What is the DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam Mattress and should you buy it?

Tom's Guide03-06-2025
The entry-level DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam Mattress is a variation of the flagship DreamCloud Classic Hybrid. Unusually, the DreamCloud Memory Foam is the pricier option of the two. The best hybrid mattresses tend to cost more than their all-foam counterparts due to the inclusion of steel coils, but that's not the case here.
The construction isn't much different from the DreamCloud Classic Hybrid, which is the second highest-rated option in our best mattress of the year guide. The DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam merely swaps the coils for a core of high-density foam, resulting in a less responsive surface.
Thinking of buying the DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam Mattress? Here's what to expect in terms of cost, design, and overall comfort. While you'll be spending more compared to the DreamCloud Classic Hybrid, you'll still be able to save thanks to regular mattress sales.
The DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam is a 12" mattress rated a 6.5 out of 10 on the brand's firmness scale. With its balanced bed feel, quilted top, and therapeutic memory foam comfort layer, we think it'll best suit side and back sleepers who crave loads of pressure relief for sensitive joints.
As an all-foam mattress, the motion isolation here should be excellent — we already rated it highly in our DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress review. Trading the springs for a foam foundation will result in less airflow, even with a newly designed cooling cover woven with polyethylene fibers.
The DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam Mattress costs $100 to $200 more than its hybrid sibling in all sizes but twin. A queen-size is regularly on sale for $799, which is still within mid-range. It comes with a 365-night trial and a forever warranty.
DreamCloud never sells its mattresses at the suggested retail price thanks to an evergreen DreamCloud mattress sale that cuts as much as 60% off.

The DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam Mattress has a starting sale price of $299 for a twin, which is actually $100 less than the DreamCloud Classic Hybrid in the same size. However, for the remaining sizes, the DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam costs up to $200 more than the hybrid version.
Here are the current sale prices for the DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam Mattress, along with the price differential versus the DreamCloud Classic Hybrid:
As always, DreamCloud includes a 365-night sleep trial, a lifetime mattress warranty. and free shipping and returns.
DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam Mattress (queen): $799 at DreamCloudThis updated version of the DreamCloud memory foam mattress costs about $150 more than the sale price of its predecessor, but the Classic sports a sleeker design (at the expense of side carry handles) with a new cooling cover to help soothe you to sleep. This discount has held steady at DreamCloud for quite a while, save a smattering of surprise flash sales that saw prices drop even lower.
Every DreamCloud mattress has undergone a slight makeover, including the DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam. It maintains its 12" profile but now consists of fewer layers, a new top cover, and a sleeker exterior.
The cashmere-blend quilted top that was once DreamCloud's signature feature has been replaced with a new CloudQuilt foam top that's infused with cooling polyethylene fibers to dissipate heat. Directly underneath that is a layer of therapeutic memory foam for pressure relief.
An adaptive support layer of foam gives way to a high-density foam foundation; these components aid with alignment and stability. According to DreamCloud, the foundational foam has a reinforced perimeter for edge support, similar to the coils in the DreamCloud Classic Hybrid.
Surrounding the mattress is an updated shift-resistant cover with a fiberglass-free flame retardant sewn in. However, the cover no longer includes side carry handles, which could make rotating your mattress a bit of a hassle.
DreamCloud rates all of its mattresses a 6.5 out of 10 on its firmness scale. However, based on our experiences with DreamCloud hybrid mattresses in particular, these beds tend to skew firmer than advertised.
We've yet to try the DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam Mattress ourselves. Based on what we know about DreamCloud beds and the best memory foam mattresses in general, we think most sleepers can anticipate a medium-firm feel with ample contouring from the quilted foam topper.
Speaking of the topper, the polyethylene fibers in the cover should give this mattress a cool-to-the-touch sensation, similar to what we found with the Nectar Classic Memory Foam Mattress. (Nectar and DreamCloud are both a part of Resident Home.)
That said, the absence of springs may hinder the airflow compared to the hybrid DreamCloud. The surface won't be as springy, either, although we don't anticipate deep sinkage — again, it'll likely be similar to the Nectar Classic we tested.
✅ You need a mattress to ease sore joints: DreamCloud mattresses, while on the firmer side, have softened a bit with newer iterations. The quilted top remains a constant and delivers excellent pressure relief. If you're a side sleeper in particular, you'll like the way it contours to your shoulders, hips, and knees without compromising support.
