Figo pet insurance review 2025

Yahoo6 days ago

Figo rating: 2.7 out of 5 stars
Figo provides a solid range of coverage, although there are a couple of downsides. You'll have to buy 'Powerups' to add coverage for vet exam fees and alternative care (such as acupuncture, chiropractic, and magnet therapy). Figo's average costs are also high, coming in at 14% above average in our evaluation.
But Figo does have some pluses to consider. It's the only pet insurer in our analysis with a 100% reimbursement option available, although you can't get the unlimited annual policy with 100% reimbursement. Figo also has a low $100 deductible option if you're looking to keep out-of-pocket costs minimal, but you can't combine it with the 100% reimbursement level.
If you're worried about exclusions for preexisting conditions, Figo has an advantage if the condition is curable. If the pet's condition has been cured and there have been no symptoms or treatment for 12 months, the condition will no longer be excluded from coverage. (This does not apply to ligament and knee conditions.)

Minimum pet age: 8 weeks

Figo doesn't cover any preexisting conditions with the exception of curable conditions. It defines a preexisting condition as one of these:
A chronic condition observed by you or a vet prior to the plan start date or before the end of the waiting period
An illness or injury that first occurred or showed symptoms within the 12 months prior to the policy start date or before the end of the waiting period
An undiagnosed condition with the same clinical signs as those above
Figo will cover curable preexisting conditions if your pet has been symptom-free and treatment-free for at least 12 months prior to the plan start date. This doesn't apply to ligament and knee conditions.
Figo customers get access to a 24/7 vet helpline with unlimited use. If you have questions about your pet's health, behavior, or an emergency issue, you can chat live with a veterinary professional at any time through Figo's Pet Cloud mobile app.

Figo pet insurance doesn't cover expenses such as:
Preventative care, like wellness exams and vaccines
Rehab and physical therapy
Vet exam fees (unless you add separate coverage)
Holistic and alternative treatments
Behavioral problems
Air ambulance and non-emergency pet ambulance transportation
The cost of disposing of a pet's remains, unless you add Final Respects coverage
Boarding
Cosmetic and elective surgeries
Injuries or illnesses caused by negligence or endangerment of your pet, such as organized fighting
Medical costs that arise from ignoring a vet's recommended treatment
Grooming
Natural supplements and vitamins
Illnesses that could have been prevented by a vaccine recommended by your vet, but that you refused
Pregnancy and breeding
Vet house calls, unless the vet says it was essential in an emergency
Treatments related to parasites such as heartworms, fleas, and ticks unless there was no preventive medicine for the parasite.
Increases. You can increase your coverage when your policy renews. You can only add a Powerup (additional coverage packages), such as wellness coverage, at the time of renewal. If you increase your coverage, it will reset the waiting periods and preexisting condition exclusions.
Decreases. You can decrease your coinsurance, deductible, and plan at any point during the policy period. However, you can only drop optional endorsements when your plan renews.

36th annual Great Strides walk in Bethesda raises awareness for cystic fibrosis

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Many will gather in Bethesda Wednesday evening to join the 5K walk to raise awareness on finding a cure for cystic fibrosis. On May 7, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will host its 36th annual Great Strides walk at the Elm Street Urban Park. Check-in for the walk will begin at 5:30 p.m., and the run will begin at 6:30 p.m. Organizers noted that Great Strides is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's largest annual fundraiser. Each year, thousands come together to support the mission to cure cystic fibrosis and provide people living with the disease an opportunity to have a long, fulfilling life. DC small business owners take advantage of resources at annual 'POWERUP' summit 'Together, we can raise awareness and fund crucial scientific research, making a difference in the lives of those battling this condition,' wrote the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in a release. Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease that causes breathing problems and digestive issues, while impacting a person's lungs and other vital organs. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the disease affects about 35,000 people across the U.S. Organizers said the money raised during the walk will go toward the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to complete research and care needed to help advance a cure for the disease.
