Wheatley's wait
England endured a frustrating group stage exit from the European Under-19 Championships thanks to Germany's injury-time winner against Norway. But Manchester United striker Ethan Wheatley had a decent tournament, scoring twice after surprisingly being left out of the starting line-up for the opening draw with Norway.Wheatley has now started his summer break but will return to United for pre-season training in July with his short-term future still undecided. The 19-year-old had a frustrating loan spell at Walsall at the end of last season, making just four appearances, and only one, as a second half substitute, from 1 February, before returning to United for the end of their Premier League 2 play-off campaign. At the same time, Chido Obi made his first-team breakthrough and now United are looking to add Bryan Mbeumo and, potentially, another number nine to Ruben Amorim's squad in addition to Matheus Cunha. It is acknowledged Wheatley needs to play games which suggests another loan move is on the horizon for a player who signed a contract to 2028 as recently as March. But after the Walsall experience, it is crucial the next loan, if that is the chosen route, is the right one.

England U21 vs Holland U21 preview: Free betting tips, odds and predictions for Euros semi-final
ENGLAND clash with Holland in the semi-finals of the European Under-21 Championships on Wednesday. SunSport betting experts have previewed the contest and selected the best bets, tips and exclusive sign-up bonuses from our leading betting partners. England U21 vs Holland U21 preview England's Under-21s remain firmly on course to defend their European Championship crown after a terrific 3-1 quarter-final victory over Spain. Goals from James McAtee, Harvey Elliott, and Elliot Anderson sealed a statement win for Lee Carsley's side, who had looked far from convincing during the group stage. But the Young Lions found their rhythm at the Stadion Antona Malatinskeho on Saturday, producing their best performance of the tournament when it mattered most. The result has installed England as favourites to lift the trophy once again, with confidence high heading into Wednesday's semi-final clash against the Netherlands in Bratislava. A fiery conclusion to the Spain match saw tempers flare and a mass brawl unfold after the final whistle - prompting Carsley to quip there were "better ways to build camaraderie." Still, the scuffle underlined the grit and fight within this England squad as they look to retain their title. The Dutch, however, promise to be stern opposition. While they too were underwhelming in the group stage - registering just one win from three - they demonstrated impressive resilience in their quarter-final win over Portugal, holding on for a 1-0 victory despite going down to 10 men after just 21 minutes. If past meetings are anything to go by, this encounter will be tight. Five of the last six meetings between these sides since 2007 have ended in draws after 90 minutes - including a 1-1 stalemate in their most recent clash in November 2024. England U21 vs Holland U21 preview betting tips and predictions Low scoring I don't anticipate a high-scoring affair on Wednesday, despite the attacking talent on both sides. As noted, five of the last six encounters between these nations have ended in draws, with only one featuring more than 2.5 goals. England, despite their 3-1 win in the quarter-finals, have been wasteful in front of goal throughout the tournament (66 shots and just 17 on target). Meanwhile, the Netherlands come into this match with back-to-back clean sheets and four shutouts in their last six games. Any time, any place James McAtee turned down the chance to play with Manchester City at the Club World Cup - and that's proven very handy indeed for Lee Carsley's side. McAtee put in an excellent display against Spain, netting in the 10th-minute from a corner. The 22-year-old now has seven goals in 21 appearances for the Young Lions - six of those arriving in his last nine starts. He also boasts the most attempts on goal of any England player at this year's competition (10). Terms and conditions *Midnite: 18+ New UK customers. Bet £10 on accas with 4+ legs, min odds 3/1 (4.0). Victor Osimhen receives 'crazy' contract offer after Man Utd and Arsenal talks
Victor Osimhen has received a 'mind-blowing' contract offer from Saudi Arabia as he looks for a new club. The Nigeria spent last season on loan at Galatasaray and is open to returning to the Turkish champions as he does not have a future at Napoli. Osimhen was a prolific goalscorer for Napoli but Antonio Conte nevertheless sanctioned his exit 12 months ago and wants him sold this summer. Ex-Chelsea target Osimhen enjoyed his time in Turkey as he scored 37 goals in all competitions to help Galatasaray clinch the title. A permanent transfer to Galatasaray remains a possibility but Osimhen is believed to be dreaming of a move to the Premier League. Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your team in the link so we can send you football news tailored to you. Manchester United and Arsenal have both been linked with Osimhen as they look to sign new strikers for Ruben Amorim and Mikel Arteta. But with the Premier League giants currently pursuing other targets – most notably Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko – Osimhen has been forced to consider other options in the transfer market. The 26-year-old has already rejected an approach from Al Hilal but has now received an improved offer from the Saudi Pro League side. According to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, Al Hilal's 'mind-blowing' contract proposal is worth around £34m a year and and close to £140m over a possible four-year deal. If he accepts, Osimhen would immediately become one of the highest-paid footballers in the world. The Nigerian has a release clause worth £64m that Al Hilal have no problem activating if he gives them the green light. Last week, ex-England defender Rio Ferdinand claimed Osimhen must be 'waiting' for a call from Manchester United after turning down a move to Saudi. Asked which striker he wants United to sign this summer, Ferdinand said: 'No.9, they already know who I want. The comments know, the people know who I want, who I would go and get: Osimhen! 'It looks like he's turned down Al-Hilal… he must be waiting for Manchester United. I don't know if Manchester United are going to come. That's the problem.' Osimhen was close to completing a deadline-day move to Chelsea last summer but the Blues are not expected to be in the transfer race given they recently signed Liam Delap from Ipswich Town. More Trending Delap is one of the most highly-rated players in England but John Obi Mikel believes Chelsea fans would have preferred to see Osimhen join the club. 'It's not a secret. Everybody knows who I want to come to the football club and who the fans want to see at the football club [Osimhen],' Obi Mikel told The Evening Standard. 'But they've decided to go down a different route. I just hope that it's going to be the right decision. I like Liam Delap. He's a good young striker who works his socks off. 'Is he a proven goalscorer in the Premier League? Can he do it at a big club like Chelsea? That's the question. It's about how the manager works with him and develops him.'
