Red Sox Trade Idea Involves Recently Dealt White Sox's Aaron Civale
Red Sox Trade Idea Involves Recently Dealt White Sox's Aaron Civale originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Starting pitcher Aaron Civale has already been dealt once this season. Civale, whose relationship with the Milwaukee Brewers grew fractious after the club requested he move to the bullpen, was traded to the Chicago White Sox on June 13.

Since then, he has appeared in one game for the South Siders – a five-inning outing against the Texas Rangers two days after the trade. Civale took the loss in the contest, allowing six hits and two earned runs while striking out four batters and walking four more.
There is a chance, though, that Chicago will not be Civale's final destination by season's end. NESN.com's Owen Crisafulli believes that the Boston Red Sox may need his services, especially since the two starting pitchers the team received in a separate trade involving Rafael Devers are not big-league ready yet.
"Boston did add some pitching in [Jordan] Hicks and [Kyle] Harrison from the Giants as part of their Devers deal, but Hicks is on the injured list, and Harrison was assigned to Triple-A. As a result, the pitching staff still needs help, which is where New England native Aaron Civale comes into play," Crisafulli wrote.
"Civale was just traded from the Brewers to the Chicago White Sox after he requested a trade when the team asked him to move to the bullpen. While it may seem unlikely he gets dealt again, reports indicate the White Sox are looking to flip him again before the trade deadline."

What adds intrigue to a potential White Sox-Red Sox trade involving Civale is the fact that the right-hander reportedly would be interested in a move to Beantown, according to MassLive's Chris Cotillo.

"Prior to being sent to Chicago, Civale (who is from Connecticut) made it clear he would like to pitch for the Red Sox before he retires," Crisafulli wrote. "His numbers this year aren't great (1-3, 4.67 ERA, 23 K, 1.48 WHIP) but he's a veteran innings-eater with a track record of success, and he'd be well worth a flier for Boston."
Civale has also spent time with the Cleveland Guardians and Tampa Bay Rays throughout his seven-year MLB career. He boasts a 40-38 record, 4.06 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and 600 strikeouts in 663.1 innings pitched across 123 career starts.

