Farmers oppose proposed Cauvery Aarti
Mandya: This year, the
Cauvery Aarti
on Brindavan Gardens premises, KRS dam in Srirangapatna, starting from Oct 2 until the conclusion of illumination in Mysuru city, will be the major attraction of the Dasara festival in Mysuru.
According to Srirangapatna MLA AB Ramesha Bandisiddegowda and MLC Dinesh Gooligowda, the first Cauvery Aarti will be held on Oct 2. "After the end of the Dasara illumination, it will be held on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays," explained Gooligowda.
"The Cauvery Aarti will be held behind the boating yard in the Brindavan Gardens. A seating capacity for about 10,000 people will be made," he said.
Ramesha explained that the cultural programmes by local, state, and national level artistes, both before and after the Cauvery Aarti, a laser show, and musical fountains will be the key attractions.
"The Cauvery Aarti will be held on all days during Dasara and illumination in the Mysuru city," explained the MLA, who is also the chairman of the CESC Mysuru.
According to the authorities, Rs 92 crore will be spent on this new initiative. "Many govt departments will bear the cost. They will also get a share of the revenue. Basically, there will not be any burden on any departments," said Ramesha.
"Cauvery Aarti is planned to offer our gratitude to Mother Cauvery, who is the lifeline for crores of people and farmers.

Meanwhile, farmers of the district have decided to oppose the proposal and urged Bengalureans, who are the beneficiaries of the KRS dam water, to raise their voice against this water-polluting initiative. "Definitely, we will not allow this to happen," said Sunanda Jayaram, a farmers' leader.
"We have already appealed to the CM in this regard. We don't know why this scheme, which will promote superstitious beliefs among the people, is proposed," she said.
"The state govt is coming out with a number of projects centering on the KRS dam, which raises suspicion. We fear people with vested interests are trying to encroach on public properties," she said. "KRS dam water is a lifeline for crores of people. Cauvery Aarti and other schemes and projects affect the water quality. The residents of Bengaluru must raise their voice," she said.

K ottayam: In its diamond jubilee year, Kottayam medical college has unveiled a rest centre for bystanders of cancer patients — a first-of-its-kind for govt hospitals in Kerala. The initiative was spearheaded and funded by the 1985 MBBS batch of the college. Inaugurating the centre, devaswom, port and cooperation minister VN Vasavan lauded the alumni for their contribution. "A restroom for bystanders of cancer patients, unique and first of its kind in the state, reflects the humane side of healthcare that considers not just the patients but also those who stand by them in their most vulnerable moments," the minister said. Medical college superintendent Dr TK Jayakumar, Kottayam Institute of Child Health (ICH) superintendent Dr Jayaprakash KP, senior cardiologist Dr Jabir A, Dr Jose Tom, Dr Sam Christie Mammen, Dr Susan Uthup, Dr Suresh Kumar and Dr Tigy Thomas Jacob spoke at the event. Dr Jayaprakash and Dr Jabir are also senior office-bearers of Class 1985 Kottayam medical college society. The 1,000 square foot building, adjacent to the cancer ward, features separate, hygienic resting areas for men and women, complete with modern bathrooms, two-tier beds, a secure access control system, CCTV surveillance, and a well-equipped dining area. The project, proposed by Dr TK Jayakumar was accepted by the 1985 alumni batch and completed at a cost of Rs 35 lakhs, Dr Jabir said. The announcements from the ICU of the cancer ward will be made audible in the restrooms via speakers. The facility will be maintained by the staff and nurses of the cancer ward, alongside the hospital's housekeeping department, Dr Jayaprakash said. Barmer Collector Tina Dabi Visits TB Patient's Home, Delivers Nutrition Kit, Assures Support

Under the 'Ni-Kshay Mitra' scheme, she handed over a nutrition kit to Motilal, a TB patient from Indira Colony, and assured him of the district administration's full support. This initiative falls under the Prime Minister's TB Free India Campaign, aiming to provide relief to TB patients. In an effort spearheaded by the District Collector, other district-level officers, including the District Superintendent of Police, have also become Ni-Kshay Mitras, supporting a total of 69 TB patients in Barmer district. On Wednesday, Dabi visited Motilal at his residence, providing him with the Nikshay Nutrition Kit and encouraging him to complete his treatment, promising all possible assistance. According to Dr. Arvind Kumar Bhatt, Barmer's Tuberculosis Officer, 1,200 patients are currently undergoing TB treatment in the district. The Nikshay Poshan Kit scheme involves the distribution of nutrition kits to these patients. Additionally, the Government of India provides a monthly allowance of Rs 1,000 to TB patients' accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). As of 2025, a total of Rs 50 lakh has been paid out to patients via this scheme. Renalyx Health Systems to invest Rs 800 cr for setting up 3 dialysis machine production units
Mumbai: Bengaluru-headquartered Renalyx Health Systems on Wednesday said it is planning to invest Rs 800 crore in the next four years to set up three manufacturing units to produce RENALYX - RxT 21 machine that will help dialysis affordable and accessible to a larger population. RENALYX - RxT 21 machine is world's first fully indigenous, AI and cloud-enabled smart hemodialysis machine with real-time remote monitoring and clinical connectivity facility, the company said. Currently, the company manufactures RxT 17 through contract manufacturing and with the launch of RxT 21, it will set up its own facilities at Bengaluru and Mysuru in Karnataka and at Mumbai in Maharashtra, Renalyx Health Systems Founder and Director Shyam Vasudeva Rao told PTI. This is expected to raise the manpower of the company to over 500 people in 1-2 years from the current 100, he added. "RxT 21 makes Renalyx the sixth company globally and first in India to produce an advanced dialysis machine with EU CE certification, a mandatory conformity marking for products sold within the European Economic Area (EEA). We are aiming for an annual capacity of 5,000 machines in the company-owned manufacturing units," he added. The Indian CDSCO (Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation) approval of the machine is in its final stages and is expected by July this year, while the US FDA approval process is underway and anticipated by March 2026, he said. When asked how the company is planning to raise Rs 800 crore for setting up the manufacturing units, Rao said, the company will get it through a mix of foreign direct investment (FDIs), equity and debt. "The company plans to raise funds through the sale of equity, backed by strong interest from prominent Indian and international investors. In addition, it will raise debt, and the promoters will also invest capital. We are also planning to go public within the next three years," he added. Renalyx Health Systems is a technology innovation company which is focused on delivering inclusive solutions for comprehensive renal care. With initial deployments of the machine planned in Maharashtra and Karnataka, the company will go for rapid pan-India distribution of RxT 21 with its partners as well as exports to other countries. Rao said the company has penetrated international markets, and has secured orders from South Africa, the USA, and Europe. In India, Renalyx plans to install RxT 21 at primary health centres (PHC), community health centres (CHC), private dialysis centres and hospitals to make renal care available to a large number of people.
