Kurt Kitayama finished out the weekend, winning the 2025 3M Open's top prize at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota, on Sunday.
Kitayama started the final day in third place, overcoming Sam Stevens.
Thorbjørn Olesen held at least a share of the lead after the second and third rounds, but stumbled in the final round, dropping 13 spots to finish in a tie for 14th. Akshay Bhatia also entered Sunday with a share of the lead after the first three rounds but finished tied for 25th.
The major drop in the leaderboard for players such a Olesen and Bhatia also means they missed out on a significantly larger payout.

3M Open: Kurt Kitayama gets off to hot start, holds on at the end to beat Sam Stevens by one

Kurt Kitayama got off to a blazing start and then held on at the end while his two closest competitors melted down at the final hole to win the PGA Tour's 3M Open on July 27 at the TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minn. Kitayama, a 32-year-old native of Chico, Calif., and a former high school point guard, birdied six of his first eight holes and went on to post a 65 and win by one shot over Sam Stevens at 23-under-par 261. Kitayama, whose older brother Daniel caddied for him, had to execute a difficult bunker shot at the last, hitting from a downhill lie to within 17 feet of the hole. He needed only two putts from there to win. Kurt Kitayama jumps on FedEx Cup, money lists The victory sent Kitayama soaring up the PGA Tour FedEx Cup point lists (110th to a projected 57th) and the money list (103rd to 55th with a $1,512,000 first-place check to give him $2,532,696 for the season). His ascent on the FedEx Cup point list was crucial: There is only one more regular-season event left to crack the top 70 and qualify for the FedEx Cup Playoffs, next week's Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, N.C. The 2023 Arnold Palmer Invitational winner, who got into contention with a career-low 60 in the third round, had a three-shot lead over Jake Knapp with four shots to play, which shrank to one over Stevens after a three-putt bogey at the par-3 17th hole and Stevens' making five 3s in a row between Nos. 13 and 17, three birdies and two pars at par-3s. But Stevens (66) parred the par-5 18th hole after hitting three consecutive shots into high rough and finished at 22-under and Knapp (68) hit his second shot into the water fronting the green and made bogey to fall in a tie for third at 20-under with Matt Wallace (64), David Lipsky (64) and Pierceson Coody (67). Kitayama made 20 birdies on the weekend, the most on the PGA Tour since 2003. He bogeyed two of his last three holes in the second round and made the cut by only one shot. He came from a tie for 44th and eight shots off the lead to the victory. Kitayama had a two-shot lead at the turn and after he bogeyed the 11th hole, 10 players were within four shots. But he birdied two of his next three holes, with a 6-foot putt at No. 12 and a 2-footer at No. 14, after hitting his second shot from a fairway bunker. 54-hole leaders Bhatia, Olesen fall out of contention early Akshay Bhatia and Thorbjorn Olesen, the 54-hole leaders, ran into trouble from the beginning and were never a factor. Bhatia bogeyed three of his first four holes and shot 75, finishing in a tie for 25th at 14-under. Olesen bogeyed three of his first eight holes and finished with a 73 to tie for 14th at 16-under. PGA Tour money: No changes at the top but 3M winner Kurt Kityama, runnerup Sam Stevens move up

Kurt Kitayama, the winner of the 3M Open, helped himself tremendously on the PGA Tour money list with his victory and a $1,512,000 first-place check. So did Sam Stevens, who made a run of birdies late to give himself a chance to win, and ended in second place. They were the primary movers on the money list, since the top-21 players did not enter the tournament at TPC Twin Cities. Sam Burns, who was 22nd, stayed in that spot even with a tie for 61st and more than $18,000. Kitayama went from 103rd to 55th on the money list and passed the $2 million mark ($2,532,969). Stevens went from 42nd to 28th with $915,600 and now has more than $4 million. How many millionaires are on the PGA Tour? Garrick Higgo (tie for 39th, $34,860) and Patrick Fishburn (tie for 44th, $24,696) became the most recent players to earn $1 million or more on the course this season, bringing the total to 112. There were 110 at this time last year. Kitayama became one of 71 players who have earned $2 million or more and Stevens joined the list of 28 who have earned $4 million or more. Jake Knapp's girlfriend Makena White recalls how ‘very private' relationship got exposed on PGA Tour

Makena White had no intention of exposing her 'very private' romance with PGA Tour pro and boyfriend Jake Knapp at the 2024 Mexico Open. Life, however, had other plans. White took a stroll down memory lane Monday after the PGA Tour's official X account asked its three million followers to 'share a piece of golf lore about yourself,' prompting Knapp's biggest supporter to peel back the curtain on her personal life. 4 Jake Knapp with girlfriend Makena White during the Cognizant Classic in February 2025. 'A year later I got outed playing hooky from work on a Thursday cause that same bf shot 59 & photos of us cellying were all over the internet. '2 years of getting sewered.' 4 Jake Knapp celebrated his first PGA Tour victory with Makena White in February 2024 at the Mexico Open. White and Knapp had been dating for six months at the time. She flew in from Canada for the final round after the golfer's unexpected rise to the top of the leaderboard. As Knapp has become a steady contender on tour in the year-and-half since, White has frequently been by his side. A year later, the California native shot a bogey-free 59 in the opening round of the Cognizant Classic at PGA National, joining the exclusive sub-60 club with White in attendance. 4 Jake Knapp finished tied for third at the 3M Open in July 2025. IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect When an X user asked White if she was 'upset' over the media fallout of Knapp's triumphs, she replied, 'I'm not mad at another I was simply telling a story.' Currently ranked 77th in the world, Knapp is coming off a top-three finish at last weekend's 3M Open, where he tied for third at 20-under par, three strokes behind winner Kurt Kitayama at 23-under. Knapp will be in the field at the upcoming Wyndham Championship, which tees off Thursday. He turned pro in 2016.
