The Pittsburgh Pirates have a young star pitcher in Bubba Chandler, and fans are waiting to witness him in the big leagues. Yet the team is not hurrying. Chandler has been one of Triple-A's Top pitchers this year.
He's done a great job on the mound, striking out dozens of batters and keeping runs from scoring. Despite these excellent statistics, the Pirates prefer that he continue to develop before debuting in the MLB.
Bubba Chandler dominating and Pirates seeking more expansion
Bubba Chandler is only 21 and already proving himself to be a star. In Triple-A Indianapolis, he has started nine times and has given up very few runs. He's getting hitters out and preventing them from getting a hit.
His numbers are good, but Pirates general manager Ben Cherington indicated that they would like Chandler to pitch as if every game is against MLB hitters. The idea is to toughen him up mentally and physically before bringing him up.

Chandler is not the only young pitcher the Pirates are monitoring. Others such as Mike Burrows, Carmen Mlodzinski, and Thomas Harrington are also on the radar. Cherington indicated there are no guarantees yet on who gets called up and when.

But for all of them, the team would love to see them contribute in 2025. Chandler, especially, has made some fantastic strides, and the Pirates would like to see him keep that going at Triple-A.

Patience is key for Pirates and Bubba Chandler
Bubba Chandler was drafted in 2021. He rejected a football scholarship at Clemson to play baseball. He worked hard since then to develop into a big-time pitcher. He did great in Double-A and now Triple-A, but the Pirates are cautious.
Cherington said that Chandler is young and has only been a full-time starter for roughly two years. They're monitoring his health, his body, and how many pitches he's thrown throughout the years.
The Pirates are going to ensure Chandler is prepared for a complete MLB season. That implies providing him with extra time in the minors, even if he appears ready currently. The future of Bubba Chandler is bright, and if he continues to improve, he will soon be in Pittsburgh.

The RCB squad arrived in Bengaluru on Wednesday morning before heading to Vidhana Soudha where they were felicitated by Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D K Shivakumar.
