Your Hong Kong weekend drinks guide for April 10-12
We're well under way with our month of long weekends – shortly after Ching Ming Festival (aka Tomb Sweeping Festival), Easter weekend promises both the Friday and following Monday off! There's no better time to pace out your weekend and visit three of the many fantastic guest shifts happening in our city's cocktail divans.

On Friday, pop over to The St. Regis Hong Kong as guests from its sister bars take over. Through the thick of the weekend, visit Quinary to indulge in Prohibition-era drinks from Soko bar in Seoul, or pop over to Bar Leone to sample libations from Toronto's La Pompette.

What: The St. Regis Bar Hong Kong will host two more excellent mixologists from its sister bars in Macau (ranked 22nd on Asia's 50 Best Bars last year) and in Bao'An, Shenzhen. Head mixologists Paul Pan (Bao'An) and Kevin Lai (Macau) will team up with bar and beverage manager Paul Chan in Hong Kong to serve signatures from the sister venues, such as the port wine-based Garnet Sour from Macau, and the Lockhart Road or Ridges & Seas libations from Bao'An.

Last month, the Blair Drummond Safari Park in the United Kingdom hosted an Easter egg hunt for its chimpanzees. There's nothing we love more than a long weekend, and just as it did over Easter, Hong Kong's bar scene has pulled out all the stops to offer yet another full line-up. Kick off festivities at Terrible Baby with a dose of Cantopop cocktails, head to Mostly Harmless for zero-alcohol offerings, indulge in casual izakaya-inspired bites with Neon Pigeon at Bourke's, and finish the weekend with one of Taiwan's best at Qura Bar – on a Monday! To commemorate this, neighbouring bars in Hong Kong have joined hands with Mostly Harmless for 'Sazerac Sundays Zero', with guest bartenders showcasing their takes on non-alcoholic drinks to close out the week. Though the event has been happening on, as the name suggests, Sundays, this weekend Coa is stepping to the plate on Saturday to offer a welcome break to the boozy holiday. Hong Kong's Cinema Day tickets to go on sale for HK$30 each from May 7
Hongkongers will be able to get their hands on HK$30 (US$3.90) tickets for the city's annual Cinema Day from May 7, with the organiser expecting 200,000 film fans to flock to theatres for the event aimed at giving back to society. Advertisement The Hong Kong Theatres Association announced ticketing arrangements on Thursday, about two weeks before Cinema Day's return on May 10. The association also provided an explanation for the 65 per cent decline in box office revenue over the Easter holiday. 'As for whether this was caused by more people travelling outside Hong Kong or going abroad to spend money – this is one of the reasons,' said Timothy Yuen Yin-man, the group's chairman. 'Moreover, last year there were films that were oriented towards fans such as We 12, but there are not many new films during Easter this year.'
