Latest Firmware For RØDE's Wireless Micro Brings Direct Connection With iPhones
Exciting news released from RØDE, the Australia-based audio brand that dominates the video microphone market. Today, the company has announced a major firmware update for its award-winning Wireless Microproduct.
Wireless Micro is RØDE's entry-level wireless lavalier mics designed for iPhones and Android devices. The kit consists of two wireless lavalier mics and a receiver unit, which is available for iOS or USB-C connections.
The new feature announced today is called Direct Connect and it enables users to connect their Wireless Micro transmitters directly to an iOS device using the RØDE Capture app without the need to plug in the product's physical receiver unit.
Available via the RØDE Capture app, Direct Connect can pair Wireless Micro transmitters directly with an iPhone via Bluetooth. This eliminates the need for additional hardware or accessories. A similar function is offered with Shure's MoveMicro system, which also connects directly to an iPhone via Bluetooth when using Shure's MOTIV app.
'With Direct Connect, we're making content creation more seamless than ever,' says Damien Wilson, CEO of RØDE. 'It's a direct response to what our users have been asking for – true wireless freedom, less hardware, and complete control from their phone. We're thrilled to bring this feature to the Wireless Micro as we continue leading the way in compact, professional audio solutions.'
In addition to Direct Connect, the update also has several new and powerful enhancements within the RØDE Capture companion app. There is a brand-new noise reduction feature that helps deliver even cleaner audio by minimizing background noise when recording in dynamic or uncontrolled environments. This setting can be toggled independently for each transmitter, giving users more control over their sound.
With the firmware update, it's now possible to record sound in merged or split modes. In merged mode, the audio from both transmitters is combined into a single, ready-to-publish stereo track. Meanwhile, in split mode, each transmitter is recorded to a separate channel, offering greater flexibility for adjusting levels in post-production. Finally, there's also a new output gain control that lets users adjust recording levels directly within the app, ensuring balanced audio.
The release of Direct Connect follows the Wireless Micro's recent win as Best Microphone in Rolling Stone's 2025 Audio Awards. Praised for its compact form factor, intuitive design, and professional sound quality, the Wireless Micro was recognized as RØDE's most accessible wireless solution to date.
RØDE's Wireless Micro is available in black or white and in both USB-C and Lightning configurations. It includes a pocket-sized charging case offering up to 21 hours of battery life and is compatible with a wide range of devices, now including wireless iOS pairing via Direct Connect.
RØDE's Wireless Micro ships worldwide and is available to purchase for $149 from RØDE and other retailers. Direct Connect is available now on the RØDE Capture app once the user has applied the updated firmware using the transmitter unit.

Skullcandy just launched its most advanced headphones to date
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Skullcandy has relaunched its Aviator headphone series after a 15-year hiatus The new Aviator 900 ANC is its new flagship offering at $300 / £250. While not quite the brand's priciest headphones to date, they're being touted as the most premium and advanced, and are priciest in the current line-up. While the original Aviator line made its debut in 2010, this revival attempts to blend the series' distinctive retro aesthetic with updated audio tech. This includes THX Spatial Audio with head tracking – a Skullcandy first – which promises a more immersive listening experience. Users will also be able to create a customised sound profile powered by Mimi – the same tech found in products from other brands, including Focal, Philips, and Nothing. Beyond tailoring the sound, it will also reportedly restore detail, while letting you enjoy music at lower volumes. As for noise cancellation, the Aviator 900 feature six microphones to help block out the outside world, while battery life can reach up to 60 hours with ANC turned off. This drops to around 50 hours with it turned on, while a 10-minute quick charge provides four hours' worth of juice. For context, this is pretty respectable, though it doesn't quite match the likes of the never-ending Cambridge Audio Melomania P100, which lasts up to 100 hours without ANC, and 50 hours with it turned on. Still, Skullcandy's latest cans trounce more expensive handsets like the £400 five-star Sony WH-1000XM6 in terms of battery life, with Sony's offering only managing 30 hours with ANC on. The audio and ANC performance though, is likely a different story. This is all, of course, without mentioning the design. It won't be to everyone's tastes, but we rather like the organic curves, coiled wires, and suede materials. Physical controls like a knurled thumbwheel are a bonus too, and there's even a tiny multi-function LCD display with suitable retro orange digits for (presumably) displaying information like the current volume level. They fold flat as well, which is a bonus for compact travellers. Connectivity includes Bluetooth 5.3 with LE Audio support, multipoint