FGG urges Guv to order probe into PRLIS corruption allegations
The FGG sought action to be taken on the persons responsible for squandering taxpayer's money for political gains. The FGG president M Padmanabha Reddy said that to provide drinking water and water to irrigate the perched lands of Southern Telangana, Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Project was taken up in June 2015, with an estimated cost of Rs 32,000 crore and it was contemplated to complete the project in 48 months (by middle of 2019).
'Work started hurriedly without required permissions from Centre. There were serious objections from the National Green Tribunal and for the lapses the Tribunal slapped a fine of Rs 920 crore on the Government of Telangana. The Tribunal observed that 'Telangana has made it a habit of project construction without seeking environmental clearances by claiming the project construction is in public interest',' he said.
The FGG president said that Andhra Pradesh filed a case in the Supreme Court against this project alleging the project was lifting water more than allotted. During the construction there were serious allegations of corruption. In addition, a number of cases were filed in the High Court by people for compensation of land acquired for the project.
In this way, the project was in doldrums. By November 2023, an amount of Rs 30,000 crore was spent completing 70 per cent of the work. Due to delay, proposals to revise the estimate from Rs 32,000 crore to 50,000 crore were sent by the Chief Engineer to the Government.
As the matter stands thus the then Chief Minister has taken up inauguration of the project on September 16, 2023 at Narlapoor and next day inauguration of the same project at Kollapur. In this way for the half-completed project two inaugurations just few weeks before the Assembly elections were made. For advertisement purpose, an amount of over Rs 22.13 crore was spent.
The FGG said that the project was facing cases in courts. In such a situation the completion of the project was in doubt. Spending Rs 22.14 crore for inauguration of an incomplete and doubtful project is nothing but misuse of power and squandering of Tax Payer's money. The entire exercise was done a few weeks before Assembly elections only for political gains, he alleged.

Rs 12400000000: Bankrupt Pakistan lose huge amount of money after war with India due to....
Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) lost Rs 1,240 crore (PKR 4.1 billion) in a little over two months due to a ban on Indian-registered planes over its airspace, the Ministry of Defence told the National Assembly on Friday, reported Dawn. The ministry clarified that the revenue shortfall, covering the period from April 24 to June 30, was due to a decline in overflight fees and was less than the previously reported Rs8.5 billion. This closure of airspace took place after India's unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters treaty on April 23. What caused Pakistan to lose Rs 12,400 crore in just 60 days? The bordering country closed its airspace over India's suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, a week after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that killed 26 people, primarily tourists, on April 22. According to the report, Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif said the ban, which took effect on April 24, has resulted in Pakistan losing substantial overlying revenue. Pakistan has rescinded flight permissions for all Indian-registered aircraft, whether operated, owned, or leased by Indian carriers. Why did Pakistan shut its airspace to Indian aircraft? Consequently, the Pakistan Airports Authority's revenue from overflight charges dropped during the period from April 24 to June 30, as this impacted between 100-150 Indian aircraft daily and reduced transit air traffic into/from Pakistan by nearly 20 percent, according to Dawn. Pakistan has extended its closure of airspace until August 24, 2023, to Indian aircraft. A NOTAM issued by PAA reads, 'The ban will now remain in place until 4.59 am on August 24. Pakistani airspace not available for Indian-registered aircraft and aircraft operated, owned, or leased by Indian airlines/operators, including military flights.'

Rajnath Singh lays foundation stone of Rs 1,800 crore-BEML rail coach unit in MP's Raisen
Obedullaganj: In a landmark move to bolster indigenous rail infrastructure and manufacturing, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday laid the foundation stone of the 'Bramha' BEML Rail Hub for Manufacturing in Umaria village of Raisen district, Madhya Pradesh. The state-of-the-art facility, to be developed by Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) with an investment of Rs 1,800 crore, is poised to become a cornerstone of India's self-reliant rail production ecosystem. Speaking at the ceremony, the Defence Minister hailed the initiative as a symbol of India's growing industrial prowess and praised Madhya Pradesh's emergence as a promising hub for defence and infrastructure manufacturing. 'The state has political will, stable leadership, and abundant resources. With 48,000 hectares earmarked for new investments, MP is on its way to becoming a 'Modern State',' he said. The new unit -- named after Lord Brahma, the creator of the known Universe in Hindu mythology -- will manufacture coaches for Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat, metro trains, and future high-speed rail systems, including bullet trains. It will also produce other railway components, with export-ready broad and standard gauge coaches. The plant will initially produce 200 coaches annually, scaling up to 1,100 units over time. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, also present at the event, noted that BEML has already delivered over 2,100 metro coaches and is actively developing high-speed train prototypes in collaboration with the Integral Coach Factory (ICF). 'The Umaria unit will generate at least 5,000 jobs and play a pivotal role by offloading jobs to MSMEs in meeting Indian Railways' target,' he said. Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav described the project as a proud moment for the state and a direct reflection of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Make in India' vision. 'For the first time, Madhya Pradesh will manufacture and supply train and metro coaches across the country and the world,' he said. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan spoke about Operation Sindoor on the occasion. Spanning 148 acres in Goharganj tehsil near Obedullaganj, the facility will incorporate cutting-edge technologies, including robotic welding, lean manufacturing, and solar-powered energy systems. It will require 2,000 MVA of power, to be met through renewable sources. BEML Chairman Shantanu Roy confirmed that the first coach is expected to roll out within 18 months. The plant's strategic location is expected to catalyse regional development, with ancillary industries in Raisen and Bhopal districts supplying bogies, interiors, air-conditioning systems, and other components. A dedicated rail coach technology institute is also under consideration to support skill development and technical training. BEML's expansion into Raisen marks a strategic convergence of defence-grade engineering and civilian infrastructure needs. The unit will complement its existing hubs in Bengaluru, Palakkad, and Kolar Gold Fields, and significantly enhance India's rail export capabilities.