✅ You share a bed: The previous versions of the DreamCloud Hybrid scored well in our motion isolation tests. Swapping the springs for a dense foam core here will only improve this bed's ability to dampen movement, allowing you and your partner to sleep in peace.
✅ You want to take your time trying it out: DreamCloud offers a full year to trial your mattress at home. If you decide it's not the right fit, you can return it for a full refund at no extra cost.
❌ You're a very hot sleeper: The cooling upgrades here are nice to see, but we don't think the DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam Mattress will do enough to keep severe overheating at bay. Look at our guide to the best cooling mattresses if you need best-in-class temperature regulation.
❌ You want a mattress that's easy to rotate: Believe it or not, rotating your mattress is one of the best ways to get the most use out of it, as it helps delay the onset of sagging and indents. The DreamCloud Classic doesn't have side handles, making this necessary step more of a chore.
❌ You want the absolute lowest price for a DreamCloud: At this price point, a $100 to $200 differential is enough to push a mattress into another price bracket. The DreamCloud Classic Hybrid will be a little easier on your wallet, but for quality beds under $500 for a queen, check out our best budget mattress guide.

Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid vs DreamCloud Classic: Which affordable mattress should you buy?

Type: HybridFirmness option: Soft, medium, firmHeight: 12.25'Sizes: 14Sleep trial: 120 nightsWarranty: LifetimePrice (MSRP): from $665 at Brooklyn Bedding Type: HybridFirmness option: FirmHeight: 12'Sizes: 7Sleep trial: 365 nightsWarranty: LifetimePrice (MSRP): from $1,148 at DreamCloud Offering comfort and support in spades, the DreamCloud Classic and Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid are both great options for those looking for a responsive hybrid mattress at a relatively affordable price. You'll never find either mattress sold at full price, and both offer excellent value for money. But which is the right hybrid mattress for you? Both brands feature in our guide to the best mattresses of 2025 and we rate the DreamCloud Classic as the best value mattress currently on the market. But that's not to say that the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid doesn't have its positives — the choice of firmness options means it's easier to tweak this bed to your exact specifications. Is this personalization right for you or will the all-round support of the DreamCloud be more suitable? With permanent mattress sales on offer at both brands, there's always a great deal to be found. And if you're looking for the best back to school sleep and dorm mattress deals for your college kids, these two brands should be on your list to consider. Read on to find out more about each mattress so you can decide which is your perfect fit… Regular sales at both brands mean you'll never pay full price for either mattress. Brooklyn Bedding mattress sales have 25% off mattresses throughout the year, although we have seen this rise to 30% at some major sales events (keep your eyes peeled for the upcoming Labor Day mattress sales.) A queen is usually reduced to $999 (MSRP $1,332) but if you want to add in the optional cooling pillow top, that price will rise to $1,299 (MSRP $1,732.) DreamCloud has recently lowered the MSRP of the original mattress, meaning a queen retails at full price for $1,698. However, regular DreamCloud mattress deals mean you'll never pay that price, with a queen currently selling for $649. There's also the option to add in a heavily discounted bedding bundle, consisting of pillows, sheet set and mattress protector. Extras wise, the DreamCloud wins out here with a 365-night trial – you'll get 120 nights with the Brooklyn Bedding. Both offer a lifetime warranty and free shipping. Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid: twin was from $665 now from $498.75 at Brooklyn BeddingWith a choice of firmness options, it's easy to pick the mattress that suits your sleeping style best. Offering excellent support and motion isolation, the Signature Hybrid is always reduced by at least 25%, taking a queen down to $999 (MSRP $1,332). You'll also get a 120-night trial, lifetime warranty and free shipping. DreamCloud Classic Mattress: twin was from $1,148 now from $399 at DreamCloudAlways discounted, you shouldn't ever need to pay full MSRP for the DreamCloud Classic. Currently a queen size mattress is reduced to $649, which is an excellent price for a mattress that offers a high-quality, comfortable sleep. Extras are good, with a 365-night trial, lifetime warranty and free shipping. Like the best hybrid mattresses, both beds consist of a coil support layer and a combination of foams for comfort. The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid's