Last Updated:
The video begins with a foreign student introducing his Indian classmates by lip-syncing to Desi Boyz's opening line, 'Make some noise for the desi boys.'
Bollywood and its music have transcended borders. The industry's vibrant song and dance sequences have especially captivated audiences across the globe. In one such recent display of cultural fusion, a group of Indian boys from Oxford University took the internet by storm by showcasing their uber-cool dance moves on the Desi Boyz title track from the 2011 film. The romantic comedy featured Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone and Chitrangada Singh in crucial roles.
The video begins with a foreign student introducing his Indian classmates by lip-syncing to the track's opening line, 'Make some noise for the desi boys." Enter the 'desi" boys as they break into a power-packed performance. At first, they shake a leg to the foot-tapping number, wearing casual outfits. Soon, the youngsters switch to formal fits, donning a crisp white shirt, a pair of black trousers and a matching tie. Their energy is unmissable as they groove to the beats in the gardens, hallways, corridors and cobbled paths.
The clip was shot at some famous spots of the Oxford University campus, including Lady Margaret Hall. This fascinating blend of the University's historic charm with the Indian culture did not take time to reach the right audience, who were delighted to witness this enthusiastic choreography. The side note read, 'This incredible Bollywood dance video is filmed at Lady Margaret Hall and other iconic Oxford spots – created by alumnus Druv Punjabi and crew."
Here's how the internet reacted to the post.
A user admitted that, 'This was so much fun to watch." Sharing a similar sentiment, another quipped, 'Love everything about this." An individual chimed in, 'Wonderful!! Really loved it! Sooo entertaining!" 'Loved the desi boys in Oxford," commented one person.
'This is super incredible… Such a big achievement… The halls of Oxford University echo with Bollywood mashups," read a sweet remark. Another user revealed that she was 'waiting for the desi girl version."
'You give me dance, culture, smile, Oxford, for me you devoured," gushed someone else.
Previously, an Indian-origin student at the University of Washington Bothell delighted the crowd and social media with his dynamic bhangra performance on his graduation day.
The young man, Arijeet Singh, walked up to the stage and, before collecting his certificate, he tapped into his Punjabi spirit.
