Paritala Sunitha pays tributes to CRPF jawan Murali
The 65th Battalion jawan, a native of Shivapuram village in Kanaganapalli Mandal, was posted in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, and reportedly took his own life on Monday due to financial distress.
Upon the arrival of his mortal remains in his native village, MLA Paritala Sunitha, accompanied by CRPF officials, visited the family to offer her condolences. She placed the national flag over the jawan's body and rendered a ceremonial salute as a mark of respect.
Moved by the grief of the family, MLA Sunitha consoled the jawan's wife and relatives, assuring them that the government stands firmly by their side.
She immediately announced financial assistance of Rs 50,000, a house site patta, and a government-built house. She also promised a job opportunity for the jawan's sister and assured that all eligible government compensations would be provided soon.
'The untimely death of such a young jawan is deeply saddening. I pray that God gives strength to the grieving family,' Sunitha stated.
The matter was also brought to the attention of HRD Minister Nara Lokesh, who responded promptly and assured that the government would fully support the jawan's family. He extended his heartfelt condolences and promised every possible assistance.

NEW DELHI: A parliamentary panel on Monday criticised the government for not increasing the allocation under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), expressing concern that funding has remained static at Rs 86,000 crore since the revised estimates of 2023–24. In a report tabled in Parliament, the Department-Related Parliamentary Committee on Rural Development and Panchayati Raj stressed that the effective implementation of the scheme hinges on 'timely and adequate' funding. 'The Committee is concerned to note that the allocation has remained unchanged since the 2023–24 revised estimates,' the report stated. It added that given MGNREGS's role in providing employment to rural and marginalised communities, consistent funding is essential for uninterrupted implementation. The panel questioned the government's rationale behind the stagnation in allocations, particularly for a demand-driven scheme like MGNREGS. It reiterated its earlier recommendation to reassess funding needs and raise allocations at the revised estimate stage if necessary. In its response, the Department of Rural Development (DoRD) maintained that fund disbursal is a 'continuous and demand-driven process,' and assured that the Centre remains committed to ensuring timely fund availability in coordination with the Ministry of Finance. The committee, however, dismissed the reply as 'stereotypical' and lacking seriousness, noting it merely outlined procedural aspects without addressing the core funding concerns. 'The Committee feels an immediate need for greater coordination between the DoRD and Ministry of Finance to ensure seamless implementation,' the report said. It reaffirmed its call for increased allocation to meet the scheme's objectives. According to budget data, Rs 89,153.71 crore was spent on MGNREGS in 2023–24. However, allocations for 2024–25 and 2025–26 remained fixed at Rs 86,000 crore each.

State govt likely to formulate serviceregulations for pvt school teachers
Lucknow: The state govt is likely to soon formulate service regulations for private school teachers. Minister of state for secondary education (independent charge), Gulab Devi, gave this assurance in the Legislative Council on Monday while responding to concerns raised by the teachers' group. Dhruv Kumar Tripathi, the leader of the teachers' group in the council, spoke about the lack of service regulations for teachers and the poor work conditions. He said that earlier, unaided schools were included in the grant list, but the govt temporarily halted this by citing financial constraints for two years. "These teachers have no service conditions, and they are being exploited. They are helpless and forced into this situation. Service regulations should be created for them, and a stipend of Rs 30,000 should be given," he said. Gulab Devi stated that according to the Intermediate Act, the responsibility for all financial expenses of private schools lies with the school management. Several members, including Independent Group's Raj Bahadur Singh Chandel and Samajwadi Party leader Lal Bihari, said that the minister gave an assurance to this effect in the previous session. Legal disputes over land acquisition delay ORR project
T'puram: Outer Ring Road (ORR) project, aimed at connecting Vizhinjam to Navaikulam, has encountered a legal roadblock due to alleged irregularities in land acquisition process. Competent authority for land acquisition (Cala), responsible for acquiring land on behalf of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), is facing criticism for issuing conflicting notifications that experts allege violate legal procedures. Cala refers to revenue officials appointed by state govt to oversee the land acquisition process for national highway projects. Cala first issued a 3A notification on Oct 28, 2022, to begin acquiring land for the project. This notification serves as a notice of intention, allowing the public to raise objections within 21 days. Once objections are settled, Union ministry of road, transport and highways (MoRTH) must issue a 3D notification, which is the final approval for land takeover. According to documents accessed by TOI, MoRTH issued 3D notification in several stages during 2023 for villages including Kulathummal, Balaramapuram, Pallichal, Pullampara, Manickal, Pulimath, Nagaroor, Koduvannoor and Kilimanoor. But Cala unexpectedly, issued a new 3A notification again on Nov 22, 2024, on the properties which were issued 3D notification. Landowners and legal experts questioned this illegal move. Once a 3D notification is issued, there is no need for a 3A notification. Repeating the process without a valid reason may make the acquisition invalid. Adding to the problem, as per rules, NHAI needs to get consent from at least 70% of affected families before taking over the land. Legal experts said the step was not followed properly, making 3D notification itself questionable. "Cala issued a fresh 3A notification for properties with same survey number, which were already issued a 3D notification. It is illegal. Not only one village. There are many survey numbers. This is sheer apathy of authorities and it has to be corrected. Otherwise, it will cause more delay in the land acquisition process," said K Raveendran Nair, a landowner and legal expert. Meanwhile, Sheeja S, deputy collector (LA (NH) and Cala, Thiruvananthapuram), told TOI that 3A notification was issued to 13 villages, excluding 11 villages which were issued 3D notification. "The 3D notification for the 11 villages is still active. The 3A notification is for remaining 13 villages. So there are no illegalities. We issued notification as per procedure," she said. Villages, which were issued 3D notification, will be compensated only after the project secures Centre's approval, said Sheeja. "Once Union ministry approves the project, we will start disbursing compensation to landowners in 11 villages," she said. The cost of acquiring land has doubled owing to the delay in land acquisition. Earlier, land acquisition was estimated at Rs 1,800 crore and it has now crossed Rs 3,800 crore.