design varies slightly, depending on which firmness version you've chosen. The soft and medium mattresses start with a 1.5' quilted cover designed to help wick away moisture, followed by a 1.5' layer of responsive comfort foam to adjust to your sleeping position. A 1' layer of transition foam sits on top of the individually wrapped coil layer for contouring and motion isolation, and the mattress is finished off with a foam base for durability and longevity. The firm mattress has a slightly thinner quilted cover at 0.75', followed by 1' of the responsive comfort foam. A slightly thicker layer of transition foam at 2' provides more support and the slightly firmer feel. The DreamCloud Classic is the newest version of the DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid and has undergone a few small design changes. The mattress starts with a quilted top with cooling fibers and a stitched in foam layer for breathability. This is followed by a layer of contouring memory foam to relieve pressure. Adaptive response foam for spinal alignment sits on top of the layer of individually wrapped coils for support and reducing motion transfer, with a thin layer of dense foam underneath to stabilize the mattress. Finally, a protective bottom cover keeps the mattress in place and helps with longevity. In our Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid mattress review, our tester slept on the firm bed along with the optional pillow top. But our Sleep Editor has also tried out the medium firmness without the pillow top. Either way, you won't sink into the surface of the Signature Hybrid but, like the best pillow top mattresses, the optional pillow top does add a little softness. The choice of three firmness options means the mattress will suit a variety of sleepers – the soft is best suited to side sleepers, while the medium will suit side and back sleepers. The firm is best suited to back and stomach sleepers or those of a larger build. That said, the inclusion of a pillow top will soften the firmness up a little, but this is still a bed for those who prefer a bouncy and supportive feel. Motion isolation is also excellent, but edge support is a bit average in the corners and at the foot of the bed. DreamCloud has recently redesigned its signature mattress and the Luxury Hybrid that we reviewed in our DreamCloud mattress review is now the Classic, which we are in the process of reviewing. However, the mattress is still fundamentally the same and we expect the feel to be similar. We rate the DreamCloud as one of the best mattresses for back pain, with its fantastic ability to adapt quickly to the lumbar region and soothe away aches and pains. The DreamCloud is a great all-rounder, but our side sleepers did find it took a while for the mattress to mold to their bodies. While very lightweight side sleepers may find it too firm overall, that firmer support does make it one of the best mattresses for stomach sleepers. Motion isolation and edge support are great and those sharing a bed with a restless partner should definitely put this mattress on their shortlist. Hybrid mattresses are generally more breathable than all-foam so the expectation was that both these mattresses would provide good temperature regulation. However, our tester found that the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid slept hot – so much so that they woke up in the night feeling uncomfortable. This was particularly surprising as the cooling pillow top contains GlacioTex – usually found in some of the best cooling mattresses due to its abilities to keep sleepers cool. Hot sleepers will be better served on the DreamCloud Classic. Although the design has changed slightly, the mattress contains cooling fibers built into a cover that's extremely breathable. The additional of well-spaced coils means this mattress will be a better option if you do sleep hot. ✅ You want a range of customization options: Available in soft, medium and firm firmness options, you can also choose whether or not to add in a pillow top for added softness. ✅ You need an unusual size: With 14 sizes to choose from, including a range of RV mattress sizes, the Signature Hybrid will fit any unusual space. ✅ You want to lie on top of the mattress: If the idea of the 'hug' of memory foam brings you out in a rash, the firmer and bouncier feel of the Signature Hybrid could be your perfect blend. ✅ You sleep on your back: Although it's comfortable for all sleeping positions, back sleepers in particular should find the DreamCloud extremely supportive around the lumbar region. ✅ You experience with aches and pains: The DreamCloud is one of the mattresses we recommend to those with back pain, thanks to its soothing lumbar support. ✅ You sleep hot: Although it's not a cooling mattress the DreamCloud is incredibly breathable and offers great temperature regulation.

