Tej Pratap breaks his silence a week after expulsion from RJD

The Hindu2 days ago

Former Bihar Minister Tej Pratap Yadav on Sunday (June 1, 2025) broke his silence a week after his expulsion from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) by his father and party chief Lalu Prasad.
Without naming anyone, Mr. Yadav in a social media post on X said some people had hatched a conspiracy to separate him from Tejashwi Yadav, his younger brother and Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly.
Comparing himself to Lord Krishna and his younger brother to Arjuna, Mr. Tej Yadav asserted that he would soon expose those playing the role of Jaichand (betrayer).
Mr. Prasad had on May 25 expelled his elder son from the party for six years and snapped all family ties with him, stating that his actions were 'irresponsible' and not in accordance with public conduct.
'My dear mom and dad, my whole world is just you two. You and your orders are greater than God. If you are there, I have everything. I only need your trust and love and nothing else,' Mr. Tej Yadav posted at 5:27 a.m., while blaming a few greedy people of 'playing politics' with him.
'Papa, if you had not been there, this party would not have been there and neither would there be some greedy people like Jaichand who played politics with me. Mom and dad, may you both always be healthy and happy.'
Sources said Mr. Prasad took action against his son after pictures of his remarriage were posted on his Facebook account. He later deleted that post claiming that his account was hacked.
Later in the afternoon, Mr. Tej Yadav posted another message with an attacking tone.
'Those who dream of separating me from my Arjun, you will never be successful in your conspiracies. You can take Krishna's army but not Krishna himself. I will expose every conspiracy soon. Just have faith my brother, I am with you in every situation. I am away right now but my blessings were and will always be with you. My brother, take care of mom and dad, Jaichand is everywhere, inside as well as outside,' Mr. Tej Yadav said.
In May 2018, Mr. Tej Yadav married Aishwarya Rai, the granddaughter of former Bihar Chief Minister Daroga Prasad Rai but filed for divorce five months later. Ms. Rai termed Sunday's posts 'drama' keeping in mind the forthcoming Assembly election.

What to know about fatal shooting of 'King of the Hill' actor Jonathan Joss as co-stars pay tribute

HOUSTON — What prompted the fatal shooting of Jonathan Joss, a Native American voice actor best known for his work on the animated television series 'King of the Hill,' remained unclear on Tuesday. While Joss' husband has claimed the person who killed the actor yelled 'violent homophobic slurs' before opening fire, San Antonio police have said they've found 'no evidence whatsoever to indicate that Mr. Joss' murder was related to his sexual orientation.' Police did not respond to multiple emails on Tuesday seeking additional information on the cause of the shooting. Since Joss' killing, friends, actors Joss worked with and fans have honored the actor's memory with tributes and fond remembrances. Here's what to know about Joss, his career and his shooting: Joss, 59, grew up in San Antonio and graduated from the communications and theater program at Our Lady of the Lake University in 1990. Joss was best known as the voice of John Redcorn, a Native American character on the popular 'King of the Hill' animated series, which ran for 13 seasons from 1997 to 2008. A reboot of the show, which Joss had already worked on, is set to start in August. Joss also had a recurring role on the television show 'Parks and Recreation,' playing Chief Ken Hotate. He appeared in two episodes of the series 'Tulsa King' in 2022. Joss' childhood home, where he still lived, burned down in January. He lost all his belongings and his three dogs were killed in the blaze. A GoFundMe account had been set up to help Joss and his husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, get back on their feet. 'We may have lost our home, but not our hope. We're moving forward with love, humor, and a little elbow grease…and we're incredibly grateful for every ounce of support,' Joss said in a May 14 Facebook post in which he indicated he was in Los Angeles looking for a new home. Sigfredo Ceja Alvarez, 56, is accused by police of confronting Joss and his husband as they were checking their mail at the burned-down home Sunday night. In a statement, de Gonzales alleged that when Ceja Alvarez opened fire, Joss pushed his husband out of the way and saved his life. Ceja Alvarez was charged with murder. Court records indicate he was freed Monday on a $200,000 bond. Ceja Alvarez's attorney, Alfonso Otero, did not immediately return a call or an email seeking comment. Robert Rios, a friend of Joss', told TV station KSAT that Joss and Ceja Alvarez were neighbors and the two had argued for years. Actor Chris Pratt, who worked with Joss on 'Parks and Recreation,' fondly remembered the actor in an Instagram story on Monday. Both actors had also appeared in the 2016 remake of 'The Magnificent Seven.' 'Damn. RIP Jonathan. Always such a kind dude,' Pratt wrote. 'Sad to see. Prayers up. Hug your loved ones.' In a Facebook post, San Antonio-based Our Lady of the Lake University, Joss' alma mater, called him 'a trailblazer in his field. His work and advocacy have left a lasting impact, and his legacy will continue to inspire.' 'You were more than a character — you were a storyteller, a dreamer, and a force that will never be forgotten,' comedian Roy Alex Gomez, who was a friend of Joss, wrote in a Facebook post. Pak agent gave Rs 15,000 to Thane man as gift

