The injury-prone Mayank Yadav, who burst onto the scene last year, underwent back surgery conducted by Dr Rowan Schouten in Christchurch, New Zealand, last month.
"He's out for six to eight months," a reliable source told this paper on Wednesday.
Troubled by a back injury, Mayank played only two matches for LSG this season before breaking down again.
In an injury-plagued career, the 23-year-old Delhi pacer has played just three T20Is for India, against Bangladesh last year.
Both Avesh and Mohsin underwent knee surgeries conducted by renowned Mumbai-based orthopedic surgeon Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala (who has operated on Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, and many others).
While Avesh, who plays for Madhya Pradesh in domestic cricket, underwent surgery on his right knee on June 17, Mohsin underwent an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction on his knee last month.
The trio will miss the first half of the 2025-26 domestic cricket season and are likely to return to action during the second leg of the Ranji Trophy next year.
They will undergo rehab at the
BCCI
's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

Mayank Yadav
Avesh Khan
Mohsin Khan
It is understood that Mohsin tore the ACL in his right knee on December 31 while playing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. However, the left-arm quick later joined the LSG camp ahead of IPL 2025 but failed to recover from his injury and was replaced by India all-rounder Shardul Thakur.
The knee injury had troubled Avesh during the 2024-25 domestic season, and he was forced to miss Madhya Pradesh's last Ranji Trophy league match. The injury also forced Avesh to miss the initial stage of IPL 2025. He finished with 13 wickets in 13 matches.
Avesh's last India appearance was in December last year in an ODI in Paarl against South Africa. Overall, the 28-year-old pacer has taken 36 wickets in 33 white-ball internationals (25 T20Is & eight ODIs) for India.
Rajat Patidar likely to miss Duleep Trophy
Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) IPL 2025 captain Rajat Patidar is also set to miss the Duleep Trophy, as the Madhya Pradesh batter has been advised to "take rest" by the BCCI's medical team. He is recovering from hand and heel injuries, TOI has learnt.
'Rajat is training at MP's off-season camp, but he's not been batting, as he has been advised to take a break and recover from the injury in his right hand by the BCCI's medical team. He will miss the Duleep Trophy but should be fine for the Ranji Trophy,' a source revealed.
Patidar was in the fray for the England tour but missed out due to the hand injury he picked up during RCB's title-winning season.

BCCI Medical Team Delivers Grim News To Jasprit Bumrah, Pacer Won't Play 5th Test: Report
India's bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah will miss the fifth India vs England Test, according to a report in ESPNCricinfo. Before the series, the BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar had declared that Bumrah would play only three of the five Tests in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy due to workload management. Bumrah has already played three of the four Tests so far in the series. However, with the fifth match being a series-deciding one, there was a school of thought regarding including Bumrah for the game at The Oval in London. However, the report said: "BCCI medical team has told Bumrah that the decision is in line with safeguarding his back and keeping the long-term in mind." Akash Deep, who missed the fourth Test with a groin injury, will most likely replace Jasprit Bumrah, the report added. In the second Test at Edgbaston, Akash Deep picked up a ten-wicket match haul. Earlier, however, India batting coach Sitanshu Kotak did not rule out Jasprit Bumrah 's participation in the series deciding fifth Test against England, saying "he is fit as per his load." Injury-prone pace spearhead Bumrah was earmarked for three Tests on the tour as part of his workload management but with the series on the line, he could play a fourth one. After a dramatic draw at Manchester, head coach Gautam Gambhir also did not rule out the possibility of Bumrah featuring in the crunch game. Kotak reiterated that on Tuesday. "Bumrah is fit now according to his load. He has bowled one inning in the last match. So that obviously head coach, our physio and captain they will have a discussion and decide. There has been no discussion," Kotak said two days before the game. At Old Trafford, Gambhir had also confirmed that all his pacers were fit, meaning that Arshdeep Singh and Akash Deep have recovered from injuries. Asked about the workload of Mohammed Siraj, who is the only Indian pacer to play all games, Kotak gave a detailed answer. "So, I don't know what you guys think about the actual workload. So, if I tell you quickly, before the Test series, if a bowler puts in a certain amount of overs per week, that if he's preparing for T20 and putting in 20 overs, 25 overs, 6 overs every day, or putting in 6 overs for five days, that is good enough workload for T20. "They have a GPS. It shows the record of how many overs the bowler has put in throughout the week. And they're in constant touch with the bowling coach. So, the build-up of the last 4-5 weeks, you need to determine if that there's no spike in it. "So, what's the spike? If a bowler is putting in 30 overs per week, and suddenly, in the first innings, he's put in 35 overs, then that's the spike in his load. So, the number of overs that Siraj is putting in every week, it's not necessary that it's due to practice. "That load is due to the match as well. So, then, another thing depends on whether Siraj himself, or the physios, or his body feels that, no, I'm tired. Then, they will think about the load. Otherwise, his bowling load is very high, is very good. So, there's no chance of a spike in it," added Kotak.

