Romualdez matapos ilagay sa ‘baul' ng Senado ang impeachment complaint vs VP Sara: ‘Tuloy ang laban'
Nitong Huwebes, sinabi ni Romualdez na ginawa lang ng mga kongresista ang kanilang tungkulin na papanagutin ang mga opisyal na nang-aabuso umano sa kapangyarihan. Kabilang sa inaakusa laban kay Duterte ay ang mali umano nitong paggamit ng pondo, partikular sa usapin ng confidential funds, na itinatanggi ng pangalawang pangulo.
Hindi rin umano minadali ng mga kongresista ang paghahanda sa kaso. Sa halip, ang Senado umano ang nagmadali na ilibing ito.
'Let's be clear: The filing of the complaint was not rushed. What was rushed—remarkably—was its burial,' ani Romualdez.

'Why the rush? [to archive]? The Constitution is clear: only the House has the exclusive power to initiate impeachment. That power is final within its sphere. We exercised that power lawfully, transparently, and in good faith—not out of spite but out of duty. Not to attack but to ask for answers—answers the Vice President never gave,' tanong ni Romualdez.
'To archive is, in effect, to bury the Articles of Impeachment. Yet, the ruling of the Supreme Court is not final. On August 5, the House filed a Motion for Reconsideration. The Court found our arguments serious enough to require the respondents, including the Vice President, to submit their comment. The case is active,' dagdag ng Speaker.

'More than one-third of House Members signed the verified complaint. Under the Constitution, that triggered the automatic transmittal of the Articles of Impeachment. No referral to the committee was needed. No further plenary action was required. The process was complete,' pahayag ni Romualdez.
Nitong Miyerkules, sinabi ni Senate President Francis 'Chiz' Escudero na hindi dapat gamitin ng Kamara ang Senado bilang 'playground to run after your political enemies.'
'To the House of Representatives I say, do not allow yourselves to be used for the blind hatred and ambition of a few who did things haphazardly, gravely abused their discretion, and violated due process, rights under the Constitution as found by the High Court itself,' ani Escudero.
"To these people, I say this: the Senate is not your playground to run after your political enemies. We are not an accomplice in any grand scheme,' dagdag niya.
Pero ayon kay Romualdez, hindi 'political maneuvering" ang dahilan ng pagsasampa nila ng reklamo laban kay Duterte.
"It was about accountability anchored on verified facts and sworn documents. Yet we have been met with personal attacks, sweeping accusations, and a narrative that seeks to reduce a solemn constitutional duty into mere power play. That's not just unfair—it is dangerous. It undermines public trust in the very tools of democratic checks and balances,' pahayag niya.

House vows to abide by SC ruling on MR for Sara's impeachment
The House of Representatives will abide by the Supreme Court's decision should it rule against its motion for reconsideration (MR) on its decision to declare the Articles of Impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte as unconstitutional. 'Hindi 'ho namin susuwayin 'yan, susundin namin 'yan. The House will not cause the constitutional crisis. In its appeal before the high tribunal, the House argued that the fourth impeachment complaint, signed off by 215 House members, is the only initiated impeachment case against the Vice President because it met the Constitutional requirement of the complaint being endorsed by at least one-third of the House members, which allowed the House to transmit the Articles of Impeachment straight to the Senate en route to the impeachment trial, bypassing Committee deliberations. Whistleblower could unveil link between missing sabungeros and drug war —solon
The whistleblower who recently surfaced could shed light on the link between the missing sabungeros' case and the Duterte administration's drug war, Bicol Saro party-list Representative Terry Ridon said. Ridon said this following the revival of the House Quad Committee (QuadComm), the mega panel composed of four committees that investigated the extrajudicial killings during the controversial anti-drug campaign. Under the adopted House Resolution 106, the QuadComm is tasked 'to conduct a joint inquiry in need of legislation to address emerging and unresolved issues brought forth by the joint investigation of the previous Quad Committee during the 19th Congress.' "We want to focus on the missing sabungeros and their intersectionality with the Duterte drug war because there were allegations that the kill team for the missing sabungeros is the same for the Duterte drug war," said Ridon, head of the committee on public accounts, one of the panels in the QuadComm. Whistleblower and co-accused Julie 'Dondon' Patidongan surfaced last month and claimed that the missing sabungeros were buried in Taal Lake. A total of 34 cockfighting enthusiasts have been reported missing from 2021 to 2022. According to the police, the missing personalities were kidnapped allegedly due to match fixing or cheating in the cockfighting games. "We would like to be able to talk to the whistleblower during the proceedings. Is this kill team true?' Ridon said. 'I'm sure the mechanics then were different, but if it's the same kill team, I think it's very concerning,' he added. Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla earlier said some people who have been involved in the "death squads" that figured in the drug war under the Duterte administration may also be involved in the deaths related to the e-sabong or online cockfights during the pandemic. (Photo from the FB post of Koalisyong Makabayan) The progressive Koalisyong Makabayan on Friday filed a joint motion for reconsideration (MR) calling on the Supreme Court (SC) to reverse its decision junking the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte. According to Manny Vargas' report over Super Radyo dzBB, the petitioners also filed a separate motion to intervene as they urged the SC to overturn its initial decision that declared the articles of impeachment against Duterte unsconstitutional. They also appealed for the Court to rule that House lawmakers did not commit grave abuse of discretion and that the filing of the articles of impeachment was not covered by the one-year ban on impeachment. Among the petitioners were ACT-Partylist Rep. Antonio Tinio, Kabataan Partylist Rep. Renee Co, Makabayan president Liza Masa, and BAYAN president Renato Reyes. The Senate on Wednesday voted to archive the impeachment case against Duterte following the SC decision. The Court earlier declared the articles of impeachment against the Vice President unconstitutional, stressing that it was barred by the one-year rule under the Constitution and that it violated her right to due process. It also said the Senate did not acquire jurisdiction over the impeachment proceedings because the articles of impeachment were void. The SC said it was not absolving Duterte of any of the charges against her and that any subsequent impeachment complaint may be filed starting February 6, 2026. The House then filed a motion for reconsideration, seeking to reverse the SC decision. The lower chamber argued it should be allowed to perform its exclusive duty to prosecute an impeachable official, and the Senate's to try the case.