ESPN Predicts Ohio State's W-L Record In 2025
ESPN Predicts Ohio State's W-L Record In 2025 originally appeared on The Spun. Despite losses to Oregon and Michigan last year, Ryan Day's team was able to right the ship and deliver Ohio State its first national title since 2014. Advertisement Now with the 2025 season right around the corner, ESPN's Football Power Index has predicted the Buckeyes' record for next season. And it sounds like it could be more of the same for OSU this fall. Per the FPI, Ohio State projects to go 10-2 in the '25 campaign with a 40.3% chance of winning the Big Ten, a 70.6% chance of making the College Football Playoff and a league-best 10.8% chance of winning a second consecutive national championship. Ohio State, Penn State and Oregon are predicted to sit atop the B1G with all three programs expected to be in the 10-win range. As for the rest of the conference, this is how the network sees things shaking out: Ohio State Buckeyes (10-2) Penn State Nittany Lions (10-2) Oregon Ducks (10-2) Michigan Wolverines (8-4) USC Trojans (8-4) Nebraska Cornhuskers (7-5) Indiana Hoosiers (7-5) Washington Huskies (7-5) Minnesota Golden Gophers (6-6) Illinois Fighting Illini (6-6) Iowa Hawkeyes (6-6) Maryland Terrapins (5-7) Rutgers Scarlet Knights (5-7) Wisconsin Badgers (5-7) UCLA Bruins (5-7) Michigan State Spartans (5-7) Northwestern Wildcats (4-8) Purdue Boilermakers (3-9) ATLANTA, GA - JANUARY 20: Head Coach Ryan Day of the Ohio State Buckeyes interviewed after the Ohio State Buckeyes versus Notre Dame Fighting Irish College Football Playoff National Championship game on January 20, 2025, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA. (Photo by John Adams/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images)Despite losing some big time playmakers to the NFL, few schools reload as well as Ohio State when it comes to replenishing talent. And they already have arguably two of the best players in college football in safety Caleb Downs and wide receiver Jeremiah Smith. Advertisement With some tough games on the schedule though, the FPI can only conceive giving OSU slight odds to go undefeated. But as Texas' Steve Sarkisian has noted, going unbeaten in modern CFB is just no longer all that realistic. SEC Quarterback Eviscerates Quality Of Play In The Big Ten
SEC Quarterback Eviscerates Quality Of Play In The Big Ten originally appeared on The Spun. With one more year of eligibility thanks to a judge's order, Diego Pavia has made stated that he'd like to remain at Vanderbilt — although that's not his only option. Advertisement Sitting down on the "Bussin' with the Boys" podcast, the Commodores quarterback confirmed he received a $4 million NIL offer from another SEC team before taking some shots at the Big Ten. "You want to play with the best — you don't want to play with the Big Ten. … You ignore those calls," Pavia told the Michigan and Nebraska grads. "You know that." "But you've got to think about this, too," he continued. "The SEC is, like, nothing. Like, OK, the Big Ten, you have Ohio State, Oregon … the SEC, it's like week after week. You're going to get beat on. The Big Ten, you're not gonna get beat on with the Purdue, Nebraskas." Advertisement "The best pass rushers are from the SEC, except, like, Abdul Carter. You'll find one. You'll have one or two. … If the kid from South Carolina [Dylan Stewart] could've left, he would've been a first-round pick." Pavia helped turn Vanderbilt into one of the nation's most exciting teams after transferring in from New Mexico State prior to starting his career at the JUCO level. Last season he threw for 2,133 yards and 17 touchdowns with another 716 yards and six scores on the ground on the way to taking down No. 1 Alabama at home and nearly upsetting the Texas Longhorns as well. Leading Pavia to take another shot at the B1G's Wolverines for not winning more than they do given their massive budget and donor base. Advertisement "Michigan's a great school, but they should winning more than they should with the cap that they got," Pavia claimed. "Like, Dave Portnoy donates to Michigan. I know their NIL is through the roof. Should you not win?" Kevin Durant's Preferred Team Reportedly Taking 'Conservative' Approach in Trade Pursuit
Kevin Durant's Preferred Team Reportedly Taking 'Conservative' Approach in Trade Pursuit originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Kevin Durant wants the Phoenix Suns to trade him to the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs or Miami Heat. Advertisement The Suns are expected to trade Durant before the 2025 NBA Draft, but there is no guarantee they will send the future Hall of Famer to Houston, San Antonio or Miami. Durant, 36, doesn't have a no-trade clause in his contract, so he can't control where the Suns trade him. The four-time scoring champion turns 37 in the fall. He has one year left on his contract. The Minnesota Timberwolves are interested in trading for Durant, but according to Sam Amick and Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, the Timberwolves "were made aware" that Durant wants to play for the Spurs. San Antonio, though, has been "conservative" in its pursuit of Durant. The Spurs have been "conservative" in their pursuit of Kevin Durant. Rick Scuteri-Imagn Images A top 75 player of all time, Durant showed this season that he's still one of the best players in the NBA. The Texas product averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 62 starts while shooting 52.7 percent from the field, 43.0 percent from beyond the arc and 83.9 percent from the free-throw line. Advertisement The Spurs haven't made the playoffs since 2019, but they have the second overall pick in this year's draft, the 2025 Rookie of the Year in Stephon Castle and All-Stars De'Aaron Fox and Victor Wembanyama. The eighth leading scorer of all time, Durant has played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Suns. He's a two-time champion and a two-time Finals MVP. KD also won the 2014 MVP Award with the Thunder. It will be fascinating to see if the Spurs trade for Durant, who hasn't gotten back to the NBA Finals since leaving the Warriors in 2019.