DB Boo Carter with Vols but work to do before hitting field for Tennessee, coach says
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee coach Josh Heupel said Tuesday that sophomore defensive back Boo Carter is with the Volunteers as they start preseason practice. HT Image When Carter gets back on the field, however, remains to be seen after he reportedly missed workouts this summer. Heupel declined to get into details. 'Boo is a part of our team here,' Heupel said. 'There's some things that he's got to accomplish to get back on the field with us. Don't have a set timeline on that. Our leadership council has been a part of those things, those discussions with me and with Boo.' Heupel said he's proud of the leadership council. The head coach said he'll be the one handling all questions on Carter early in camp. Whether Carter would show for practice was a question amid reports about his conduct. Tennessee parted with quarterback Nico Iamaleava just before the spring game in April. Heupel said then that nobody was 'bigger than the Power T.' Carter made the Southeastern Conference All-Freshman team for his play in 13 games, with five starts last season. He ranked sixth on the defense with 38 tackles, including 28 solo. He also led the SEC averaging 16.5 yards per punt return. Tennessee gave him work in the slot at wide receiver during spring practice, allowing Carter a chance to follow in the two-way footsteps of Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter. The Vols need Carter with cornerback Jermod McCoy recovering from an ACL injured early this year. The Vols start practice Wednesday needing a new starting quarterback with Iamaleava now at UCLA. Transfer Joey Aguilar, Jake Merklinger and freshman George MacIntyre all will be competing for the job for a program that made the College Football Playoff only to be routed by eventual champion Ohio State. Tennessee opens the season Aug. 30 in Atlanta against Syracuse. Offensive coordinator Joey Halzle said they are looking for a quarterback who can run the offense, not just throw the ball hardest or farthest. 'It's about who can operate this offense that when we take the field gives us a chance to win,' Halzle said. ___ AP college football: and

India's top 3000m steeplechase runner Avinash Sable has suffered a serious knee injury that is likely to be a barrier for him ahead of the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo this September. He has now had a successful operation in Mumbai under the care of Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala at Kokilaben over a minute into the race, Sable took a nasty fall at the water jump triggered by the stumble of another athlete ahead, leading to a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and a damaged meniscus. The injury hinders his chances of competing at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan this injury came at a very difficult time, as ACL and meniscus injuries usually take six months to a year to heal, depending on how bad they are and how well the recovery goes. The World Athletics Championship is less than two months away, making it unlikely that Sable will be fit in time. "He'll take rest and should be all right in one or two weeks in maximum," His former coach Amrish Kumar suggested in an earlier update that the injury wasn't serious, while the latest news shows it is more serious than first thought. Sable, 30, is no stranger to adversity. A two-time Olympian, he has redefined the landscape of Indian running. From humble beginnings in rural Maharashtra to becoming a household name in Indian athletics, Sable has broken barriers with his relentless work ethic and holds the national record in the 3000m steeplechase with an impressive time of 8:09.91, a mark set at the 2024 Paris Diamond League.