Tom's Guide Awards 2025: Our favorite mattresses, pillows and more

Actually getting a good night's sleep can make such a difference the following day, when you wake up feeling refreshed and energized. Whether it be your mattress or your pillow, using the wrong bedding for your preferred sleeping position can leave you feeling groggy with aches and pains all over. From hybrid mattresses to memory foam ones or even more affordable 'in a box' style mattresses, you have plenty of options when it comes to upgrading your bedding to get the kind of rest your body deserves and we've tried them all. Our team of experts has tested and reviewed all of the latest mattresses, pillows and other bedding gear for the Tom's Guide Awards 2025. Below, we highlight our favorite mattresses, toppers, protectors, pillows and more from the last 12 months that have transformed the quality of our sleep. We've been testing mattresses for nearly five years at Tom's Guide and the Saatva Classic has been our top-recommended bed for nearly as long. In fact, this is the fourth year in a row we've crowned the Classic our overall winner. After retesting it from top to base, we awarded it 5 out of 5 stars, praising the stunning balance of comfort versus support. Our Managing Editor of Sleep, Claire Davies, who slept on the Classic for seven months, declared that it revolutionized her sleep. 'Post-pregnancy left me with ongoing hip and lower back pain that got worse whenever I tried to lie down,' she said. 'I just couldn't get comfy for long enough on any bed or mattress topper I tried, until I started sleeping on the Saatva Classic. From the first night on the Saatva, all that discomfort melted away. It was such a relief to feel comfy in bed again.' Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. 2025 has seen the arrival of some very strong Saatva rivals (the Helix Midnight Luxe and the Brooklyn Bedding Copperflex Pro being two), but so far none of them are the whole package like the Saatva Classic. To us, it is still the best mattress you can buy for superb comfort and support, tailored to your exact sleeping position and body weight, and made from natural and organic toxin-free materials right here in America. The DreamCloud is another repeat Tom's Guide Award Winner, earning the title of the best mattress in a box for the second year in a row. Updated for 2025, the DreamCloud Classic offers exceptional support and comfort at an affordable price (roughly $699 for a queen), outperforming many expensive rivals in our lab-based tests. At 12' tall and with a soft-touch quilted cover, it also looks the part; more a hotel-style mattress than a budget-friendly boxed bed. One of the big attractions with the DreamCloud is the use of therapeutic foam that contours your body to relieve pressure points. You don't normally get this level of pressure relief from a cheaper mattress, making the DreamCloud a unicorn in the affordable bed market. The benefits (a forever warranty and year's sleep trial) are also relatively unheard of for a sub-$700 queen mattress. Add all of that up and there's no doubt as to why the DreamCloud Classic has taken home this award once again. The Saatva Classic is our overall mattress winner for the Tom's Guide Awards 2025 and our best hybrid mattress of the year too. Why? Because it comes in three firmness levels and two heights it's easy to match it to your sleeping position and body weight, making it one of the most customizable beds on the market. But there's much more... The large majority of our testing panel also awarded the Saatva Classic top marks for lumbar support, pressure relief (no more sore points across your body), and how it doesn't cling on to excess heat and turn your bed into an inferno at night. We loved sleeping on the 11.5' Luxury Firm version of the Classic and found it hard to fault (see our Saatva Classic mattress review for our full testing notes). The slightly bouncy feel makes it easier to move around on, and the edge support is the strongest we've tested – you could park a truck on the edge of this bed and it would not fall off. (Ok, maybe not a truck, but the edge support is so superb you can sleep on every inch to maximize space.) Even with a recent $40 price hike due to mattress tariffs the Saatva Classic is still good value for a luxury handcrafted hybrid bed made from non-toxic, premium materials – a comparable mattress sold in store would cost lots more. So when you add this to the unbeatable performance, high hotel-style build quality, and generous benefits (year's sleep trial, lifetime warranty and free White Glove Delivery), it's easy to see why the Saatva Classic is still our most-recommended hybrid bed. The Nectar Premier is the slightly softer and more luxurious alternative to the Nectar Classic, the previous top ranking option in our best memory foam mattress guide and a prior Tom's Guide Award winner. The Premier has earned its spot in this year's Tom's Guide Awards by delivering that classic memory foam feel most of us love and crave: a full body 'hug' and a plush, contouring surface you just can't wait to sink into after a long, hard day. We found the Nectar Premier to be most comfortable for side sleeping, as the dense cushioning cradles the hips and shoulders to minimize numbness or aching. We