Dubai's Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has announced the opening of applications for the second year of the Hamdan bin Mohammed Scholarship Programme.
Launched in 2024 by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, the initiative is designed to support exceptional Emirati students in pursuing higher education at top global universities.
The scholarship, a key component of the Dubai Social Agenda 33 and the Education 33 strategy, offers 100 fully funded scholarships annually, each valued at AED 1.1 billion. It targets Emirati high school graduates, preparing them to become future leaders by providing access to world-class education.
In its inaugural year, the programme received a strong response, with all recipients securing spots at universities ranked among the top 200 globally. Notably, 15% of the first cohort enrolled in institutions ranked in the world's top 20. Students pursued degrees in diverse fields such as technology, engineering, medicine, law, and finance, aligning with Dubai's development priorities.
Dr. Amna Almaazmi, CEO of Growth and Human Development at KHDA, emphasized the programme's role in equipping the next generation with global knowledge, fostering a dynamic and sustainable future for Dubai.
Applications for the 2025-2026 academic year are open from May 8 to June 30, 2025. Eligible Emirati students can apply through the 'Emirati' section on the Dubai Now app. Further details are available on the KHDA website.

A Gateway to Promising Agricultural Markets Grains Africa 2025 serves as a gateway to promising agricultural markets, which are poised to reach a $1 trillion by 2030. The event is being held alongside AgroFood Plastpack Exhibition 2025, convening exhibitors from 16 countries, further underscoring its role in fostering international collaborations aimed at addressing critical challenges in the food sector and positively shaping the future of the agriculture sector. Some of the key exhibitors are East Gate, which specialises in bakery equipment; iPack, high-quality sterile cardboard provider; Printing Talk, which offers precision-printed packaging solutions for cafes and food companies; iPlast Industries, a pioneer in plastic pallets and innovative packaging solutions that cater to food and beverage manufacturers, particularly in filling lines; Samira Maatouk, a unique brand of premium Emirati coffee; Orion, which supplies advanced packaging products like films, liners, sleeves and bags tailored for the food and beverages industry; and Popular Popcorn, a family business offering healthy and premium popcorn participation in Grains Africa 2025 will enable UAE companies to expand into African markets, while strengthening local public-private integration. The Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates (CBUAE) increased its gold reserves by 25.899 per cent during the first five months of the year to AED 28.933 billion at the end of May, up from AED 22.981 billion at the end of December 2024. According to the Central Bank's statistical bulletin issued on Wednesday, the CBUAE's gold holdings rose by 0.49 per month, month-on-month in May, to AED 28.791 billion at the end of April. Statistics showed that demand deposits also grew, exceeding AED 1.166 trillion by the end of May, compared to AED 1.109 trillion at the end of December 2024. Of this total, AED 892.577 billion were in local currency and AED 74.329 billion in foreign currencies. Savings deposits rose to AED 359.57 billion at the end of May, up from AED 317.48 billion at the end of December 2024. This included AED 305.508 billion in local currency and AED 54.062 billion in foreign currencies. Time deposits exceeded AED1billion for the first time by the end of May, including AED614.854 billion in local currency and AED 398.348 billion in foreign currencies.
