St Davids lifeboat tows stricken trawler to safety
THE GLEN BAR and Restaurant in Haverfordwest has continued its amazing fundraising for the Wales Air Ambulance by raising over £1,200.
As the chosen charity for Glen Bar and Restaurant in total they have now raised £5,000 for the lifesaving cause.
The venue held a hugely popular evening with Welsh International prop Rob Evans and British and Irish Lions hooker Ken Owens.
The Wales Air Ambulance Charity relies on public donations to raise the £11.2 million required every year to keep its helicopters in the air and rapid response vehicles on the road.
Around 55 people attended the successful evening, which saw a charity auction held for a grand slam rugby jersey.
Landlord Tom Slater, who is a current player for Narberth RFC, said: 'It was a really good evening and everyone enjoyed. The players talked about their careers, and we held an auction. I'd like to thank everyone for supporting our Wales Air Ambulance fundraising events.
'I just do my best to help out and raise funds for the Charity. I live on a farm and we're very rural and you never know if you, or someone you know, will need the Wales Air Ambulance's help.
'It's an essential service and I know people whose lives have been saved by the Wales Air Ambulance.'
The Wales Air Ambulance is consultant-led, taking hospital-standard treatments to the patient and if required, transferring them directly to the most appropriate hospital for their illness or injury.
It is delivered via a unique third sector and public sector partnership.
The Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS) supplies highly skilled NHS consultants and critical care practitioners who work on board the Charity's vehicles.
This advanced critical care includes the ability to administer anaesthesia, deliver blood transfusions and conduct minor operations, all at the scene of an incident.
As a pan-Wales service, its dedicated crews, regardless of where they are based, will travel the length and breadth of the country to deliver emergency lifesaving care.
The Glen Bar and Restaurant also held an Easter hamper raffle which raised £200 for the Charity.
Mike May, West Wales Regional Fundraising Manager for Wales Air Ambulance, said: 'We are always touched when people or businesses continue to raise funds for our Charity. The Glen has supported the Wales Air Ambulance for many years, this year they raised an incredible £1,234 which will help us to meet our yearly fundraising target of £11.2 million. In total they've raised £5,000 which is amazing.
'We really appreciate the effort those at The Glen put into making their fundraising a huge success. I was delighted to meet Tom and hear about their support of our Charity. Thank you so much everyone. Fundraisers, like these ones, will help us continue to be there for the people of Wales 24/7.'

Daryll Neita has tasted success but remains desperate for her maiden major individual crown – and feels Birmingham next summer would be the perfect destination at which to achieve it. Daryll Neita believes the stars are aligning in her pursuit of a maiden European gold on home soil. The 28-year-old sprinter won 100m continental bronze at Munich 2022 before adding 200m silver to her name two years later in Rome. Neita was part of the women's 4x100m quartet who recorded their best Olympic result since 1965 with silver at Paris 2024 but remains desperate for her maiden major individual crown – and feels Birmingham next summer would be the perfect destination at which to achieve it. "It feels to me like it's meant to be," she said. "I've done the bronze in the 100m and silver in the 200m, so the only other option is for me to win double gold. "That's how I see it and there's no better place to do it than at home. That British cheer is definitely what can get me onto the podium again. "I've made an adjustment in terms of my training set up and the plan is that by next summer I will be raring and ready to go. I'm feeling really confident." The European Athletics Championships come to the UK for the first time next August, with Alexander Stadium in Birmingham playing host. The track hosted the 2022 Commonwealth Games, when Neita clocked her 100m personal best of 10.90s, adding to the her enthusiasm in returning next summer in pursuit of gold. "It makes me really excited because I love that track," she said. "There's good vibes to be going back there. Being able to race in front of a home crowd and with friends and family who often don't get to see my race is brilliant. "We don't get many chances to do that as athletes and so when you do, it's so much more special." A quarter of a million tickets for the event will go on sale in September, and prices starting from just £10 for adults. Organisers have ambitions to create one of the most talked about European athletics events in history and Neita wants to play her part in giving athletics on the platform she feels it deserves. "I think it's really exciting, we want to be on top of that podium as GB athletes and it being at home can help that," she said. "We know the UK has the best cheers. I can honestly could feel them under my skin, which is amazing. "Birmingham can bring the spirit of the UK up, and I really hope it can bring back that feeling of London 2012 or Birmingham 2022. This sport has been growing in the past few years and it's been great to be part of that evolution. "For so long there was this talk of athletics needing to be picked up and needing help to get more eyes on it, so it's great to see the amount of opportunities that are now coming through. "People are interested in it, we just need the exposure."