RAVI VARMA (27), the Thane resident arrested last week by the Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) for allegedly providing sensitive information to a Pakistan Intelligence Operative (PIO), had put his company's name and phone number on his social media profile, making him an easy target of enemy spies, officials said. Varma, who was honey-trapped by the PIO posing as a college student from Punjab, worked for a defence firm contracted by the Indian Navy. Initially, the PIO contacted him on messenger through fake accounts but he blocked them. The Pakistani agent then contacted him directly on WhatsApp as his mobile number too was mentioned on his profile, an official said, adding that those working in sensitive sectors should not mention personal details on their social media accounts as PIOs actively seek such information online. Giving details of how he was honey-trapped, the official said initially the PIO posed as a girl, identifying herself as 'Preety', a student of Panjab University, and contacted him on Facebook messenger. She said she had a college project related to construction of a ship and needed his help. He blocked her. She then contacted him from another account identifying herself as 'Ashpreet'. She requested him to help her or she would fail. Eventually, she called him on WhatsApp and, over a period of time, he allegedly sent her photographs of maps of ships that he drew after visiting restricted areas in Mumbai port. He also chatted with one of her 'professors' whom he addressed as 'Sir'. 'She also gave him around Rs 15,000 to purchase things for his sister's children. In fact, his sister had a fight with the woman, asking her to leave her brother. However, by then he was smitten by her and had passed on enough sensitive details,' the official said. The official said the private defence company in Navi Mumbai for which he worked, the terms and conditions specifically mentions that employees are not meant to share sensitive information they have access to because of the nature of their job. The accused was produced before the Thane court on Monday and his custody extended.

AIMIM keen to contest Bihar assembly elections with 'INDIA' bloc

PATNA: Asaduddin Owaisi's AIMIM, often criticised by the Congress and RJD as the 'B-team' of the BJP, is now making active efforts to join hands with the INDIA bloc for the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, scheduled for October-November this year. AIMIM's Bihar chief and MLA Akhtarul Iman told reporters on Tuesday that his party had reached out to RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav through some MLAs with a proposal to contest the elections together, especially in the Muslim-dominated Seemanchal region. He said AIMIM is firmly against the BJP and now it's up to Tejashwi to respond to the alliance proposal. 'Our MLAs told me that the offer has not been rejected so far,' Iman said. During his last visit to Bihar, Owaisi had accused the RJD of engineering defections in his party but expressed confidence that AIMIM would win at least 24 seats in the upcoming election. The party plans to contest 50 seats across the state. Akhtarul Iman said AIMIM is keen to fight the polls in alliance with RJD and Congress but warned that if talks fail, the blame for any vote split should not fall on his party. 'No single party can defeat communal forces. A united fight against BJP is needed,' he added. In the 2020 assembly polls, AIMIM surprised many by winning five seats in Seemanchal. However, four of its MLAs later defected to the RJD. Back then, AIMIM had contested as part of the Grand Democratic Secular Front alongside Upendra Kushwaha's RLSP and Mayawati's BSP. While AIMIM won five seats, the BSP bagged one, whose MLA, Zama Khan, later joined JD(U) and became a minister. Sources in RJD say that AIMIM's request to join the INDIA bloc has met with stiff opposition from the Left parties. However, both RJD and Congress are in favour of including AIMIM, given its influence in Seemanchal. While the RJD-Congress is said to have offered the AIMIM 8–10 seats, the Hyderabad-based party is pushing for 24 seats in the region, which includes Kishanganj, Araria, Katihar, and Purnea.
