a man - presumably her stylist - prepping the Spice Girl to slip into a pair of heels while explaining exactly how the method works. 'The science says that by taping toe two and three together, it will redistribute the pressure on the foot meaning Melanie can do a full day in the world's most heeled high heels,' he said. '(Our inspiration is) Vanessa Williams while performing in The Devil Wears Prada, she told the world that this was the secret to getting through a full day in stilettos, and let's see if she's a liar.' Mel also put on a loved-up display with her film director boyfriend Chris, who is believed to be in his 40s, in a selfie shared to her Instagram on Thursday. While it remains unclear how the couple met, they confirmed romance rumours last June when they attended Glastonbury together. Chris - who stands at around 185cm tall - is a model who has also tried his hand at acting, writing and film directing. During their time together in Australia, the couple were pictured sharing a cheeky kiss while enjoying a day on the beach. Since going public with their romance, Mel and Chris have also enjoyed a summer break in Ibiza together. They were seen sharing a steamy kiss during a PDA-filled boat ride on the island. In July, Mel also cosied up to her new partner as they enjoyed a day out at Wimbledon in south west London. The singer keeps her love life largely out of the spotlight but previously spoke about how she was banned from dating in the early days of the Spice Girls - while her bandmates were free to pursue romances. 'Looking back what struck me was it was one rule for one and another for the others, right?' she previously told Australia's The Project. 'I think when you are vulnerable as well, people go, I don't think it's good for you'. Mel said the rule for the other women was, 'she is fine, she can have a boyfriend, she can cope with having a boyfriend, she is strong enough but you are not'. 'It makes you question yourself when you are already vulnerable,' Mel added. On Thursday, it was reported that Simon Fuller – the man who managed the band, created Brand Beckham and helped found Victoria Beckham's fashion empire – is keen to organise a tour to mark the group's 30th anniversary next year. He has the support of Mel C, Mel B and Emma Bunton, and has spent more than a year trying to win Geri Halliwell-Horner round to the idea. A source told The Mail's Alison Boshoff: 'Geri isn't interested in stepping foot on a stage again.' So the plan she agreed to was for Abba-style avatars of the girls, which would 'perform' in concert. But Victoria is being left out of discussions and will not be part of the virtual line-up. A source said: 'Simon Fuller planning a tour has caused yet another schism. Victoria is f****d off that they have gone with him and there is no way that she will be a part of it. 'The bad feeling seems to go back to her and David having to spend millions on buying him out of Beckham Brand Holdings. He still has a stake and board seat on her fashion business. There is resentment there. 'Geri wants to do the avatars idea. She isn't interested in coming back and doing a tour. She doesn't need to. This is the one idea which Simon has had which has tempted her.' The source added: 'Simon Fuller is the only person who could get Geri to rejoin the Spice Girls, but he is the one person in the world who could never persuade Victoria.' No wonder only Mel C and Emma Bunton went to Mel B's 50th birthday celebrations in Leeds last weekend. All of the 'girls' showed up for Victoria's 50th birthday last year, but it seems that they are in separate camps once again. In fact, there has not yet been a meeting to discuss plans with Geri and the other Spice Girls in the same room because 'at any given point

Victoria Beckham steps out as it's announced her husband David is set to receive a knighthood

Victoria Beckham stepped out in West London on Thursday as it was announced her husband David is set to receive a knighthood. The former Spice Girl, 50, looked effortlessly chic in black workout gear and a pair of stylish shades as she emerged from her £100K Porsche. The news of David's knighthood in the King's Birthday Honour's List comes after years of being snubbed for the honour. Now footage from the couple's 2003 ITV documentary The Real Beckhams has resurfaced, revealing Victoria had her sights on a title of her own long before the honours list caught up with her husband. Filmed on the morning of David's OBE investiture at Buckingham Palace, the scene shows the couple in a London hotel room preparing for the big day. