Emmerdale favourite 'dead' in twist as John strikes again in early ITVX release
Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) got into John Sugden's (Oliver Farnworth) van at the end of last night's episode of Emmerdale, ready to be take to the train station ahead of a trip to London. As John started the engine, Mack remained unaware that he would no longer be going to the big city.
This was because of a major discovery Mackenzie made yesterday. He was snooping through some of John's belongings in the vehicle and came across a scrapbook.
On one page was a photo of John and a man called Ben. The new face appeared in the shop earlier that day, and was recognised by Tracy Shankley (Amy Walsh) as the person who picked up Nate Robinson's belongings a couple of months ago. If Mack wasn't in the shop during this period, the next few hours would've played out entirely differently.
Ben Flint told DC Cole that Owen Michaels (Simon Haines) organised the removal, therefore adding weight to the theory that he definitely murdered Nate. This of course isn't true at all.
When Mack saw the photo of John and Ben, the penny dropped pretty suddenly. The text below the picture said 'Brothers in Arms'. The development allowed Mack to work out that 1) John might not be a Sugden and 2), he paid Ben to lie to the police.
The drive out of the village was beyond tense. Mack's brain was going ten to the dozen as he tried to work out whether he was in danger.
And he absolutely was.
After John pulled over at the side of the road, he asked for Mackenzie's help to sort a problem in the back of the van. With fear running through his veins, Mack feigned ignorance for a little while, claiming he was being quiet because he just had a headache.
But by this point, John was already five steps ahead of Mack. He confirmed that he knew Mack had looked at the scrapbook and as a result, a bit of a problem had been created.
As far as Mack was concerned, he was perfectly happy to just go to London and ignore everything he had learnt about John but in a haunting twist, John told Mack he wouldn't be going to London anymore.
With no time to process the twist about Nate, Mack shoved John and tried to buy himself some time. They fought and Mack raced into the woods, kickstarting a very deadly game of cat and mouse.
As Mack ran, John followed behind him with a bow and arrow in hand. He tried to get John to stop but outrunning him, literally and metaphorically, wasn't ever going to be possible.
Mack managed to call Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) at one point, but he dropped the phone when John appeared. Unaware of what was going on, Charity took a stab in the dark (sorry) and hoped Mack was listening when she said that she wanted him to come home.
John pulled another arrow and it went right through Mack's chest, sending him flying. He was still alive but the prey was wounded, he could no longer run.
John told Mack that he never wanted things to go this far, but he does what he has to do to survive. John felt like he had to do something because if he let Mack go, he wouldn't hesitate in telling Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) everything.
With that, John found a giant boulder, lifted it above his head and threw it down, seemingly killing Mack in that moment.
Back in the village, John and Aaron's farewell party was wrapping up. John returned and joined Aaron in saying goodbye to the likes of Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) and Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins).
He then glanced over to his van and noticed blood dripping down the door. He quickly covered, telling Aaron that he needs to get fuel before they leave. Is Mack definitely dead?

Emmerdale kills off major character in bloodied soap first after five years on ITV show
EMMERDALE has killed off a major character after five years in the village - in a bloodied soap first. Viewers have watched John Sugden's reign of terror play out over the last several months. 5 5 5 It now appears that the villainous army medic claimed another victim. Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) has been suspicious about John for a long time. Emmerdale fans know John killed Nate Robinson in a shock twist last year. And he's gone on to kill his ex-fiancee Aidan shortly after he woke up from a coma. Viewers also watched recently as he framed patient Owen for Nate's murder - before killing him too. Mackenzie discovered an old photo of John with an army buddy - the same man who took Nate's belongings away. Driving Mack away from the village, John confronted him for searching through his stuff. He chillingly asked the mechanic: "By now I'm guessing you've joined up the dots?" John added: "Really would've been better for everyone if you had not seen that photo of me. Better for you." Mackenzie confirmed he knows John killed Nate - and he's known there was "something wrong" with him for a while. Emmerdale icon set to quit the Dales days after co-star's exit was confirmed and shock cheating plot After a scuffle, Mackenzie fled into the woods while John pursues, armed with a crossbow. Cornering him, John shot Mackenzie in the back with an arrow, after he tries escaping. Later, viewers saw the boot of John's van with blood stains and a body covered by a sheet. The episode ended with a flashback of John throwing a heavy rock down at a helpless Mackenzie. It comes as The Sun previously revealed Lawrence Robb had filmed devastating murder scenes for his character. A source said at the time: 'The scenes are going to be really harrowing for fans to watch. 