Red Sox Make Roman Anthony Announcement After Rafael Devers Trade

Yahoo5 hours ago

Red Sox Make Roman Anthony Announcement After Rafael Devers Trade originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Rafael Devers era came to an abrupt end on Sunday when the Boston Red Sox shipped their star player off in a trade that rocked the MLB world, but the team's next era could just be starting.

Just one day after the Red Sox sent Devers to the San Francisco Giants in a blockbuster trade, highly anticipated rookie Roman Anthony achieved a major career milestone. As the Red Sox announced, Anthony connected on his first MLB home run in a 2-0 win over the Seattle Mariners.
"Someone go get that ball!" the team shared in a post on X. "Roman Anthony's first Big League dinger!"
Anthony was ranked as the No. 1 prospect in the MLB when he was called up this month. The Red Sox may now need his production to help offset the loss of Devers, the team's best hitter.
Red Sox CEO Sam Kennedy spoke out on the Devers trade on Monday, saying the team just couldn't find a way to move forward with the disgruntled star who bristled at the team's attempt to move him to first base after already shifting him to the designated hitter spot this season.

"In the end it was pretty clear that we couldn't find alignment with [Devers], is the truth," Kennedy told reporters on Monday, via CBS Sports.
"We all worked at it over the last several months going back to the offseason. ... We had a different vision for him going forward than he had, and we couldn't get there. We couldn't find alignment, and we reached that inflection point and made the decision to make a big move."

Josh Allen's Unexpected Decision Leaves Fans in Disbelief

Josh Allen's Unexpected Decision Leaves Fans in Disbelief originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is coming off an NFL MVP season in which he threw for 3,731 yards, 28 touchdowns and six interceptions, while also rushing for 531 yards and 12 touchdowns. Advertisement In December 2021, Allen signed a multi-year endorsement deal with Nike, which included apparel and footwear. With the Bills holding mandatory minicamp from June 10-12, all eyes were on Allen as he geared up for his eighth NFL season. However, the 29-year-old didn't wear Nike cleats — a departure from his consistent practice of wearing them since signing his deal. Allen instead wore white New Balance cleats, a clear indication that he left Nike this offseason. Photos of Allen in the cleats made their way to social media, and fans were shocked by the move. "No way 😒," a fan said. "His cleat game was fire last season. Shame on Nike," another wrote. Advertisement "Diabolical 😂," added another. "Jeez. New balance must be paying big," wrote a fan. "😔 but happy for him. He was killing it in Nik," said another. "I like New Balance but Nike is King in the Football Space," one said. Allen also holds the record for the highest passer rating in a single postseason (149.0 in 2021) and is tied for the most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback in a single season (15).
