In U-Turn, Pak Minister Says "No Objection" To Terror Group Tag For TRF
The TRF, a proxy of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), claimed responsibility for the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 people. He had asserted that TRF had not carried out the attack, despite the group's public claim of responsibility.
Speaking at an event in Washington, he said, "It is a sovereign decision of the United States to designate the TRF. We have no issue. And we welcome, if they have any evidence, that they are involved."

He added that he has "no objection" to the US designating the group as a terrorist organisation, but linking TRF with Lashkar-e-Taiba is "wrong". Dar repeated a claim often made by the Pakistani government and said, "That outfit was dismantled years ago by Pakistan. The actors were prosecuted, arrested and jailed, and the entire outfit was destroyed."
India had pressed for TRF to be recognised as a terrorist outfit internationally, since 2023. It had submitted evidence and representations to the UN's 1267 Sanctions Committee monitoring team in May and November 2024.
India had designated TRF as a terrorist organisation under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in January 2023. According to the South Asia Terrorism Portal, TRF emerged in 2019 through social media announcements, and since then, has taken the responsibility for several attacks across Jammu and Kashmir.
Dar met US Secretary of State Marco Rubio earlier on Friday. "Met with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister @MIshaqDar50 today to discuss expanding bilateral trade and enhancing collaboration in the critical minerals sector. I also thanked him for Pakistan's partnership in countering terrorism and preserving regional stability," Marco Rubio posted on X.

Pakistani Foreign Minister had also said that the two countries were very close to a trade deal and it could come within days.

‘Jets welcomed with nimbu-mirch': Akhilesh's big question on Op Sindoor

He asked who would take responsibility for "the intelligence lapse" in the April 22 Pahalgam attack, and called Op Sindoor, "a symbol of the government's intelligence failure". Slamming the government, Akhilesh Yadav asserted that the fight was against China, not Pakistan. "Why are terror activities taking place regularly under the government. While Pakistan poses a threat to India, the bigger threat is from China, what is your preparation against that?" Akhilesh Yadav asked, adding he hopes to get answers to these questions when the government responds on Operation Sindoor. Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, was the government's response to the Pahalgam attack in which 26 civilians lost their lives. Owaisi seeks answers on fighter jet squadrons, accuses Centre of failing to make use of internal unity during Operation Sindoor
Hyderabad parliamentarian Asaduddin Owaisi raised concerns in the Lok Sabha over India's defence preparedness and sought to know why only 29 fighter squadrons are operational despite a sanctioned strength of 42, and compared this military capability with adversaries like China and Pakistan 'After 60 years, we have only 29 squadrons. Pakistan has 25. China has more than 50. You have been in power for 11 years,' Mr. Owaisi said during a discussion on Operation Sindoor on Monday (July 28, 2025) night. He also sought to know whether India would obtain source code on weapons during its future acquisitions. Mr. Owaisi criticised the politicisation of national security, saying the government had failed to utilise the consensus and cohesion across the country achieved during Operation Sindoor. He said that the Pakistani army, ISI and its deep state always wanted to weaken India. 'That unity should have been used to strengthen internal cohesion and unity. If minorities are targeted with bulldozers and hate speeches, and communalism, which God forbid, helps the agenda of the terror organisations of the neighbouring country,' he warned. He also expressed grief over the deaths of 14-year-old twins Zain Ali and Urwa Fatima, five-year-old Maryam, and madrassa teacher Maulana Iqbal. He paid tribute to Indian security personnel, including Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar and BSF Sub Inspector Mohammed Imtiyaz. He thanked Kashmiri civilians who condemned the Pahalgam attack from mosque pulpits. He demanded that the government 'fix accountability'. 'Who is accountable?' he asked. 'If it is the Lieutenant Governor, suspend him. If it is the police or intelligence bureau, take action. You cannot just conduct Operation Sindoor and expect people to forget.' Taking aim at the government's deterrence policy, Mr Owaisi said, 'You did surgical strikes, you did Balakot. Yet Pahalgam happened. That means your deterrence has failed.' Has the country become banana republic, asks CPI MP on arrest of Kerala nuns
NEW DELHI: Communist Party of India (CPI) MP P Sandosh Kumar said on Tuesday that the arrests of two Catholic nuns, hailing from Kerala, in BJP-ruled Chhattisgarh on charges of human trafficking and forced religious conversion are "strange and shocking," and questioned if the country has become a "banana republic." According to media reports, the Kerala-based nuns were arrested at a railway station in Chhattisgarh recently on charges of human trafficking and forced conversion raised by right-wing activists. "This is a strange, shocking case. The charges are under (section) 143 of the BNS, which is human trafficking. If more than one victim is involved, it is an offence punishable with more than 10 years of imprisonment," Kumar told PTI Videos. "What is this human trafficking from Durg station to Agra station? Has this country become a banana republic?" he asked. "Under the BJP's raj, all minorities are being targeted. Christian nuns and fathers are afraid of wearing their dresses," he said.