'Mackenzie has been in so many scrapes and dangerous positions but this time it looks like he's bitten off more than he can chew. 'Viewers will be on the edges of their seats watching what happens.' Darkest soap storylines Over the years the likes of EastEnders, Emmerdale and Coronation Street have all tried to try outdo each other with their outlandish plots in a bid to keep us tuning in each week. But here are some of the darkest that had fans in shock... EastEnders: Tony grooming Whitney (2008-2009) - Tony King first appeared in Albert Square in 2008 as the boyfriend of Bianca, played by Patsy Palmer. But it was quickly revealed he was a paedophile who had been grooming vulnerable Whitney, Bianca's adopted stepdaughter from a previous relationship, since she was 12. The shocking storyline attracted more than 200 complaints within a week of it beginning. Whitney waited until her 16th birthday to reveal the truth to a horrified Bianca, who called the police. Emmerdale: Holly's drug addiction and shock death (2010-2016) - In 2010, Holly Barton (played by Sophie Powles) became Emmerdale's first teenage drug addict. The shocking storyline saw her taking cocaine on a night out before developing a deadly heroin habit. Parents John and Moira desperately tried to help get their daughter clean but when Holly returned in 2016, following a four-year absence, she quickly relapsed. Fans were left stunned and heartbroken when distraught Moira found Holly dead in her bed from a heroin overdose. Hollyoaks: Luke's rape (2000) - Actor Gary Lucy was just 17 when he took on this groundbreaking storyline, which saw his character Luke Morgan become soap's first male rape victim. Luke had endured a long-running bullying campaign by football rival Mark Gibbs - who raped him after Luke stood up to him. Luke was left suicidal following the brutal attack, before opening up to his brother Adam. Gibbs was sentenced to eight years in prison. Gary won the Best Actor gong at the British Soap Awards in 2000 for his performance. Coronation Street: Evil Richard Hillman (2001-2003) - Just a mere mention of 'Richard Hillman' is enough to send a shiver down the spines of soap fans. He is often ranked one of the most evil soap villains and it's not hard to see why. The smooth-talking financial adviser bashed his ex-wife Patricia over the head with a shovel. In a bid to keep his mother-in-law Audrey quiet, he set fire to her house. And when Maxine caught him trying to murder Emily Bishop, he took a crowbar to her head. He made his exit from the cobbles in 2003 when he drove Gail Platt, played by Helen Worth, and her family into the canal. They survived, but he didn't. The scenes are set to air later this year after Mackenzie makes a chilling discovery about John. The insider added: 'There are huge twists and turns coming throughout this storyline and it's going to run for months and months. 'Nothing can be ruled out - bosses are really going for it and doing everything they can to keep the audience on their toes.' Emmerdale airs on ITV1 and ITVX. 5 5

Emmerdale star left stumped in difficult Celebrity Catchphrase final – could you outsmart her and work them out?
AN Emmerdale star was left flummoxed in a difficult Celebrity Catchphrase final - but could you solve the tricky riddles? Rebecca Sarker, who plays Manpreet Sharma, struggled to decipher some cryptic puzzles. 5 Emmerdale's Rebecca Sarker struggled in the Celebrity Catchphrase final Credit: ITV 5 Could you work out this riddle - one of three that Rebecca stumbled on? Credit: ITV 5 She has played the role of Manpreet Sharma since 2018 Credit: ITV The actress, 50, had competed against Jordan Stephens and Les Dennis. While ascending the Super Catchphrase pyramid, Rebecca faced three difficult riddles. The first depicted the Mr. Chips character writing at a desk, with piles of paper on either side. Rebecca guessed "letter of the law" and "pencil" - but the answer turned out to be "Paper Cut". The next one showed a woman looking at a menu, pointing at the starters. Figures depicted bowls of soup which had days of the week written on them. Rebecca took a stab at "Tuesday starter" and "daily starter", among others before passing. She was later left kicking herself when the answer was revealed as "Soup Of The Day". With only seconds remaining, Rebecca moved on to another puzzle - but only saw it briefly. It featured a woman and child making sand castles together on a beach. Emmerdale's Joe Absolom wins huge jackpot with seconds to spare on Celebrity Catchphrase - but did you get it before him? Rebecca just barely saw butterflies with watches in the centre appear on screen. These represented the answer - commonly-used turn of phrase, "Time Flies". Having answered earlier puzzles correctly, Rebecca walked away with a combined £8,400 for her charity - which included her fund banked earlier. Emmerdale co-star, Joe Absolom had a very different outcome on the ITV show. The soap star, 46, had just seconds left to work out the crucial jackpot puzzle. Joe made light work of the pyramid - with 29 seconds remaining to answer the £50,000 Catchphrase. After deliberation - and only four seconds left - the actor correctly answered "One stop shop." It meant Joe scooped £50,000 for his charity - as well as £6,700 he won in earlier rounds. Host Stephen Mulhern said: "Do you know what, that is incredible. Wow, I have never seen it done like that." Joe then revealed he couldn't wait to share the good news with his charity. He joined the Emmerdale cast this year, playing shady new bad guy Ray Walters. 5 Rebecca had only seconds to view this puzzle Credit: ITV