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'David's nan and grandad are very excited. It's going to be a really nice day, and we're going to have lunch afterwards,' Victoria explains, before turning to the football legend and adding: 'I can't believe you're going to be David Beckham OBE.' David replied, 'I'm going to make you call me it,' to which Victoria responds with a grin, 'When you become a Sir and I'm a Lady, I'll make everyone call me it. Everyone! Even you.' Laughing awkwardly, David said: 'We'll see.' It was, at the time, a light-hearted exchange, but with David finally due to be knighted more than two decades later, her playful banter now feels incredibly prescient. The former Manchester United and England star, 50, is to be awarded a knighthood in the King's Birthday Honours List. He will be confirmed as a 'Sir' when the list is released next week, according to The Sun, meaning Victoria will officially be known as Lady Beckham. In the resurfaced footage of their preparation for his OBE investiture, their sons - and only children at the time - Romeo, then 14 months, and Brooklyn, then four, also appear. A lively Brooklyn flits through the scene, hugging his dad as he returns from the ceremony. The tender father-son moment that day feels especially poignant now, given the rift between Brooklyn and the family. The news of David's knighthood in the King's Birthday Honour's List comes after years of being snubbed for the honour - the doc was filmed on the morning of David's OBE investiture at Buckingham Palace, the scene shows the couple in a London hotel room preparing for the big day Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz Beckham remain estranged from the wider family, meaning it's unlikely they will be joining them in celebrating David's knighthood next week. Victoria and David also share son Cruz, 20, and daughter Harper, 13. At another point in the video, Victoria jokes to David about his OBE, which was awarded by the late Queen for his services to football: 'Damn, I can't believe you beat me to it.' The pop star turned fashion designer is yet to receive a royal honour and following the investiture, she also admits to having a new-found appreciation for the royals. 'I like the fact that we have a Royal Family - it's lovely - but I was looking at the Queen today and I'm thinking, she's standing there for an hour and a half, giving out these awards... she probably does this every day. She travels around, she does a job at the end of the day, and she's still really polite. She made every single person there today feel special.' She adds: 'She spoke to everybody! Some guy got a medal for services to the Inland Revenue. I mean, who the hell would want to talk to him? But she did! That was so nice. 'We had a little bit of a nosy round [the Palace]. It wasn't quite as stylish as Beckingham Palace, not quite as modern.' Beckingham Palace was the nickname given to their lavish £2.5million home in Hertfordshire, which David and Victoria purchased shortly after their 1999 wedding. David, an avid royalist since he was a schoolboy in Chingford, has long craved for a knighthood and it appeared to be within his grasp having received an OBE from the late Queen in 2003 The Grade II-listed mansion, set in 24 acres and featuring a maze, recording studio and football pitch, became a symbol of their early-2000s celebrity status. They sold the property in 2014 to focus on homes abroad and a more private lifestyle. Later on in the fly-on-the-wall documentary, David reflects: 'I felt really proud today. Proud to be English,' adding that the Queen told him it was a great honour to be giving him the medal. 'She asked me if it's tiring travelling back and forward playing football. I said no.' Referring to his 2003 autobiography My Side, he continues: 'She didn't ask for an autograph... She'd read my book though.' The tattooed ex-England captain last month chatted with King Charles at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in London, with their bond reportedly growing close in recent years through their shared love of gardening. David, an avid royalist since he was a schoolboy in Chingford, has long craved for a knighthood and it appeared to be within his grasp having received an OBE from the late Queen in 2003. While his appointment as an ambassador to HM's charity the King's Foundation was deemed an encouraging sign earlier last year, but his complicated tax affairs had once been viewed as a possible barrier. And in February 2017, there was a slew of leaked emails showing the former footballer had appeared to unleash a barrage of expletives criticising the honours committee that had once again left him off the list for a coveted gong. There was also an alleged 2013 leaked email, when, bitter not to be knighted, he complained about Katherine Jenkins, fuming 'Katherine Jenkins OBE for what? Singing at the rugby and going to see the troops. Plus taking coke. F****** joke.'