pairing for simultaneous device connections, and Google Fast Pair integration. The accompanying Skullcandy app also provides customisation options, including five-band EQ adjustment, button remapping, and adjustable transparency modes. You'll notice we haven't mentioned anything about the audio hardware – the press release is notably devoid of any actual physical specs like driver type, size, frequency response and the like, so we'll naturally have to reserve all judgement until we get to take them for a spin. The Aviator 900 ANC are available now via Skullcandy's website and selected retailers globally for $300 / £250 (Australian pricing and availability have yet to be confirmed). Whether or not it's worth forking out that much when excellent alternatives like the far cheaper Sony WH-CH720N exist, remains to be seen. The fact that you can also get the proven Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless for £199 in the UK at the time of writing is also tempting. Still, we're looking forward to seeing how Skullcandy shapes up against the competition. Watch this space. Bianca Censori Makes Bold Business Move Away From Husband Kanye West After Multiple Racy Outings
Bianca Censori has quietly launched her self-named business brand in an apparent bid to kickstart a new phase for herself amid her marriage to Kanye West. This follows a report that the Australian-born architect demanded "independence" from her husband, after he allegedly stopped her from accepting numerous multimillion-dollar offers from fashion houses. Bianca Censori has now become known for her provocative outfits, mainly in the company of Kanye West, and her latest move implies she is ready to step out of his shadow. Censori appears to be embarking on a new career path, having quietly launched her first U.S. company, Bianca Censori Inc. She previously worked for her husband, West, as an architect for his Yeezy brand, but hasn't been in the profession for the last few years. Instead, she has traveled the world with him, often causing unease in her barely there outfits and sultry ensembles. According to The U.S. Sun, Censori registered the company last month with the state of California and also registered her full name, Bianca Censori, as an Australian firm situated in Alphington, a high-scale Melbourne suburb where her parents currently live. She is listed as CEO and secretary. Although the exact nature of her business wasn't revealed, Censori's entrepreneurial venture could be in the Beauty and Cosmetic niche, as the chief financial officer is listed as Hussein Lalani, who specializes in selling cosmetic treatments. Lalani founded the company Zensa, which sells beauty procedures such as a DIY Brazilian wax kit and microblading. According to the news outlet, Lalani's brand also offers "lidocaine numbing cream," which "is formulated for painful procedures like microneedling, waxing, microblading, injections, [and] tattooing." Censori and West are said to have met Lalani at the luxury West Hollywood condo where they lived last year in a $10,000-a-month two-bedroom apartment. Meanwhile, Censori still has her husband to deal with as the "Donda" rapper is listed as a director and the company is using the services of his lawyer, Manoj Shah. Censori and West were hit with divorce rumors after they pulled off a stunt that saw her strip almost naked on the Grammys red carpet. However, things seem to have gotten better following their month-long stay at a wellness center in Spain, where the "Carnival" rapper reportedly went through therapy. "They spent a month at this place called The Balance Clinic, which is basically a holistic therapy spa that has all sorts of things from massages to meditation to yoga to full-on therapy," a source told In Touch Weekly. "It was Bianca's ultimatum, either Ye went or the marriage was over. He begrudgingly agreed, but now he's saying it was a great idea, that she's a genius that saved their marriage," they added. The insider went on to explain that West has been making "big plans" in an attempt to save their marriage. However, sources close to the couple still believe their chances of lasting long-term are very low. "[Kanye's] making all these big plans to renew their vows, and he's back to talking about her having his babies," the source explained. "But it's hard to imagine all that much has changed long-term after a few weeks of getting help. No one is expecting this honeymoon period to last; his circle is all saying it will be back in train wreck territory before long." The source noted that Censori "is very close to her breaking point" in their marriage, adding, "She's giving him another chance, but it's hard to imagine she'll stick around the next time he goes off the rails, which is pretty well a matter of when, not if." Once again, Censori left fans stunned as she took to social media to share sultry photos of herself in a barely there outfit. The 30-year-old model left little to the imagination wearing sheer pantyhose and a see-through black fishnet top. Censori styled her dark hair in an edgy wolf cut and completed the look with oversized sunglasses. She posed with her hands behind her back and her legs spread apart as fans took to the comment section to note how provocative they found her post. It comes after she angered locals in Spain by parading around markets with her chest exposed, leaving onlookers "horrified."