enjoyed it for back sleeping too (there's good lumbar support here), making it a decent choice for combi sleepers who switch positions through the night. And while we're not saying that the Nectar Premier can put an end to your sleep divorce, the superb motion isolation is ideal for couples as the generous layers of foam eat up any movement from your partner for a more peaceful night's sleep. Side sleeping is the most popular and healthiest sleep position in the world but it isn't without its challenges. Chief among those is intense pressure on your shoulders and hips if you're lying on the wrong mattress for this sleeping position and your body weight. With the majority of our testing panel comprising side sleepers, we really know our stuff when it comes to recommending the best mattress for side sleepers. For us, the Helix Midnight Luxe is the cream of the side lying crop. This hotel-style bed is opulent from tip to toe, delivering bags of pressure relief (goodbye, painful pressure points) without hanging on to excess heat (yep, it's hot sleeper safe). The other big draw is motion isolation: as Nicola Appleton explains in our full review, you'll barely feel any movement from those you share a bed with. Expensive, but worth the price — and a worthy winner of this Tom's Guide Award. We know from rigorous testing that the best mattresses for stomach sleepers are all about support and that's something the Helix Dawn Mattress delivers by the bucketful. This hybrid bed has stared-down some tough competition in 2025 (the Plank Firm Mattress is a double-sided dream for stomach sleeping), but the Helix Dawn takes the win here by pairing immense support with a good value price. Tom's Guide Senior Sleep Writer Ruth Jones tested the Dusk Luxe and said that while stomach sleeping normally puts pressure on your back, she felt 'refreshed and rested' when sleeping on this mattress. The best mattress toppers aren't just for fixing up old mattresses. They're also good for softening hard beds, cooling hot beds, and enabling you to experience the comfort of a better mattress for a fraction of the price. For us, the Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Adapt + Cooling Mattress Topper does all that and more. We first tested the original 3' Tempur-Adapt topper and found it to provide cloud-like plushness, yet it had a tendency to trap body heat. We tested it again with a + Cooling upgrade (with cool-touch cover) for our review and the difference in sleep comfort was enormous. 'I spent two weeks sleeping on the Tempur-Adapt + Cooling Topper loved how it delivered Tempur Pedic's signature comfort without the usual heat retention,' said reviewer Alsion Barretta.'If you're not ready to invest in a new mattress, this topper is an easy, affordable way to add a big upgrade to your bed.' Since our new bedding writer Becky George joined our team last September we've been testing more pillows than ever. The one that stood out from the crowd as our top recommended pillow is the Coop Home Goods Adjustable Pillow, a foam and fiber fill design that uses an adjustable loft to appeal to all sleep styles. While the flat support of the Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud pillow is perfect for stomach sleeping and the ergonomic build of the Nest Bedding Easy Breather Pillow suits side sleepers, the Coop Home Goods Adjustable Pillow can be made taller or smaller to suit your needs. Becky praised the 'feathery softness' of the fill and noted as a combination sleeper who tends to change sleep position, the Coop Home Goods Pillow kept her comfy in all of them. If ever there was a Goldilocks pillow, this is it. Mattress protectors might seem like a boring purchase at first, but in reality they make a huge difference to how long your bed lasts and how healthy you feel when sleeping on it. Fancy lying face to face with stale sweat, dust mites, body oils and more? No, we didn't think so. The Coop Home Goods Waterproof Mattress Protector is the number one rated product in our best mattress protectors guide and our top-recommended option for all sleepers. It takes home this Tom's Guide Award because we feel it offers excellent quality for the money, it's breathable, quiet (no annoying crinkly noises here), and fully waterproof. In short, the Coop Home Goods Waterproof Mattress Protector delivers everything you need to keep your mattress safe from stains, spills, allergens, and other nasties. Our Managing Editor of Sleep, Claire Davies, uses it on her mattress and wouldn't be without it now. TikTok favorite the Hatch Restore 3, aka our best sunrise alarm clock of the year, packs a whole load of functionality into one sleek device. We're talking authentic sunrise simulation, 60+ sleep soundtracks, and a sundown setting to help you chill out and drop off. All that, plus a variety of alarms and cheerful sunrise settings to get you out of bed fast and raring to go in the morning – a godsend during the depths of winter. The Hatch Restore 3 is our top pick for anyone who needs a hand creating a consistent bedtime routine and wake-up time, both of which will improve your sleep health and your overall wellbeing in turn. An absolute must for Fall and winter sleep, and a worthy winner of our first ever Tom's Guide Best Sunrise Alarm Clock Award.