At 16, the Kingston-upon-Thames native carved out a hard-fought 1-6 6-3 6-3 victory over Bulgaria's Rositsa Dencheva to secure her spot in her first grand slam final. Klugman's achievement mirrors that of Michelle Tyler, the last British junior to lift the trophy back in 1976, coinciding with Sue Barker's success in the women's tournament. Reflecting on her win, Klugman shared with BBC: "I'm just a bit shocked to be honest," adding, "I wasn't playing my best and I found it tough to get myself into the match. I felt like as soon as I did that I was in a good space and I thought I could do well if I got into the match. "I think I've been mentally very good this week. I think I'm staying calm in big moments and also just trying to take it in. "These moments don't happen a lot, so trying to enjoy it is a big part. My coach and physio are basically saying 'go out there and enjoy it', because you never know if you'll be in the spot again." Klugman quoted Nadal's advice: "I struggled a bit last year and he said 'as soon as you've got the level, everything will come. So just trust it and work hard every day'." "[We talked about] taking a step back and taking your time and realising it's OK. Jack Grealish 'walks into Liverpool and Chelsea teams' as Man City exit looms
Shay Given insists his former teammate Jack Grealish still walks into any starting XI in the Premier League – including those of Liverpool and Chelsea. Having played a starring role in Manchester City's treble triumph two seasons ago, Grealish has fallen out of favour at the Etihad, starting just 16 matches in all competitions in the 2024-25 campaign. The 29-year-old found himself left out the squad for City's final game of the Premier League against Fulham in May. A week later, he left among the subs for the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace where Pep Guardiola opted to call upon 19-year-old Claudio Echeverri for his debut over the £100million man as City chased an equaliser that never came. That fee City paid Aston Villa four years ago still stands as a British transfer record but Grealish's time at the club looks to be up with the expected arrivals of Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders set to push him further down the pecking order. Tottenham, Newcastle United and former side Villa are among those to have been credited with interest in the attacking midfielder with latest reports suggest he could be available for £40m. Former City goalkeeper Given, who also played alongside Grealish at Villa Park after he emerged from the club's academy, is convinced there will be a long list of potential destinations. The former Republic of Ireland star recalled Grealish's 'phenomenal' performance for England against the Boys in Green in September last year, confident he can still produce those performances at the highest level. 'I think Jack has been a generational talent, I really do,' Given told Metro. 'I think Jack can play for every single team in the country. 'I remember not so long ago he was playing a central role for England when they played Ireland last year, he was the star man, he was phenomenal that day. 'He is only 29, he still has three or four brilliant years ahead of him at the top. Having not played recently, he will be really hungry to go out there and show how good he is. 'I wouldn't want to name clubs but at the same time I think he walks into any team in the country, that even includes Liverpool or Chelsea or anyone. I think he just needs to be given a batch of games to show how good he is back in that central position and not out wide.' Grealish is not expected to be part of the City squad for the Club World Cup with their campaign underway against Wydad AC on 18 June in Philadelphia – with Given part of the DAZN broadcast team covering the event. A move could be on the cards very soon and while City would prefer a permanent move get the player's £300,000-a-week wages off the books, a loan could also be considered. Given believes there still could be a way back at City for Grealish in the long-term, but has urged him to find a club where he can get back to playing regular football. More Trending 'Reading between the lines, the writing is on the wall,' Newcastle legend Given said. 'I'm not sure what the situation is but it doesn't look like he is going to travel with the squad. 'We have to see what happens, maybe it is time to try and find a new opportunity elsewhere. Maybe on a loan deal somewhere, go do well and maybe come back to City. So it might not be in the end of the road, I don't know. 'But what I do know is Jack just wants to get back to playing football again. That's the most important thing.'
