Teen driver uses age as excuse after doing donuts: Vallejo PD
(KRON) — The Vallejo Police Department said the 'unmistakable roar of an engine and the screech of tires' led to a teenage driver being cited for reckless driving.

Vallejo PD said the incident happened Wednesday near Lewis Brown and BW Williams drives. When the officer arrived at the scene to find a cloud of smoke and the smell of burn rubber, he spotted the driver of an Infiniti G37 'still recklessly driving.'
When the 19-year-old male driver was stopped by police, he allegedly told police that 'he was doing donuts simply because he was young.'
Vallejo police said the vehicle was impounded by a tow truck and the driver must pay more than $2,600 in fines to get it back.

San Jose fraud prevention expert charged with healthcare fraud
(KRON) — A woman who worked as a security manager at Nvidia and regularly spoke as an expert on fraud prevention was charged with submitting 167 fraudulent healthcare claims against the Santa Clara-based tech company, the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office announced Friday. Faranak Firozan, 47, is accused of submitting the fraudulent claims between November 2020 and January 2024 to Nvidia's self-insured health plan, according to prosecutors. The DA's office said that many of the claims were either entirely made up or that bills were altered by changing service dates. 'Providers verified that services listed in her claims were either not performed at all or were duplicated claims,' the DA's office wrote. The scheme began to unravel in August 2024, according to prosecutors, after the California Department of Insurance received a suspected fraudulent claim referral from Cigna, which administered Nvidia's health plan. 'In 2020, she provided training on cyber laundering for the Information Systems Security Association Silicon Valley Chapter.' Firozan was charged with altering medical records with fraudulent intent and preparing false statements in connection with insurance claims. She also faces an added aggravated white-collar crime enhancement. Firozan is scheduled to be arraigned on July 15. Oakland PD asks for help solving fatal shooting cold case
(KRON) – The Oakland Police Department is asking for public assistance in solving the fatal shooting of 24-year-old Bert Brigham III. Brigham's death occurred almost four years ago on July 18, 2021, in the 1900 block of Foothill Boulevard. Oakland business looted following anti-ICE protest OPD has released images of four male suspects in their 20s and vehicles that may be connected to the case (pictured below). Per OPD, a white Kia Optima, a blue Toyota Camry, and a dark Honda Accord were the cars associated with the suspects. Woman arrested after stealing designer perfume, jewelry: PD
(KRON) – A woman was arrested after shoplifting jewelry and designer perfumes, according to the San Mateo Police Department. Recently, Macy's loss prevention officers alerted the department to a woman shoplifting. According to San Mateo police, the suspect stole two perfumes, one called Bad Boy by Carolina Herrera and the other called Gucci Guilty. San Mateo police referred to the irony of the perfume's name on its social media. The female suspect also shoplifted a cubic zirconia ring.
