Big worry for India as Turkish warship arrives at Karachi Port amid Indo-Pakistan tensions, Pakistani Navy now plans to...

India.com05-05-2025
Islamabad: In a major development amid India-Pakistan tensions, a Turkish Navy warship, TCG Büyükada, has arrived in Pakistan. On Sunday, the Pakistan Navy stated that the ship has been docked at Karachi Port. Pakistan described this as a significant step toward strengthening maritime cooperation with Turkey. Recently, reports claimed that Turkey had supplied weapons to Pakistan. However, Turkey denied these reports, clarifying that its aircraft had only stopped in Pakistan for refueling and linking it to arms supplies was incorrect. The Directorate General Public Relations (DGPR) of the Pakistan Navy informed that the Turkish naval ship was warmly welcomed by Pakistan Navy officials upon its arrival at the Karachi Port.
The statement noted that TCG Büyükada will stay at the Karachi Port for a few days. During this time, the ship's crew members will work alongside personnel from the Pakistan Navy. This collaboration is expected to enhance mutual understanding and strengthen cooperation between the naval forces of both countries. Turkey-Pakistan Defense Relations
In the recent years, both Turkey and Pakistan have strengthened their defense relations. It is important to note that Turkish defense companies are helping Pakistan to upgrade its submarines. Pakistan is also receiving military equipment such as drones from Turkey. Both countries regularly conduct joint military exercises. Recently, they conducted a joint exercise named Atatürk-XIII, in which special forces from both countries participated.
The military cooperation between Turkey and Pakistan is not new, but the arrival of TCG Büyükada comes at a time when tensions are high between Pakistan and India over the Pahalgam terrorist attack. India has accused Pakistan of being behind the attack. Although Islamabad has denied the allegation, relations between the two countries have hit a very low point since the incident. In this context, the Turkish ship's arrival in Karachi has drawn India's attention.
After the Pahalgam attack, incidents of firing along the Line of Control have increased. Both countries have canceled each other's citizens' visas. They have also closed their airspace to one another and completely halted trade. India and Pakistan have each conducted some tests and exercises to showcase their military strength.

KBC 17: Colonel Sofiya Qureshi shares inspiring stories and insights from Operation Sindoor; says, 'A weapon or a fighter aircraft doesn't distinguish between males and females'

Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, and Commander Prerna Deosthalee shared insights into Operation Sindoor , India's mission launched after the April 22 Pahalgam attack, during a special episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati on Friday. Wing Commander Singh described the precision strikes that crippled terrorist infrastructure, saying, 'We attacked in the interiors of the enemy to break their backs. Twenty-one terror camps were recognised. Nine camps were finalised, and the game was done in 25 minutes.' Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, targeted nine terrorist infrastructure sites across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, eliminating several terrorists. Colonel Qureshi explained the choice of targets: 'Bahawalpur was the headquarters of the Jaish-e-Mohammed , from where terrorists who attacked Pathankot and Pahalgam were trained. Muridke had the headquarters of the Lashkar-e-Taiba , where Ajmal Kasab and David Headley were trained. Therefore, we had to destroy those places.' She added that Pakistan had sent 300–400 drones, both armed and unarmed: 'They sent unarmed drones to scan India's weapon and defence capability around the Line of Control and the international border. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo But the army air defence successfully disabled their attempts.' C ommander Deosthalee outlined the navy's role in the operation: 'The navy was battle-ready. We managed the trade routes to stabilise the economy and also ensured deterrence, as a dual job. We also protected the maritime borders, as there were anti-national elements that entered in the past. Being part of this mission is a matter of pride and honour.' Describing naval warfare as '360 degrees of uncertainty with no room for error in the middle of the endless sea without borders,' she added: 'When we strike, we strike in a manner that the enemy would remember forever.' The officers also credited local residents for their role in rescue efforts following the Pahalgam attack. Highlighting women's contributions, Colonel Qureshi noted that over 100 women had been trained on par with men: 'This enabled them to handle the operations seamlessly.' Wing Commander Singh added: 'A weapon or a fighter aircraft doesn't distinguish between males and females.' Colonel Qureshi emphasised the armed forces' readiness and said: 'You have to trust the Indian armed forces; whenever there will be any attack on the country, we have given a stern message to Pakistan and we will keep on doing it in the future.' She further said that Operation Sindoor reflected a whole-of-nation approach involving both the government and the armed forces: 'We are a peace-loving nation and want to live in synergy with our neighbours. Our next-gen tech weapons are so advanced now that we made the operation possible without any civilian fatalities.'

IAF vs PAF: War of doctrines and the question of aircraft downings

Now that both the IAF and PAF have made their formal claims of having shot down the other's aircraft in the 87-hour, predominantly aerial conflagration in May, we can ask a larger question Shekhar Gupta Listen to This Article I can begin this with a trick question: If in a war, one side lost 13 aircraft to combat and the other five, who won? All of the active India-Pakistan wars and conflicts have been short, 22 days in 1965 being the longest. Operation Sindoor was just over three days. Whenever a conclusive outcome like a capitulation and mass surrender is missing, there's scope for both sides to claim victory. There is clarity in some situations, however. We Indians believe we won every war or skirmish, but accept that we lost 1962 to China. Similarly, the Pakistanis concede defeat in
