Apple TV+ Martin Scorsese series will feature all-star lineup including rock and Hollywood legends

A new Martin Scorsese documentary highlighting the legendary filmmaker's incredible career will feature Mick Jagger, Margot Robbie, Leonardo DiCaprio, Steven Spielberg and Robert De Niro and more it has been revealed.
The five-part series will be released through Apple TV+ and also features other big names. The streaming channel announced the new five-part Scorsese documentary that will be titled Mr. Scorsese.
The five-part documentary portrait is set to be directed by filmmaker Rebecca Miller, best known for projects like She Came To Me and Personal Velocity.
While a release date for Mr. Scorsese has yet to be announced, Apple TV+ has teased that it is 'coming soon'.
It will chronicle Scorsese's life and legendary career through chats with the iconic filmmaker himself, along with 'unrestricted access' to his private archives and 'never-before-seen interviews with friends, family, and creative collaborators'.
Among the star-studded roster of talent speaking to Apple TV+ for the documentary are his long-time collaborators De Niro and DiCaprio as well as titans such as Daniel Day-Lewis, Steven Spielberg, Robbie Robertson, Sharon Stone, Jodie Foster and Cate Blanchett.
His wife Helen Morris and his children and childhood friends will also participate.
Miller's documentary will also cover a large span of Scorsese's life, beginning with his student films while attending the New York University, to present day.
According to Miller, the project has been in the works for several years, and is so extensive that it's changed from a single-part documentary into a five-parter.
'His work and life are so vast and so compelling that the piece evolved from one to five parts over a five-year period; crafting this documentary alongside my longtime collaborators has been one of the defining experiences of my life as a filmmaker.'
Scorsese's latest output was 2023's Killers of The Flower Moon. He also had a cameo role in the opening episode of Seth Rogen's comedy Studio in which he pitches a film about the Jonestown massacre only for the movie to be unceremoniously ditched.
Scorsese is currently producing a documentary about the late Pope Francis, which will feature the late Pontiff's his last on-camera interview.

The screenplay, penned by Joe Penhall, Duncan Campbell, and Mark Seal, brings to life the notorious Hatton Garden safe deposit burglary - a heist carried out over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend in April 2015 by a band of seasoned elderly criminals. The film boasts a star-studded cast including Michael Caine, Tom Courtenay, Michael Gambon, Francesca Annis, Charlie Cox, Jim Broadbent, Paul Whitehouse and Ray Winstone. It tells the tale of a group of retired crooks (and one young alarms expert) who plan and pull off a daring robbery in London's jewellery quarter during the Easter Bank Holiday weekend. However, their final big score quickly descends into chaos as greed takes hold. Despite its stellar cast and gripping real-life story, King of Thieves failed to make a significant impact either commercially or critically. Box Office Mojo reports that the film only raked in $7,518 domestically in the United States and Canada, with just $3,502 earned during its opening weekend. Globally, the film grossed around $11.5 million at the box office, reports the Daily Record. The film's scenes were predominantly shot in central London and around Margate in Kent, showcasing venues like the Wig and Pen Pub, the Nayland Rock Hotel, Harbour Arm, outside Turner Contemporary, and Margate railway station. Additionally, one can spot Abbott's Cliff in Dover during the train sequence when Brian Reader (played by Michael Caine) heads to Margate. (Image: Publicity Picture) Despite its cinematic setting, the movie didn't quite stir up a storm, settling for a 31 per cent review score on Rotten Tomatoes. Both critics and audiences seemed underwhelmed by how the film was brought to life. Echoing the sentiment, a critic wrote: "The Hatton Gardens heist was a ballsy operation. You can't say the same about King of Thieves." Another reviewer pointed out: "King of Thieves really should have delivered way more cinematic swag than it does." Meanwhile, a commentator dissected the film's tone: "Torn between jaunty genre hijinks and a bleaker streak of realism, it's a strangely stiff, lethargic account of a cracking tale." The stinging critiques continued with a reviewer saying: "There is one joke in King of Thieves, and it's that the thieves are old. That's it-that's the whole movie," while another lamented: "Marsh had his hands on some very fancy jewels. What he didn't have, sadly, was the script to make them gleam." The audience feedback was similarly tepid, with one viewer saying: "Passes the time but little else. Tries hard to be both a comedy and a thriller but doesn't really succeed at either. For such a daring burglary, this could have surely been done a lot better." Another cinema-goer likened the film to the bungled robbery it portrays, adding: "Based on a real account of a robbery in London and featuring a superb all British cast. Very much like the botched heist, the plot here is in shambles all over the place." A different viewer didn't mince their words expressing their disappointment, saying: "It's poorly written. The heist isn't that exciting. The humour isn't funny." Meanwhile, another audience member remarked: "Not a gripping tale. At times the audience were laughing - was this supposed to be a comedy? ? ? Difficult to remember the names of the was who? "Undoubtedly the royalty of British male actors but the story was weak. It could have been much better if there was character and story development of the Police activity pitted against the perpetrators. Shame - not worth a look."

Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein trailer drops after filming at spooky Scottish estate
The first trailer for Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein is out, with scenes filmed at a haunting estate in Aberdeenshire. The first trailer has landed for Guillermo del Toro's long-awaited adaptation of Frankenstein, and Scottish horror fans may recognise a hauntingly familiar backdrop. Last year, film crews descended on Aberdeenshire to shoot scenes for the highly anticipated Netflix production. Among the key locations was the atmospheric Dunecht House, a grand 19th-century mansion nestled in the north-east countryside, and the perfect setting for a gothic tale of monsters and madness, Aberdeen Live reported. With its dramatic granite façade, Greek and Italian architectural flourishes, sweeping arches and Scottish baronial towers, the stately home looks as though it was plucked straight from the pages of Mary Shelley's original novel. Little wonder then that del Toro and his team chose it as one of the film's centrepieces. Dunecht House dates back hundreds of years and was originally built as a replacement for a nearby mansion. Over time, it grew in scale and grandeur, boasting 24 bedrooms, 16 bathrooms, a 120-foot library, and even an observatory. Once a social hub for Scotland's elite, the estate hosted an annual ball attended by high-ranking families from the likes of Cluny Castle and Drum Castle. Beyond its architectural splendour, the mansion sits within breathtaking grounds, which are listed on the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes in Scotland, a designation reserved for spaces of historical and artistic significance. Among the highlights are two formal terraces and a variety of landscaped gardens. But what truly cements its horror credentials is the house's otherworldly reputation. Locals have long whispered about strange goings-on behind its heavy doors, lending it an eerie mystique that makes it tailor-made for a chilling film like Frankenstein. According to the official logline, the film tells the story of 'a brilliant but egotistical scientist [who] brings a creature to life in a monstrous experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation.' Oscar Isaac stars as Dr Victor Frankenstein, with Jacob Elordi portraying the infamous Monster. Their journey, from modest beginnings in Sweden to encounters with gangland threats and even an unsuccessful Eurovision bid, is nothing short of a rollercoaster ride... The electro-pop outfit hailing from Scandinavia was born in Gothenburg in 1987, comprising siblings Jonas, Linn and Jenny Berggren, with Ulf Ekberg rounding off the quartet. Starting out in the local club scene, the group initially found it tough to make their mark, given the Swedes' preference for heavy metal—a stark contrast to their techno beats. However, their fortunes changed when their single, Wheel of Fortune, hit the charts, paving the way for their next release, All that She Wants, to catapult them to global stardom. The track went platinum and dominated the UK charts for three consecutive weeks in 1993. (Image: Phillippe Caron/ Getty) Their winning streak continued with hits like The Sign, becoming a club anthem worldwide in the early 90s. But, as quickly as they ascended to fame, they faded into obscurity just as swiftly, reports the Daily Record. The last sighting of the group was during a series of concerts between 2007 and 2009, where they performed as a trio without Linn. Since then, the original band members have all embarked on vastly different journeys. Jenny Berggren Jenny, a former member of the band who left in the late 00s, was the only one to pursue a solo music career and also ventured into writing. In 2009, she penned her autobiography Vinna hela världen, which translates to 'To Win the World' in English; however, a translated version never saw publication. Her solo musical journey began in 2010 with the release of her single, Here I Am, which peaked at number 14 on the Swedish charts. She followed up with another single, Gotta Go, and her debut album, My Story, within the same year. (Image:) Additionally, Jenny made an attempt to represent Denmark at the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest with her track, Let Your Heart B Mine, but did not secure the nomination. In 2024, she joined Ulf in the documentary, Ace of Base: All That She Wants, which delved into the band's history. During the programme, she shared a harrowing incident from the early '90s when an intruder broke into her home and threatened her with a knife. Reflecting on the terrifying event in an interview with People, Jenny remarked: "I think that was when the star was born in me. I wanted to sing. I had to calculate with all the dangers, and I just realised, 'No, I want to sing. This is what I want'." Ulf Ekberg Ulf Ekberg has since shifted his focus to nurturing tech start-ups in Sweden. In a conversation with ABC, the ex-musician observed: "There's so many tech companies in Sweden, especially Stockholm. "I'm interested in creating a sector in technology and music. I'm building companies, and it's been a fantastic last five years. It feels like everything is exploding here. We are in a lot of different sectors, but we try to keep it to the creative sectors as much as possible; movies, TV, music and entertainment, which are obviously very close to my heart." In an interview with People, he elaborated: "I think it's a very important topic to talk about because it is a very angry world we live in right now. It's much more angry than when I was a teenager." He continued, sharing his hope that his story could inspire others: "I hope that maybe that part of this documentary can show that even if you are completely lost, you can always find your way and it's never too late - which, I was blessed with a second chance in my life." Jonas and Linn Berggren Post-band life has seen Jonas and Linn Berggren retreat from the limelight, with Linn particularly shunning public attention. Jonas briefly resurfaced at an event featured towards the end of the documentary, whereas Linn opted to contribute through a letter, which Jenny reads out in the concluding episode. However, the band did reunite for a one-off gig on their 30th anniversary. Much to the joy of numerous fans, they returned to headline the 90s Nostalgic Electric Circus festival in Canada, donning black lace and flower-inspired attire.
